  • Welcome to the Official/Unoffical first video of the tech in the shop Series. James King recently upgraded his Nextwave Shark HD4 Extended to an HD 520. He asked me to come and set it up for him. Even if you do not have a Shark HD CNC this video could help you get your CNC up and running. If you are considering buying a Shark HD CNC then this video will show how easy it is to get up and running with it.
    You can find the entire line of Nextwave Shark CNC and accessories at this link.

    Hey! That looks fantastic.
    I was actually surprised by how quick you put the machine together.
    NextWave should be able to direct new owners here to to watch this.
    You made it very easy and straightforward!
    Thanks!
    James

    This is a great video. I have a PiranhaXL and wish I had a larger bed (and dust collection), so I’ve been looking at the 520 as well as some Avid and Axiom machines. These are all expensive (I know that isn’t new information.), and I won’t be able to get a larger machine anytime soon, but I can’t wait for the follow up videos on this machine to hear the logic behind the decision and hear about the machine’s rigidity. Thanks for this video!

      @mkdesignsfinewoodworking  2 года назад +1

      Thank you. It really is a great machine. I will say this much for now. The rigidity is excellent. Their tech and customer support is hands down the best I have ever dealt with. When I first started looking at CNCs I compared the HD4 Extended to the others that were readily available. And based on size, capabilities, and available upgrades the Shark was the better option for the price. I will give more detail in the videos. When I finally had the opportunity to get one I looked at the Axiom as well. It’s a great machine but the Shark still won out.

    Amazing machine and demonstration. I'm a little hesitant to make this investment. I'm older very active but not great with computers . I'll stay tuned to catch your next video tho.
    Thank you

    Michael thanks for sharing very informative.
    Quick question have you had any issues with Inverter? Mine starts up and then quits. It has less than 10 hours on my Nextwave HD520.

    How to you enjoy the next wave shark cnc
    How does it do with engraving 5 mm deep into hard wood
    Great video thanks for your time

    • @mkdesignsfinewoodworking
      @mkdesignsfinewoodworking  10 месяцев назад

      I love it! Once you have it dialed in it does fantastic with engraving. It’s not as fast as some of the higher end models but it’s not exactly slow either. Your feeds and speeds really depend more on the bit you’re using, what you’re carving, and the material.

      If you have a pendant you can use a usb with it. If you don’t have a pendant you will have to use a computer. I believe you can order a pendant for the sd110 if you don’t one.

      So thank you for responding
      I have pendant but I’m not getting the toolpath how ever it didn’t save to my flash drive

    • @mkdesignsfinewoodworking
      @mkdesignsfinewoodworking  10 месяцев назад +1

      @jim6402 that’s an issue with your computer and your save location when you save out the toolpath. As long as your usb is 16GB or less and your computer can see it when it’s plugged in, and you make sure you are selecting the USB drive when you save out the toolpath it should work fine.

    What are the dimensions of your CNC table? I have purchased a 520 and it arrives in a few days.

      @mkdesignsfinewoodworking  Год назад

      Sorry it took so long to respond. Mine is 64”x44”. James’s (the one in the video) is a bit smaller. Around 62”x42”

    • @mkdesignsfinewoodworking
      @mkdesignsfinewoodworking  Год назад

      Sorry James’s is closer to 40” wide. I bought the Kreg table and laminated 2 3/4” pieces of mdf for the top. It won’t let me post a pic.

    Nothing but issues with 2 HD520. They cant cut! Customer service is great but the machine is not a production machine and cutting 1/16th as they recomend just is not a good thing!!!!!!!!!!!! hundreds of communications between me and them. They sent every part new and still issues. There is no testing in house and there is nothing more then they can do but say we will refund you. But they want the machine back first before they refund me! worst mistake of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @mkdesignsfinewoodworking
      @mkdesignsfinewoodworking  9 месяцев назад

      First of all I am sorry you had issues. Depending on my bit size I have cut up to 1 inch per pass. I have had a few minor issues here and there but nothing more than expected with a production machine. My HD520 runs 12-16 hours a day. 5-7 days a week during my busy season and runs like a champ. Again I am sorry you had issues with yours but I am sure yours is the exception. Also, I can assure you they quality test everything they sell.
