OLD TomTom GPS 12:00AM Clock Reset Fix, Don't Throw Away Your Old Tom Tom GPS Due to WNRO 19.7 Years

- After 04/7/2019 the Rider 2013 & all the devices with GL1 GPS chip such as
TomTom One, Tome One 3rd edition, TomTom one V8, etc. aren't able to display the correct time anymore and reset to 12:00am at full GPS Signal. This will also cause them to lose some navigational functions because of this. The cause of this is the GPS Week Number
Rollover Event (WNRO) which happens every 19.7 year, and this TTconv patch takes care of this problem.

Where did you paste the patch as I cannot find the root directory or am I just stupid
@@shaketheshammy There is no folder by the name of Root Directly, the empty space outside all folders is called " Root Directory" So if you click on the " My Computer " Icon and you see all the drives such as C: Drive, D: Drive etc. The one for TomTom is the Root Directly of the TomTom. So you will copy and past it on top of that drive.

You really made me HAPPY today as your PERFECT Video helped me to fix the WNRO problem in less than 30 seconds - because you provided me with the necessary bugfix files and described all steps of updating my Tom Tom Raider K4 (2013) - and IT WORKED GREAT.
I always loved my TomTom Raider while riding my BMW R1100 GS motorcycle and even replaced the NiMH battery every three years - but navigation without time calculation was no longer possible after 04/7/2019.
I thought about throwing my beloved navi on the electronic waste....
But now this trusted friend of me will stay mounted on my bike and will lead me I guess many following years over the mountains of Europe and through many countries I have not seen yet.

@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 hey my issue is the touch screen, it is only clicking the bottom right corner. So all I can do is hit done. It won't let me go to the navigate screen or anything else, any ideas?
@@chansesArmstrong Since you didn't mention which model of TomTom you have, I am assuming it is an old TomTom One, or One XL. If so, you need to replace the touch screen because in this model of TomTom there is no Screen Calibration option. Although f you are good at coding, you can create a Text file to manually manipulate the calibration and fix the issue, but if the touch screen is defective even that will not work. The touch screen is not as expensive as the screen itself, and you can find them for $5 or so on eBay. The touchscreen is called " Digitizer " so make sure to search for that when you are shopping for it.

brilliant piece of work, I got tom tom xl for a very long time and i using it every day, but since tomtom xl time not functioning properly, i really thought buying a new one, but i dont want to throw a way my tom tom xl coz its working fine. so once again thanks a million times for this patch, i was searching for a long time to fix this bug, but now it solved.

If you contact Tom Tom they will offer. You 10% I have two Tom Tom. Ones and it says lifetime updates included! So I wasnt best pleased when they both failed on a trip!

It worked on my dads TOMTOM Start. I was almost giving up on getting it to work and was about to throw it in the bin. Then found this fix. The TOMTOM site was a complete waist of time. None of the software could even see the TOMTOM start. :)

What is the patch fixing solution for a XXL TomTom
That's funny...I just brought out my old TomTom after not using it for YEARS and noticed the time was 12:00am, but it really WAS 12:00am so I didn't even notice the issue at first! Got that fixed thanks to you. Now if only I could find a maps archive somewhere so I could update those.
You are very welcome, and I am sure you will be able to find the maps too. Try online GPS forums but be careful as most sites where you get free or opensource software will have some spyware, adware, or viruses.

Great video. I've just dug my old Tom Tom xl out the drawer expecting it not to work due to the clock but it does. 🙂 It even gets a signal in the house. Only thing it doesnt do is when the clock is set it goes back to 12am.
This process should fix the 12:00am Clock issue.

@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 You're welcome. I scoured the internet to find a way to make my old tomtom work again and almost gave up. It is now finding satellites again. Sadly locking onto them takes several minutes which might make the unit unusable for me. But hey at least we tried!
@@volvogt21 Keep in mind that only if the unit was off for a long time the satellite detection takes long. Otherwise it should be in less than one minute.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 cheers mate. It gets a fix eventually. I timed it last night after not having had a fix for a day and it took 10 minutes out in the open standing still. Sadly this makes it a little useless to me. It was fun trying though!

Het werkte perfect. Dank je wel. Nu nog een nieuwe map van West-Europa vinden. Heel erg om zo veel goed werkende apparaten weg te gooien. Mijn nieuwe tomtom werkt veel minder snel dan de XL. Translation: It worked perfect. Now to find a new map of western europe. What a waste to throw away functioning devices. My new tomtom is not so fast as the old XL.

I just pulled out my old TomTom XL IQ and charged it. I tried the patch. It set the time correctly until I took it outside then it reset back to midnight. I tried copying the files over a second time just to make sure nothing was missed. Same result. I’m glad this fix worked for a lot of folks, but it didn’t work for me.
For the XL IQ you don't need this patch instead you need to upgrade the NavCore to version 9.5 or higher.

It worked for my Tom Tom XXL! Fantastic! Did it on my Macbook. The Tom Tom XXL is the best GPS ever, awesome large text. I've had all the later models, but the graphics and all the extra features on the late models are rubbish. I will stick with my XXL!

Hi Geoff Rowdon, I am trying to do this on my MacBook Pro 2017 but I don't know how to install the patch on MacOS so I would be grateful if you would tell me how you did that. I don't know how to see the root directory. Apple says "It's safer to use the sudo command in Terminal instead of enabling the root user."
@@ebgamlen3455 Hi Elisabeth, unfortunately without going through the painful procedure again, I really can’t remember or explain how it is done, from what I can remember, you need to download that repair patch to your MacBook desktop, plug in your Tom to your Mac, then open the Tom Tom file and just drag and drop the patch into the Tom Tom file and the magic just seemed to happen. Follow any prompts to replace or update etc your Tom Tom. I also have about 5 more Tom Tom XXL which have various other problems, I’ll pick out one and see if I can document the procedure for you. Do you live in Australia? I’m in Melbourne

I really like my XXL, I spend a lot of time on the road in melbourne metro, which is great for the XXL, so easy to operate in a hurry, I also use google maps too when my Tom is missing a few new roads and traffic reports, but I hate google maps graphics and the tiny text info and the horrible way the map automatically changes in to zoom mode, very annoying when trying to judge distances, I end up screaming mad at its over complicated software

Does anyone know of a work around to update the maps?
Even though my maps are on the SD card TomTom Home says I cannot update my maps on this "old" device "due to limited internal memory".
I am wondering if a copy of the map was available if you could simply drag it onto the SD card and replace the out of date one?
I am glad it worked for you, yes you can but have to first unlock the TomTom which means patching the Navcore and then activating the maps. It is a long process because you need to have a program called Fast Active. You need to search for it on GPS forums

Wow, an easy 3 minute fix. A YT hack that actually works. Good on you. My Thomas Thomas One 4.3 XL now keeps correct time and gives proper estimates to the destination.

Thank you for spending the time to share this information . I have updated my old Tom Tom GO 720 , The clock did reset but the unit is frozen on the Legal Notice screen ? Battery is charged and unit has been Reset . Any input would be great .
Press the reset button at the bottom of the unit with a needle and see if that fixes it. If not you will need to download the latest Navcore for it, such as 9.5 which already has the clock fix in it.

This is a bit confusing!
I live in the UK and have just bought a TomTom Rider 550 which is my first ever sat nav device.
The time of day shown when I bring up a route on the unit is correct (although I cannot see a date anywhere).
When I boot up the device and continue to hold the On button to bring up the info screen the time of day is wrong and more significantly the date is shown as August 17 1970.
I can understand this GPS chip issue affecting much older devices but surely not on a brand new one?
Hi, no it does not effect the new ones, all you have to do is get the firmware update and it will be good to go. You can also go outside under the clear sky and the GPS will get the Time and Date form the Satellites, a cloudy sky is also OK.

Hi, I already have a battery replacement video for the TomTom GO720 GPS below is the link for it. However the freezing problem has nothing to do with the battery because it should work fine with external power too. So for that I think you need to reinstall your Navicore. For some reason, once transporting your download files im getting message saying TomTom has not got enough space on device, however I have reseted the device to factory inorder to remove any additional saved files in the past and still getting the message of (there is not enough space on device)?
What you need to do is delete a couple of voice files that you don't use. For example there are voice language files in many different foreign language which is completely useless if you don't speak that language; and they take a lot of space on the GPS.

I seem to have missed something here. Non of the drives come up when I connect to a pc. Plus where have you got the files that your dragging from? You can see in the header that it’s not stored on the nav as it says click fix.
1. When you connect it to the PC the TomTom GPS screen asks you if you want to connect with the PC and you have to click YES
2. The files are available for download at the bottom of the video which is the Video Description.
3. After downloading it you must unzip it, only then you will see all the files.
