- This is a video of basic maintenance on my 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster Country Club Coupe. On this video I replace the transmission fluid on a manual 3 speed transmission as well as engine oil.
I noticed the bottom transmission to bell housing bolts go from bell housing into the trans. I knew truck trans were like that but didn’t know early Chevy cars were the same. I learned something new and it’s always a good day when I learn new things, Thank You!
Best 1940's Chevrolet video I have seen, very concise I highly recommend for any Stove bolt lover! Can't wait for next video, thanks.
Thanks Car Nut Next video to come soon...
our older vehicles love zinc additives with them oils, new stuff today is stripped of them. Excellent first video nice to see
Thanks Ken, i agree that ZDDP additive are helpful and I will add in next oil change
thank you i have had mine for about 9 mos and your video was very helpful again thank you
Excellent Video!

I have a 1948 pont . I think mines use type A transmission fluid

I used Lucas 80W90 heavy duty gear oil
I have a 1948 chevy stylemaster just did a transmission rebuild trying to see if I have to put oil in the bellhousing area or does the transmission oil reach back there if I do have to put oil in bellhousing area how much
Disconnect the speedo cable and remove the outer speedo gear then pump about 6-8 oz in through the hole.
Great video! What type of fluid are you using. I notice the nice bottle with the pump on it. What brand is this and did it come with the pump on it?
Thank you fro the kind words. I use Lucas heavy duty SAE 80W90 gear oil that I transferred in a smaller container where my hand pump fit the top. I bought that pump on Amazon but it is a piece of crap that i would not recommend. You can use any pump that would fit on a regular oil container quart if you have an empty one laying around...
Mr chevy guy I'm looking for a 48 chassis let me know
sorry can't help you, I sold my 48 a couple years ago. Best of luck in your search
I have 2 1948 chevy fleetmaster's and found the same problems. No videos for it. Keep it up because I love learning more about my cars. How long have you had yours?
Thanks for the support. You have 2 1948 Fleetmaster, that pretty cool. I only had the car for a couple months but prior to that I had a 1946 that unfortunately burned down...I am working on the brakes and replaced shoes, springs, WC and MC and some lines that were frozen but I cannot bleed the system...The pedals goes to the floor, so the car is going in the shop next week....Will try to document my brake saga in the near future...
Can you show how to do an oil change?
that was the point of this video...
For the transmission fluid is there a dipstick
Can you send picture? I don’t see one on my transmission.
