About 3 years ago I discovered an all-female Japanese rock band called Band-Maid and became an immediate fan. Soon after a band called Lovebites was in my RUclips recommendations list so I decided to give them a try. I watched their mv for the song Rising and thought that there was no way they could be this good. Then I watched the mv for When Destinies Align and my jaw hit the floor. I have now listened to many Japanese bands. Band-Maid and Lovebites remain my favorite Japanese bands by quite a distance and are easily in my top 25 bands ever (I am nearing my 62nd birthday). Lovebites is in my top 5 metal bands all time, only behind Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Tool and Mastodon. I am sure it has been mentioned, but Lovebites will be releasing their 4th full album in February called Judgment Day. They will also be uploading the mv to the song Judgment Day on 12/23 at 10 am eastern time in the US. I expect they will be in Europe next summer for a tour and hopefully late additions to a few festivals. I am also very much hoping for a fall US tour.
We are late to the game, but are getting there 🙂 We have band-Maid on our list of requests, which we will record soon. Lovebites are definitely an awesome discovery. Already climbing our lists of favourites after just one song! They are truly FIRE!

@@myindieprodentertainment I am glad that Band-Maid is on your list. I saw them in Dallas on 10/21 and they put on a fantastic 18 song show. Their US tour was a big success beginning with Aftershock in California and then 13 shows across the country ending in Chicago on 11/1. Besides world class musical talent they are one of the most fun bands you will ever see because of their interaction with the audience. Quite an accomplishment for a band that is limited in their English.

From the moment LOVEBITES chose a white, feminine costume that could be described as a heresy in the metal scene, they were prepared to become lone wolves. They made the wolf their symbol. People who were bitten by LOVEBITES started calling themselves "Wolfpack".

On November 25th, 2022 LOVEBITES announced their 4th album. The new album "JUDGEMENT DAY" will be released on February 22nd, 2023 and it will be the first with the new bassist Fami. Furthermore, 2 live concerts on March 11th and 12th, 2023 in Tokyo were announced, also for the first time with Fami on bass.
The LOVEBITES fans (Wolfpack) are happy now.
Miyako + Midori are the best guitar duo in 3 decades ! Thanks for this reaction video. All 5 Lovebites women are masters. These Ladies write, compose and arrange their own songs. Almost 50 premium songs in 5 years and not a single weak song. Masters in live playing and geniuses in composing. LOVEBITES: Their gimmick is their ability! - This women play different styles, but always hard and fast. Thrash Metal + Power Metal + Speed Metal + Metal Ballads.

They're actually older than they look ! Miyako for example ( dark haired guitarist ) would have been 30 when this was recorded . The most amazing thing is that both guitarists Miyako and Midori only started playing guitar at the ages of 19 and 20 . Miyako is a classically trained pianist and Midori started on piano then moved to organ before guitar . Asami the vocalist has an R&B background . Haruna ( drummer ) is a 147cm tall powerhouse .

First time seeing Lovebites is a shock to the system. It’s only when you get into double digits, track wise, that you accept as fact that everything else you will hear from them is going to be as consistently good, and very varied. It took me (63) just 30 seconds of listening to them for the first time to decide that I had a new favourite band and that at last I could start listening to music again…seeing as there hasn’t been any for about 10 years at least. This is the best group of musicians ever to grace the stage of a rock concert..any time, any era.
We are extremely impressed after just one song. Looking forward to what's to come.

But you were wrong in some way. This concert was during covid, when many bands didn't perform or just made online concerts. At this concert, the audience was forbidden to jump, scream, etc. They could only clap. But they were happy to see their favourite band! If you want more emotions from the audience, watch live video "Holy War" from official Lovebites RUclips channel. This is a perfect song... like other Lovebites songs. All of them are amazing and all of them are different.
Lovebites always wear white dresses, always on high heels. They always play solos and almost always these are duoling solos. You must watch them more. In addition to the song "Holy War", I recommend you the song "Swan Song with Chopin intro". You will open for you another side of this band.

FYI - They are all around the age of 30 at the time of this video. They do look much younger than that to me too.
Yes, all we said is that they look young. Without the benefit of reading up on them it's all we had to go by. We thought they might range from late teens to mid-20s. This was one of the first concerts after Japan began allowing shows post covid and the audience were strictly told how they can and can't act. The ladies LOOK young but I believe they are all in their 30s. Asami, the singer (band name "the one and only voice") is a trained soul/R&B singer. This is her first metal band. Haruna, the drummer (band name "little big engine") is 4'9" of drum destruction. The fans are called the Wolfpack because the band uses wolves as part of their bymbology. You mention how well Asami carries herself. She studied ballet for many years. Hence all her graceful & fluid movements.
You will see her at her most beautiful when you watch 'A Frozen Serenade'. A gorgeous dance interlude in the middle of the performance.

Thanks for the reaction! LOVEBITES are the GODDESSES of heavy , power , thrash metal ! In 2018 , LOVEBITES won the prestigious Metal Hammer GOLDEN GODS Award for "Best New Band" (London,UK). The winners of the GOLDEN GODS Award in different years and in various categories were such famous bands and musicians,such as : Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Twisted Sister, Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister, Zakk Wylde, Nikki Sixx, Joe Perry, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Slayer, Saxon, Nightwish, Rammstein, Sabaton, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy (and this is not a complete list).
LOVEBITES is a Japanese female power metal band, formed in 2016 by former Japanese heavy metal band DESTROSE members Miho( bass,backing vocals) and Haruna(drums). The band has successfully performed at various major international rock-festivals many times .In the spring of 2018, LOVEBITES performed on the Japanese leg of the Warped Tour. In August 2018, they performed at Wacken Open Air (Germany), becoming the first Japanese female rock band to perform at the festival. Also in August 2018 they performed on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air (UK). In 2019, LOVEBITES performed at the Download Festival in Donington (UK) and Download Festival in Madrid (Spain). Their performance in Donington was named by the festival organizers and Metal Hammer magazine as one of the highlights of the festival! In the same year they performed at the Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) and the Summer Sonic Festival (Japan). Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic that began in 2020 prevents LOVEBITES from performing at festivals and forced a drastic reduction of concerts.
LOVEBITES is a phenomenal band, all the ladies are talented musicians! For 5 years they have recorded about 50 songs and all the songs are very good!
🐺Miho - bass, backing vocals (in August 2021 she left the band).
🐺Haruna - drums.
🐺Midori - guitars, backing vocals.
🐺Miyako (Mi-Ya)- guitars, piano, keyboards, backing vocals.
🐺Asami - lead vocals, piano.
🐺Fami - bass, backing vocals (since October 2022).
🐺Miho has been playing the piano since the age of 5. She started playing the bass guitar in school. Great bass player! The fact that such a wonderful band appeared is, first of all, the merit of Miho. She came up with the idea of starting a band and what kind of music the band would play, a combination of power metal and "old school" heavy metal. Miho was able to find and unite all these talented ladies in LOVEBITES.
🐺Haruna has played drums since she was thirteen years old, she also plays keyboards. Haruna is the smallest (4 '9 ") , but appearances are deceiving. When Haruna sits down at the drums, this is the "little BIG Engine." She is one of the best drummers in Japan.
🐺Midori (blond hair) has been playing the piano since she was two years old and the electric organ since she was eight. She started studying guitar at the age of 20. Super guitarist, "Crazy Shredder". She surpasses many male guitarists in speed and technique of playing the guitar.
Graduated from ESP / MI JAPAN Osaka , GIT-DX department (superfast guitar department). ESP / MI JAPAN Osaka is an international music school , headquartered in Hollywood, California, USA.
🐺Miyako (black hair) has been playing the piano since the age of three, received a classical education (piano) and wanted to pursue a career as a pianist. She has been playing the guitar since the age of 18. Super guitarist! They call her "The Golden Touch" and she is a real musical genius. Miyako is the main composer of the band, she wrote over 50% of the music.
* In terms of teamwork , synchronization and harmonization of guitars , Midori and Miyako today are perhaps the best pair of guitarists in the world playing metal. One music critic said that two guitarists of this level (Midori and Miyako) in the same band is a crime!😊
🐺Asami started with R&B and soul music . She studied classical ballet for about 16 years (this is noticeable in her movements on stage, especially the movements of her hands). Started ballet lessons at the age of two. After leaving school, Asami lived for some time in the US, where she came to study jazz and hip hop dance. Plays the piano. Asami wrote most of the lyrics of the band's songs.
All songs LOVEBITES are written in English. Unlike other metal bands, LOVEBITES are always on stage in white dresses . White dresses are their style. The Wolf is the mascot of LOVEBITES and is featured on all band's albums except the first EP "The Lovebites". The band's fans call themselves the 🐺Wolfpack🐺

I read that the bass player and the drummer formed the band together and them sort out the other members sad bass player left but at least one of the founding members is still there.

In December 2014, Haruna left the band. She got married and stopped her career as a musician for a while.
In July 2015, the DESTROSE disbanded.
In 2016, Miho decided to start a new band and invited Haruna to join her.
Midori, Miyako, and Asami then joined the band. It is often written that the band was created by Miho and Haruna. Basically it is. But it all started with Miho. Miho owns the idea of creating a band, what kind of music the band will play, etc.
Yes, 80s thrash metal coupled with Lovebites' unique sound which includes top notch drumming by 4' 9" Haruna, heavy bass chug by Miho (former bassist, now replaced by Fami), breath-taking vocals by 4' 11" Asami (R&B background), and of course out of this world guitar playing and solos by Midori (blonde) and Miyako (dark-hair). AKA "M&M", who as far as I'm concerned are the best tandem in metal today PERIOD. Nobody compliments each other better than them and certainly NOONE harmonizes anywhere close to how they do it. My favorite band and the best in the genre for me...and I grew up listening to the Big 4, Priest, Maiden, Motorhead, Ozzy, Dio, Sabbath, etc. These ladies have reinvigorated metal! They are impeccable live (on YT anyways).🤘🐺

Not exactly 'young'. All are in their 30's, except Haruna (drums) who is 28/29. The Wolf is the spirit animal of Lovebites. There is a Wolf or Wolves on every Release except their 1st EP. They say they are the Lone Wolves of Metal, trying to revive the old-school Heavy Metal sound (why you heard 80'-90's influences). They are all tiny, and they wear white to show up better on stage. They say they wear pretty dresses and jewelry because they see no reason they can't be feminine and play heavy Metal (nailed it🙂) Talent is off the charts, and the best LIve recording engineers in the business. I'm not 100% sure, but Haruna may be a little older than that. She doesn't share her age publicly, but there was a photo circulating last year that, according to its caption, was from her 29th birthday in 2020. Unfortunately, I can no longer find that photo, so I can't verify if it was captioned correctly, but if it was, then she will be 31 at the end of this month. But again, I can't confirm if the date captioned in that photo was correct, so it is possible she is as young as you said. Miyako is the only one who openly shares her age, she is now 32.

@@garykeeling2275 Based on the information that I have been able to find out over the past 1.5-2 years, Haruna is (according to my calculations) most likely 28-29 years old. But I can be wrong too. 😊Unfortunately, I did not manage to find a detailed biography of all the members of the band. All the information that I managed to find out was obtained from a large number of different sources and in small portions. In addition, traditionally, many Japanese ladies do not indicate their age. The exception is Miyako. You are right, she is 32 years old.
Let's be honest does the age matter that a lot of talent there. The fact that they sing in English. They are wearing dresses and besides the drummer wearing heels. All while playing power metal at speed you could only find from bands that have the European style is just beyond what you would expect.
@@evacody1249 Haruna never drums in heels. She wears very cute red sneakers (Skechers I think) - they are one of her trademarks. There IS a video of her coming down from her kit after a show in some heels she put on before she came down. Maybe to help her to not look even shorter than she is (4'9") with all the others who are all taller, And in heels. She was unsteady on her feet, and almost fell into the crowd throwing her sticks out - Twice 😧. Haven't seen them since then.

The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)

Miyako is the main composer and arranger of the band, but all band members compose. Miyako is a virtuoso on piano and guitars, and plays bass, bass guitar, violin and and a little drums! She also does vocal harmonies with Asami.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence thus far, they have easily put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-long hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 and their fans eagerly await their next move. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics. With Miho having left for personal reasons, they recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." They have so easily revived a longing for old style metal that has been previously fulfilled for me, Itai (which, by the way, means "ouch" in Japanese. I beg your pardon, but comparing LOVEBITES to SPICE GIRLS🙃 is an insult to LOVEBITES🤗 Dancing and singing pop band and one of the best metal bands of our time😂. In LOVEBITES, all the ladies are fluent in musical instruments and surpass most male metal bands in terms of skill.
It seemed to me that you were joking about the behavior of the audience in the hall?! 🤔I will clarify the conditions under which the concert took place.
This concert took place on March 26, 2021. At the beginning of 2021, a new wave of Covid-19 began in Japan. A very tense situation was created, many people got sick, many died ! The Japanese government declared a state of emergency.The LOVEBITES concert tour was rescheduled from January 2021 to March - April 2021 and took place with mandatory anti-COVID safety measures: the hall was not completely filled (the number of viewers is limited, many people who wanted to get to the concert could not buy tickets) maintaining social distance between people, viewers must stay where they are, everyone is wearing masks, are not allowed to express their emotions loudly (shouting, sing ), only applause is allowed, etc.
LOVEBITES risked their health during a concert that lasted 2 hours! Unlike the audience, they were not wearing masks. In addition, Miyako (brunette, guitars Dean ) was 4 or 5 months pregnant !!! In August or September 2021, she gave birth to a baby.
Please read the following text very carefully and thoughtfully...and imagine yourself in Miyako's place:
- playing technically complex music (guitar, piano, keyboards),
- performing backing vocals ,
- 2 hours , 18 songs,
- and this is already the third concert of the LOVEBITES tour in different cities,
- while being 4 or 5 MONTHS PREGNANT,
- during the Covid-19 pandemic, when you can get infected and infect the unborn baby.....
And Miyako did a great job with her role! In terms of skill, the pregnant Miyako surpasses most male guitarists who are in good physical shape ! 🤘😊 Sorry if my text seemed too harsh to you. Nothing personal. Just the facts. Once again, thanks for the reaction!👍😊
First, the Spice Girls comment is a joke, it's not meant to be taken seriously. We clearly see that the girls in Lovebites are several times over more talented than the Spice Girls... and that's just from one song! As for joking about the audience, we joke about a lot of things in our reactions, it's just the way we approach this, lightheartedly. We also mentioned that it is probably due to Covid. Nothing we joke about is meant to be taken seriously, but we do try to also add more serious comments in reacting to the music and the acts performing it, as we did here. These girls are truly AMAZING. They caught us completely off-guard as to just how good! We look forward to getting into more of their songs and, as you might see in all the comments, we got a huge amount of suggestions/requests, so this will be a long-term commitment for us 😉

They have a song called "When Destinies Align" from their third album. There's a line in the lyrics that goes, "It is failure that has brought us here," and that line is a reference to their musical careers before forming LOVEBITES.
Miho the bass guitarist and Haruna the drummer were in an influential but not very prolific band called Destrose that's now more known for how many of its huge rotating lineup went on to form other bands.
Midori, the blonde guitarist, was in a three piece metal group called Gekijo☆METALicche that lasted for three years and didn't make much of an impact.
Miyako, the brunette guitarist who was pregnant during this concert, was in a band called A Drop of Joker which lasted from 2013 to 2016 and, as far as I can tell, also didn't make much of an impact. She was also in a band I liked better, 21g (twenty-one grams), from 2014 until their final show in 2019. Lastly, she was one half of a duo called Sonic Lover Reckless that put out a three-song EP (which I own, but I had to promise to never reveal where I got it from), played a show or two, and then never did anything else.
Asami, the singer, was a live backup singer two a couple of rock groups (from what I've heard I'd call them pop rock) and a rap artist. The earliest video I've seen of Asami comes from Christmas in 2011 where she starts off a song by herself singing in Budokan for Uverworld, the spotlight directly on her, and she nails it perfectly. Then she disappears for the rest of the song. She also had a solo r&b and soul career, but that wasn't going anywhere either.
So yeah, these five ladies formed LOVEBITES and started rising through the ranks of the rock and metal scene in Japan. They've played overseas a number of times (never in North America as a group, though they've all been here individually) and each of their live releases have been from progressively larger venues. In August of 2021, Miho left the band for undisclosed reasons. Not too long ago, after a lengthy audition process, 20 year old Fami was announced as their new bass guitarist.
It is awesome finding out all these little details about them. Quite fascinating. We are intrigued to find out more about their music as we go. We are already big fans.

Ha, the Spice Girls thing in the thumbnail was clickbait, right? 🤣 Well, it worked on me! When you said you'd be out of your seat, I was thinking, man, and they haven't even gotten to the solo section yet! They have amazing technical skill, yes, but it's not just shredding for the sake of shredding. These solos - and Lovebites solos in general - are beautiful, and they fit in perfectly with the song.
Yes, it was a tongue-in-cheek, "clickbait-y" kind of thing. Lol. We obviously were EXTREMELY impressed with Lovebites and are not really Spice Girls fans, so... 😉 And yes, we would have been out of our seats early, but when they hit "the good parts", we'd likely just stand there picking up our jaws off the floor! 😂 We love that this was a first-time reaction to the band overall as it caughts completely off-guard. You misread their ages. These are not some teenage idol band but sophisticated, mature ladies in their late twenties or early thirties. It's understandable I suppose. Japanese women always seem to look younger to western eyes. There is one very young member onstage however. The dark haired guitarist with then Dean guitar on the right was about four to five months pregnant at this concert.
We said they LOOKED young. We had no idea as we never researched them prior to the reaction, to keep it as genuine and real as possible. Yes, it's amazing she played pregnant and totally smashed it as well. We didn't even notice a bump or any hint of her being pregnant. She was awesome. They are all awesome! They are not younger anymore, all their age are over 30, Asami (vocal) and Miyako (guitar,black hair) is now a mom. Comparison to Dio or Black Sabbath are so different for them. If you want to listen heavy music and heavy riff, react to a trio band Ningen Isu with a songs Heartless Scat, Namahage or Toshishun.

Itai you will never not notice Haruna. She is always playing interesting stuff and IMHO she is up there with Keith Moon and Neil Peart for always being interesting in their playing. Some drummers are just time keepers but not Haruna.

It's not an insult. It's a title for a video that asks a question that gets answered in the video. Anyone watching the video can clearly see we are not comparing Lovebites to Spice Girls. We think they are freaking awesome! It's a tongue-in-cheek comment, not an insult in any way whatsoever.
If you watched the video, you should be able to easily understand that... ffs
The members of Wolfpack(Fan club) highly recommend live videos.
LOVEBITES is better with live videos than with music videos.
In our experience, live videos outside of LOVEBITES have often not been as reproducible as music videos.
However, since the release of the album, the girls have practiced and improved on some of the songs, and have recreated songs that would be impossible to recreate in a live performance. All are tight performances.
There are many others, which we have included below.
Please watch at your leisure.

In my opinion, in the music videos for these three songs, Miyako&Midori seem to play slightly more complex or slightly longer solos than in Live.
Also, Asami keeps her high tones more beautifully in her music videos than in her LIVE performances.
The girls will recreate these three songs, which would be difficult to recreate in a music video, as tightly as possible in Live.
