  • Pokemon Stadium 2 is THE MOST Difficult Pokemon GAME that Gamefreak and Nintendo have made due to Gen 1 and 2 time period mechanics, rental teams, and unfair RNG. Pokemon on the N64 is such a crazy series, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium, Hey You Pikachu, and Pokemon Stadium 2, what a ride!

kh123 sqsft They may have artist's block because of designing several monsters over the years, so that may be the reason, and for the years, it takes to design the iconic monsters, it would take around 2-3 years, depending on the development time of the game and the monsters produced, GSC was made, 3 years after RGBY in 1999, with RS, being made 3 years again in 2002, not counting Emerald or Fire Red/Leaf Green, and then another 3 years when the DS came in 2004, the generation 4 games were probably developed around the time, the DS released, Diamond and Pearl in 2006, again, not counting Platnium and Heartgold/Soulsilver, there seems to be a pattern, here. But I'll say the pattern is 2-3 years but mostly 3, since new generation games come after that number.

Of course its difficult when you're using a rental Pokemon Proto. This is a no brainer. I have the Transfer Pak that allow me to transfer my Pokemon into Stadium 2 to make the battle less frustrating (It's still a bit challenging though).

Thank you, Proto! I have said this for years, and my friends have only made fun of me for saying it. The difficulty of these two games is BS! Kind of wish this grueling style would come to the main line of games, tbh. Still, it's ridiculous. If the rental pokémon were just a little better it would be fun, but the sheer stupidity of making all the babies and lower evolutions of pokémon have amazing moves and giving big boys like Tyranitar mud-slap is insulting.
    Your patience is commendable, Proto.

Erika having Vaporeon was done so you couldn’t just spam fire types against her and make her more challenging. It’s why a lot of the gym leaders in both Stadiums have Pokémon that weren’t on their team.

4 years late but that vaporeon battle was miserable. Lots of the gym leaders were miserable. Took WAY too long. They give like every gym leader a move that’s a weakness to their weakness. So if they use electric. You use ground. But somehow they’ll have water moves. Just to piss you off and make team selection harder. I beat it, but with great strife and anger lol

If you use save scumming on an emulator, you can see that the battle system in stadium 2 doesn't work the same way as the game boy games, it's like it's rigged to give the computer a better chance or something. If you make a save state before selecting a move and try to use it to cheat against the RNG after your move fails or the like, you will just fail that move over and over again when loading that save state and selecting the move, as if the result is predetermined for each possibility before you've even selected anything :/

Pokemon Stadium 2 cemented my love for the first and second Generation of Pokemon.
After that, nothing was the same anymore with the new EV system.
Pokemon battles became faster as a result, due of them all becoming frail.
But the bulky Metagame by the Stat EXP atleast allowed us players more mistakes and room to breath, as well making the battle longer and meaningful.

I have a lot of fun playing Stadium with pokemon from the transfer pak, but Stadium 2 is practically impossible for me without using the glitch to get infinite continues, whether I use the transfer pak or not. Its just absurdly difficult, and youre right about the RNG feeling like the game is out to screw you over and help out the opponent however they can. While Stadium is difficult, its very enjoyable, but 2 is just a nightmare. I would have loved to see your commentary on the Challenge Cup in 2 where you arent allowed to pick your team. Touros (Holding a Bow, or that item that increases ground attacks ): Earthquake, Headbutt, Strength, Hyperbeam
Feraligator (Holding a miracle seed) : Surf, Bite, Attract, Headbutt
Archinine Holding. an item that increases fire attacks): Flamethrower, Dig, Dragon Breathe, anything else
Eggxecutor Holding a confused berry) : Stun Spore, Mega Drain, Psychic, Sun Light
Golem (Holding that item that makes you strike first 20% or 30% of the time) : Earthquake, Exposion, Rollout, anything else
These were my pokemons that I used to beat the game the easiest. I forgot the fourth attack on most of them, but with the attacks I listed, I was good enough to win a lot of times. I miss this game.😔

I LOVED Colloseum! I never %100 finished it, but its story was amazing. Start with an Espeon and Umbreon and all were double battles, it did what I expected Ruby and Sapphire to do with the double battles. XD was good too but, in my opinion the story wasn't as good. But the numerous Shadow Moves and their mechanics (super-effective against normal, not ver effective against other Shadow Pokemon) made up for that.

The most stupid part was that a Rental NFE Pokemon had better attacks than a full evolved rental Pokemon

I remember beating boltbeaming Mewtwo in Stadium 1 with a rental team; Thunder Wave, Flash, and every Pokémon that knows Horn Drill or Fissure. Eventually that move will hit.
Dont lower Mewtwo's HP because apart from Psychic, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, he knows Rest.

Yeah, Stadium mode is required to beat the game, it's not just extra content because in both games, you unlock the games' final boss for clearing both Gym Leader Castle and Stadium Mode and the credits play only after defeating the final boss. Round 2 is extra content.
You're also definitely not expected to rely on rentals. They're there to make the game playable if you don't own the GB games, but the game came bundled with the transfer pack and was designed for fans of Pokemon who would more than likely already have completed save files of these games. Most of the games' features are locked behind requiring the transfer pack for a reason.
The choice not to use Thunder is a biig oof. Under normal circumstances, I would agree that Thunderbolt is much, much better than Thunder because of its accuracy. However, not only is Thunderbolt only available as a TM in gen 1, meaning you're more likely to rely on Thunderpunch which isn't nearly as powerful, your rentals suffer in the stat department. They really *need* that extra power. Otherwise you may be turning a two-hit kill into a three- or even four-hit kill relying on Thunderpunch instead.
The Kanto gym leaders actually aren't nearly as bad as anything in the Johto tower because you only have to battle the gym leaders with no trainers leading up. If you lose, you can just try again right away. Inconsistent strategies are actually a lot more viable here.
That said, in spite of your decisions, I have to commend you for being able to clear the Gym Leader Castle with only rentals. That is a huge feat as it's difficult even to do it with a party of GB pokemon!

I only played Stadium 1 so, it may be different with Stadium 2 but in Stadium 1. The final boss is Mewtwo and you have to beat the Stadium mode, and the Gym castle in order to face him. After when you beat Mewtwo, the credits will come up. The Stadium is a thing you have to do to beat the fucking game, that's why the game so hard (At least for 1 and it's probably for 2 as well).

Last video: Dude, winning round 1 with rentals is no biggie.
This video: agree... I won't even try to disagree, I pulled 1000 hours (not counting time spent in the minigames) easy in this game as a child and never finished Round 1.
That's another thing, stop saying the gym castle is how you complete the game, it's not! The tournaments are the main game and the gym castle the extra.
EDIT: .......there's...... a Kanto gym castle too?........... I thought the elite 4 I couldn't beat was the actual end of the game............

I've played Pokemon Stadium 2 and I've even made a Longplay of it. I completely agree with the Gym Leaders have Pokemon that make no sense like Morty in Round 2 having an Exeggutor, a psychic type in a ghost gym. He gave me so much hell.
Also even trained Pokemon will have a hard time against battles. I spent 30 minutes on Brock in round 2 because he'd keep using Fissure and it would almost always strike my Pokemon despite the 30% accuracy. That's not realistically possible, even in the handheld games. I'll be so happy to finally finish all of round 2. I just have the Challenge Cup, but even that has given me a crazy amount of hell

I feel like the HAX Rate of Stadium 2 is even more increased when you use Transfer Pak Teams. I have been using Rentals and let's just say Voltorb is your best friend;D
Self Destruct (most likely one hit KO after Thunder or Mirror Coat Kill), Mirror Coat to deal with Special Attackers, and Thunder can 2 Hit KO most Pokémon. Rain Dance helps Thunder never miss but against Fire Types is the most useful
