Ennio Morricone, who was in charge of the soundtracks for "THE GOOD, THE BAD and THE UGRY", said that the composition method at the time of making this movie was avant-garde music that incorporated daily tools and real voices that were not orchestral instruments. I was making emotional music.

Fun fact: That first little melody (first done with the flute) is mimicking the howl of a coyote in the desert.
He was the best but mancini ran him close,with a man a horse & a gun,another classic theme.

I'm sure someone mentioned this somewhere, but these are two songs: the first half is the title credits to THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY (1966), and the second slower half with the piano is called "Ecstasy of Gold" which is toward the end of the film. It's a classic western starring Clint Eastwood (Good), Lee Van Cleef (Bad), and Eli Wallach (Ugly). It's from Italian director Sergio Leone (why it's called Spaghetti Western). This is the third film in the "Dollars Trilogy" or "The Man With No Name Trilogy" (Eastwood is never named in any of them, but is given nicknames like "blondie". The first two in the trilogy are A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS and FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE. Director Sergio Leone is a major influence on Quentin Tarantino, Tarantino even used Ennio Morricone music for some films (Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, and the full score for Hateful Eight which won Morricone an Oscar).
The reason there is a hanging man is because of how we first meet Eastwood and Wallach. Wallach (called Tuco) is wanted, and Eastwood (Blondie) is a bounty hunter. Blondie brings Tuco to a sheriff to collect the reward. Before Tuco is hanged, Blondie helps him escape (I won't say how). He then brings Tuco to another sheriff for the increased reward, again saving him before he is hanged. They are splitting the ever-increasing reward. Tuco wants a larger share because it's his neck. Blondie says he might have a harder time freeing Tuco if his share is less.
The slower, beautiful "Ecstasy of Gold" is toward the end during a climactic scene. This western epic is three hours long.
You mentioned Tarantino. The Orchestra have done a melody from Kill Bill.

Agreed! I’ve watched a bunch as well without the commentary of the effort and how it feels to be in it! I loved playing in a band, it’s funny for me as I place myself in the band rather than the audience as I hear concerts like these.

Is it an oboe? The reed looks more like a Cor Anglais (ie curved) but I can't see if it has a bell to tell completely though.
@@KurtFrederiksen it's the curve that made me wonder. It has a really nice tone, although the lights didn't do the poor player any favours. Do you remember the programme V? Phil Cool did an impression of one of the creatures by changing his facial expressions and unfortunately all I can see is that!
@@KurtFrederiksen that was an interesting video and I never realised why it had the curved bocal and reed on the cor anglais until I just watched it - its quite a bit longer than I realised! I've also seen it called an alto oboe before. I used to play the clarinet so I'm not as familiar with the oboe family as I could be but being in an orchestra and/or choir is fun. Do you play at all?
4:19 - The Ecstasy Of Gold ... for me, still one of the most beautifully written, arranged and composed songs ever. Ennio Morricone was and will forever be *the* maestro. I keep coming back to this piece of art in moments of joy, pain, love and despair. And it always helps me to push forward.

Band? Sorry to be pedantic, but that's not a "band." That's a professional symphony orchestra.

The late great conductor/composer Ennio Morricone wrote this masterpiece and many other Italian western films scores. In every film he composed the music for. He always used Italian songstress Meso Soprano extraordinaire "Ms. Edda Dell'Orso." The 3 films of Clint Eastwood "The Good the Bad and The Ugly," "For a Few Dollars More," and a "Fistful of Dollars." And the greatest western ever made "Once Upon a Time in the West."
All of the film soundtracks were composed by the great maestro "Ennio Morricone" and sung by the great Meso Soprano "Ms. Edda Dell' Orso." Brilliant response and comments.

Sadly, I wasn’t there for this particular concert, but I live about 10 kilometers from that concert hall and pre covid I used to go there at least 5-6 times a year. Being there in person for a classical concert with a World class symphony orchestra like this one is something everyone should try, if they get the chance. I do love a loud and crazy concert with the crowd going wild as well, but classical music performed live is just a spectacular experience.

the hanging man is a reference to a character in film whose suppossed to hung but Clint Eastwood,s character shoots and snaps the rope
This is the sound track to the move, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, an all time classic western with Clint Eastwood from 1967. If you wztchthe movie you will understand what the guy hanging means. So, watch it, it's a great movie!

That's an English Horn, guys, not an oboe (it's a cousin to the oboe, but not an oboe).
@@thomasbohannan2699 Thank you for saying that too, I did as well just now. It IS an English Horn. I told her how to tell the difference. An English Horn's mouthpiece (the long looking tube in his mouth, for those who don't know what I am talking about.) has a sight bend in it and is longer. The Oboe's mouthpiece is straight and shorter than the English Horn's.
Countless individual hours had to go into a production like this. Absolutely spellbinding.

This is the title song and one additional song from the soundtrack to the movie of the same name. It was the 3rd film of the "dollars trilogy" that catapulted Clint Eastwood to international fame.

If you played it you are a lucky person , cause this is a solo - virtuosic wind ... and my favourite by far in woodwinds ! Especially in low register , is mellow , and haunting ! And blurry and sharp in up register!

Lisa not an oboe, he is playing an English horn, which has a similar sound. The mouthpiece is curved and longer, where an Oboe's is straight and shorten than the English horn.

I am NOT a musically inclined critic, nor am I trained in the art. However, I did observe and am overwhelmed by the professional talent displayed by the Danish Symphony Orchestra. First, I want to commend Sarah Hicks, as a world class conductor she has the talent to bring to life the music of an elite ensemble of trained musicians. Tuva Semmingsen is a trained vocalist capable of doing a lot more than “waa waa” or whistling to the scale. She can deliver a sonata in English, French, Italian And possibly more than I have observed. Lastly, Christine Nonbo Andersen, Is a true professional without compare. I want to bring attention that she performs her aria without using sheet music. Which means she memorized a complicated aria and delivered it perfectly following the timing of the conductor. The tempo and scale is a masterpiece of unity and dedication.

I played trumpet in both my high school and county bands. This music is phenomenal but you need to listen to Ennio Morricone's composition for, "Once Upon a Time in the West." In this Sergio Leone film Ennio composed music for each of the four main characters, including Henry Fonda and Claudia Cardinale. it's a far west western movie, everybody gets shot or hanged except the hero and his beloved. Well also the moderately good town people. people get hanged for shooting people and people shoot people that unjustly hanged people.
