This band is out of this world, every single member is. But in this song in particular, M&M are just sick beyond belief. Those solos are just crazy great 🥵
When they thrash, they thrash as well as any band in existence (and MUCH better than most). Their songs are very well written and performed to absolute perfection. It's criminal that Lovebites aren't better known.
Have this concert on DVD and what amazing me is Haruna. Nearly 2 hour set and she is not dripping sweaty. Fresh lika slow walk in the park. What stamina that lady have behind the drums. Just wow!
The other thing that is so impressive about that dual harmonised guitar solo is that, not ONLY were they tight and on point with every note, but they did that while being on OPPOSITE SIDES of the stage and not even looking at each other at any moment. This 2 women are incredible.
That was just the most fun I've had in a WHILE. Thanks to my fellow patrons for pushing this one ahead, and thanks to DH for putting this one up today! This was easily worth the score. The solos were RIDICULOUS, every woman on the stage was playing her heart out, and playing PERFECTLY, and it was a JOY to watch and listen to.
This is the most talented band on earth. There has never been a band with twin leads that can play harmonies this technical and tight. BTW - Slayer wishes they could write, compose and play at this level..
Don’t forget Slayer was doing this style of music before these girls parents were probably born. You can’t hate on slayer and like this band. But I do agree these girls are so much tighter than slayer. Dave Lombardo is a legend in thrash metal. I guarantee the drummer in lovebites has studied his techniques. This song reminds a lot of slayer elements off of the reign in blood album. These girls know who to listen to on how to perfect their craft. This is amazing stuff!!!!
You should check out Marty Friedman and Jason Becker. They toured all over Japan in the 80’s. Two neoclassical guitarists that heavily influenced most of if not all Japanese guitarist of today. Yngwie Malmsteen started the neoclassical sound in 1983. I hear Yngwie Malmsteen in both guitarists in lovebites. It’s great to see these two young guitarists continue the neoclassical playing and take it to another level.
I love Lovebites, but always this overhyping is ...stupid. ofc the Ladies are phenomenal good ( they also work extremely hard for that) and at the moment i don't see for me better Players, but ofc there are and where also other great Players.
I agree that they are the most talented band on DEarth (that I have heard/seen, but not actually in person). They are impossibly talented. My favorite band to watch and listen to live performances and one day I hope to see them. They wouldn't be where they are without some of the bands that came before them, as they have many influences, but at the same time, even without those bands they'd still be amazing. They probably are the tightest live band in history too. If they had come around in the 80s they'd be one of the most legendary bands in history. It's a bit of a shame that guitar solos and metal are more of a niche at the moment - at least in the US - and that they are a little obscure being in Japan and few know them, but I hope they get their due soon!

Miyako and Midori spend hours together before and during a tour to make sure they are locked in with each other. They both know it takes a lot of work to get to near perfection live and they put in that work.
Great reaction - Thanks!! glad you really enjoyed the song! It's one of my personal favorites by them. Have to admit though that I am completely shocked that (winning the poll aside) I was the only one who requested this, I was expecting to be just one name among many. As you probably guessed, this was Miho's final live performance with Lovebites. Also, perhaps making her performance even more impressive, but Miyako was at least 5 or 6 months pregnant at this concert.
Definitely a top 5 Lovebites song for me. As excellent as this is, the album version is even more brutal, especially Haruna's drums. Still, the main joy in this is to see them pull it off live. Great reaction!
I just went and listened to the album version. I have to agree, Haruna's drums are dominant in the mix, and there are some other subtle differences from the live version. The album version pulls back the volume in the chorus a bit too much for my taste - I want to hear Asami scream "On Fire!" like she does in the live versions. What a performance!! Thrash metal done beautifully!! 🤘What a band!! Haruna slaying those drums!! 🔥 Awesome score!! One of their heaviest tracks, and the whole solo section is out of this world!! Thanks David!! 🤘
Since 1982 I discovered Iron Maiden and they were my favorite band, in 2022 I discovered Lovebites, they took Maiden's place as my favorite. This song gets a 9/10. I only rate in increments of 0.5. My 10/10 is Soldier Stands Solitarily 🤘
Yeah, they are as precise and accurate thogether as a swiss watch. Songs like this are always a nice hello to everyone categorizing them as a pure power metal band. On their new album, they have "Dissonance" for that 🤘🏻🙂
Liked to hear your "protesting pigs" again. It means you want to go back to see something special again. This song is not my favorite, but the guitar work is outstanding.
Great reaction David. I’m no musician, but I know virtuosity when I hear it. This was the song the label chose to release to promote the tour video when that was released on BluRay. When this came on my daily Lovebites reaction trawl I fully expected the reaction you gave. One, because I was confident that their talent would impress you and two because I know you know what you’re talking about. Whether or not the song is good, the performance of it is breathtaking. But I have to tell you that in comparison with at least three songs on “Judgement Day” this is almost a ballad. And it’s now only by left or right channel and tone, or if you read the lyrics booklet, that you can work out who’s soloing because Miyako’s lessons from Midori, and her endless practice, have paid off. There’s nothing between them now, speed wise. The last song on the album, “Soldier Stands Solitarily” would be fantastic for you to react to…though the only visual available is a really cool section of the launch stream of the album that the band did, with English captions. So I’m politely requesting you react to this please. ruclips.net/video/jeL6FHQ01V4/видео.html
Miyako described "Set The World On Fire" as Thrash Metal. The album's producer Steve Jacobs had them change the middle arrangements just before recording. From the album Electric Pentagram Lyrics: Asami Music: Miyako Watanabe Arrangement: Miyako/Lovebites
Right from the guitar solo this was at least a 9.3 because your mind was blown no matter what you say. The fact that you didn't know until the first break what Haruna was doing with the double kick says a lot about how great she is. I think you should have gave it a 9.5 but a 9.3 is the lowest it should be.
That was fun watching D.H. dear lording it. 😂 Almost as funny as seeing a pregnant Miyako looking bored whilst playing guitar and singing the chorus. Thanks for pointing out how difficult it is to do what Midori and Miyako did. They make it look so easy, as does Haruna without breaking a sweat.
A pleasure as always to hear your musical knowledge in action, David. Keep it up! This is not one of my favorites but they tend to impress with their skills... 😀
Great reaction Dave, the ladies of Lovebites getting better every new album. This song has some great old school thrash metal riffs, but the solo's are much better than most of the Slayer solo's.
Show me a better duo today... not LOG, Trivium, A7X, not Megadeth, certainly not Metallica. Priest, maybe back in the day, but their harmonies were much shorter. Maiden duo is great, but not anywhere near the speed M&M play. Just my subjective opinion. And like you said, they make it look SO EASY. Not only is Miyako playing a Dimebag Dean, but she's 5mos pregnant during this show; she is metal AF. Great react David, a respectable score. #533 in the queue, lol. 🤘
You could feel it....amen and this is with COVID restrictions ( 50% capacity, social distancing, no yelling or singing, just clapping allowed) a sterile environment and they still brought the LB thunder to rock the house. Miyako was 3/4 months pregnant and went hard for the whole 2 hour set. Harmonize you say, yeah the M&M show at their best. They actually practice together away from the band to make sure they are perfect. As you noticed Midori has really gotten Miyako to step up and together they are the best duo live this old rocker has ever experienced. Miyako is really getting to love that wah pedal!!! Takes a lot to knock David off his routine, he got the LB snack down. Their new album Judgment Day is just like this song, in your face and frying your brain.
Thrash Metal doesn't get better than this! In my comment to the original video, I wrote "On a quality scale from 1 to 10, Lovebites play on 11!" This is definitely one of my overall favourite songs by Lovebites, the studio version also being my favourite song on "Electric Pentagram". It was fun to see how much you enjoyed it! 9.3 is one of your highest ratings for a Lovebites-song, and in this case it must have been mostly because of the song itself, because it didn't allow them to move around as much as they did in "Raise Some Hell", which I think got a 9.4, but mostly because of the showmanship displayed in that live performance.
Excellent song structure. Intro 1-Intro2-verse1-bridge-verse2-chorus-bridge-verse3(!!!)-chorus-breakdown-Midori solo-Miyako solo-harmony solo-verse 4-Miyako solo2-verse 5-chorus-outro I'm struggling to think about any song ever with such a structure The harmony solo... the right hands go from a sweep to a pick tap back to a sweep back to the pick tap... 99% of guitarists couldn't pull it off cleanly, much less do it in time with their partner, not even pointing out AT THAT TEMPO, oh I just did PS, anyone shouting or screaming these lyrics would come off as cheesy, cringy even, Awesomi's delivery is somewhat scary, and captures the mood of the music very well
For me, I fan boy over Haruna for her drum playing in this song. Obviously the M &M show is beyond compare but watching Haruna is just spellbinding. How can she play at this speed and tempo and not, unless post produced out, make one mistake? Comparing her to the Cozy Powells (showing my age) they would be dripping in sweat and pulling the most extraordinary faces. As you mentioned in your Junna review, watching some drummers, you wonder if they are having a seizure! Not Haruna, she is smiling and singing along in some parts at even at the end of the song looks like she has just played lesson one, in the Play Drums Today, book. Glad you appreciated the Lovebites lady's could not be high on stage presence and movement for this song. I believe there are not many other bands today who could play this song live at this proficiency. This concert always tinges me with sadness. It is the last concert that Miho plays her bass for Lovebites. It is my understanding that none of the other Lovebites Lady's knew that she would make this her last appearance.
Holy HELL! This one’s a jaw-dropper for sure - I think it’s the thrashiest thing I’ve heard them done yet. The riffs come fast and hard here as the group returns to their delusions of psuedo-religious grandeur, describing the adversity they’re fighting off as though their bodies have been burned and sent to literal hell, and then they’re rising back up out of it because THEY ARE JUST THAT BADASS. Next checking out more lovebites song's,like Journey To The Other Side.(this song is dedicated for miho's father when he passed away)
I Always enjoy yr reactions... When you finally get to their latest album You'll shit yr self when you listen with Fami the new bassist in the lineup. The compositions are stellar and better than ever
Fami doesn't headbang like Miho did but she makes up for it in the many techniques she brings to the table as heard in newer songs like Judgement Day and Stand And Deliver (Shoot "Em Down)
Ink Spots version was actually used as the intro for Megadeth song "Set The World Afire" from the "So Far, So Good, So What" album but I'm sure you already knew that? 😁
Great song, unfortunately a strange "C" mood in the audience, Miyako pregnant (that's how children are shaped 😁, i.e. in the womb on stage). with 9.3 You hit my forecast rating exactly. The band developed a lot during and after the hiatus. Asami's pregnancy made her significantly stronger and more powerful, the band has improved significantly in all areas, even Haruna has significantly increased her cymbal work again, and believe me Fami is the absolute hit, Miho's position was very difficult to replace I was already worried the most, I discovered and subscribed to Fami's RUclips Channel in 2018. At the auditions I didn't have Fami on my radar at all, after the announcement I was so deeply relaxed and extremely satisfied. The band knows exactly what they're doing. great reaction
LOL when you hear Judgement Day you will have your mind blown every member of the band used the year hiatus to get even faster and better including Asami on vocals. also you will notice how ripped Midori is she had won 2nd place in a bodybuilding competition shortly before the recording. Also Fami starts this song on bass and also does the outtro. Judgement Day ruclips.net/video/IF3NLN4D6a4/видео.html
wait till you see Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'Em Down) not only are both solos awesome but the beginning with Fami on Bass is also very impressive. also all the girls singing is amazing in this gem. Stand And Deliver (Shoot 'Em Down) ruclips.net/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/видео.html
Only thing that i don't like about Lovebites is the price of the tickets, $580 Dollar for a ticket in Sapporo is a bit much! They should play in bigger arena's and lower the price to $100 to $150 Dollars.
@@georges9326 It's Victor entertainment who does this, they go to small venues with only 400 seats, so they can't break even, so they up the price for the fans, very bad !

LOVEBITES - Set The World On Fire lyrics:
The blue moon colors the blaze
Stabbing myself with the thunder
The predetermined imitation
An emotionless and a fearless smile
Flowing blood and crimson blade
Devastated resolution
Heat haze is waving far away
Who’s going to be sacrificed?
ON FIRE
Just like a falling flower
ON FIRE
Until this body rots away
Burning down to the Gates of Hell
Distorted madness is sneering
Incompetent, cowardly fools
A pitiful and painful punishment
It’s you who will be sacrificed
ON FIRE
Dressed in an armor of steel
ON FIRE
If I’m burned again and again
I’ll rise up from the Gates of Hell
SOLO: midori / miyako / both
The blue moon colors blaze
Stabbing myself with the thunder
The predetermined imitation
An emotionless and fearless smile
SOLO: miyako
Flowing blood and crimson blade
Devastated resolution
Heat haze is waving far away
Who’s going to be sacrificed?
ON FIRE
Just like a falling flower
ON FIRE
Until this body rots away
Burning down to the Gates of Hell

Not Haruna, she is smiling and singing along in some parts at even at the end of the song looks like she has just played lesson one, in the Play Drums Today, book.
Glad you appreciated the Lovebites lady's could not be high on stage presence and movement for this song. I believe there are not many other bands today who could play this song live at this proficiency.
This concert always tinges me with sadness. It is the last concert that Miho plays her bass for Lovebites. It is my understanding that none of the other Lovebites Lady's knew that she would make this her last appearance.
This song is fire. I guess it should be, given the title, but holy hell is this song fire.
😃
Yeah, I expected this one to breaks 9's. One of my favorites from them. Love the Slayer vibe.
Fami doesn't headbang like Miho did but she makes up for it in the many techniques she brings to the table as heard in newer songs like Judgement Day and Stand And Deliver (Shoot "Em Down)
She will. She certainly did in the auditions!
Miho Miho Miho! huh i guessed 9.1after the first 30 seconds how wrong was I lol
The Drum.... 💀
I'm gonna go back , it's my show. Nope dear sir, it's Lovebites show and you won't go back enough 😋😋
Ink Spots version was actually used as the intro for Megadeth song "Set The World Afire" from the "So Far, So Good, So What" album but I'm sure you already knew that? 😁
Of course, that's kinda why I added it in there.
Miyako and Midori are said to go to each others houses and practise for hours together
Guitar soloS.
In Lovebites, gutar solo is ALWAYS a plural.
the ink box was funny ngL lol

@@MissLoonasSpeech Yes what she said.
wait till you see Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'Em Down) not only are both solos awesome but the beginning with Fami on Bass is also very impressive. also all the girls singing is amazing in this gem. Stand And Deliver (Shoot 'Em Down) ruclips.net/video/4ImGA7cPyrs/видео.html
Putting in a Fallout reference earns an auto like from me.
Hopefully we'll get Fallout 5 before I'm too old to play video games.
Please, try Heilung!!!
Same title as song by a group called E type. Both are completely different
Only thing that i don't like about Lovebites is the price of the tickets, $580 Dollar for a ticket in Sapporo is a bit much! They should play in bigger arena's and lower the price to $100 to $150 Dollars.
Gee, are you sure you didn't get scammed? I took two tickets for the Osaka show and ended up paying 150$ in total...
I dont think its Lovebites who decide on the tickets price, its rather the management and producer.
@@georges9326 It's Victor entertainment who does this, they go to small venues with only 400 seats, so they can't break even, so they up the price for the fans, very bad !
@@xaviergillard9649 The prices are flexible, if you are early you pay less, but the whole Ticketmaster monopoly is a scam in itself!
Thery where mostly around from 50 to 70$...
You know Megadeth also did Set the world on fire with the opening from the O.G. song.
Of course, The Ink Spots.
