@@MillysThoughts The movie is a Western which depicted one of the facets of life back then. In the film there are a couple of hanging scenes. And if you look closer you will see the silhouette of the main character played by Clint Eastwood in the back of the orchestra pit.
I mean it's just Tuco, he's just hanging around...

@@Simon-hb9rf Oh!, I have seen the quality of British orchestras, and attended a concert a few years ago in London at the World Convention of Science Fiction, 2014, and it was a blast. Great musicians playing Scifi music and mixed it with classical music.
How is everyone so talented, playing their parts so well? This is perfectly normal and standard for professional orchestras and choirs. No room for errors and mediocrity! 🙂
Thanks for your great reaction! The theme to "The Good, Bad, and the Ugly" (along with 'Ecstasy of Gold') is the best of the Spaghetti Western themes and one of the best in all of cinema. It is the quintessential Old West theme, capturing all the elements of the wild American frontier of the late 19th Century. The most notable whistle of the signature flutes recall the sound of howling wolves in the countryside. The deep bell is the sound of the church bells in frontier towns. Eventually the horns sound like charging cavalry during the Civil War. The drum rhythm times with the galloping of horses. Then, rising above, the epic vocals in Ecstasy of Gold represent the call of so-called 'lowlifes and nobodies' to greatness and glory in desperate times...

Only a brain of a genius can conceive such a number of instruments, voices, noises, chores and so on.
This was song from the movie called the Good the Bad and Ugly. Clint Eastwood was the actor. One of my favourite movies of all times

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was a western film released in 1966 and this is the theme music, scored by the amazing Ennio Morricone. The Danish Symphony Orchestra does a fantastic job presenting this musical masterpiece! I won't give any spoilers, but will say the hanged man is from an important moment in the film. If you don't mind, Milly, I do have a few song suggestions for you, as you requested! This same orchestra provides the backing instrumentation for the song "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harumph from 2006 live performance. The Moody Blues singing "Nights In White Satin" live. Heart doing "The Battle of Evermore" from 1995. "If" by Bread. "The Air That I Breathe" by The Hollies. "That's The Way I Always Heard It Should Be" by Carly Simon (look for a live performance). They're amazing....everything they do is amazing, Tuva Semmingsen (wah wah) is a mezzo-soprano and she is awesome, go check out the other videos by her and them, the composer is the late Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) and he's a legend as he should be, he did all the scores for those kinds of movies known as Spaghetti Westerns which catapulted Clint Eastwood to global superstar status, what you're listening to now is from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly but there's also A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More and capped off by Once Upon a Time in the West, all directed by legendary Italian director Sergio Leone (1929-1989) his last film was 1984's Once Upon a Time in America which starred Robert De Niro and James Woods, the composer and director here have had a massive influence on many current composers and directors, the works by them are stunning. As a side note, look at the aforementioned Tuva Semmingsen and she's wearing a gun shaped earing

its a sound bite they add to the microphone so when she is singing into it the sftware its connected to simoultaneously produces the harmonica sound parallel to the intonations of the notes she takes (kinda like in Tupac's "California") ...then she switches is off during the whistling part of her performance ..take care

Had you Googled the title for a few seconds, you'd know that it's music from a western of the same name in 1967. There are a number of times in the movie when people have nooses around their necks, but only one case where someone actually hangs. Anyway, that is why they have an effigy of Clint Eastwood hanging from the ceiling.
That's not an effigy of Clint Eastwood. It's an effigy of the partner he had after Tuco. He was interrupted by Tuco just before he could shoot the rope.

A lifetime of practice. Practice every day, every week, every month, every year. Talent too of course, but just a talent without a long term practice is often wasted later on. Applicable to instruments and voices.
Most of them have been playing musical instruments (some more than just one) since they have been children, and with a constant long term discipline have become who they are now. People usually don't know kow much effort, discipline, and hard work that may require (hard work that is spanning not just a few years but 15-20+ years time).
Kind of applicable to a lot of professions in a way.

@@MillysThoughts - Thanks! And Ennio Morricone who wrote that music score for those movies ("The Good, The Bad And The Ugly and so on), was simply a genius. There is no other way to describe it. To important points here are:
1. He wrote his first music compositions when he was six years old (yeah, that is not a mistake!) and he was encouraged to develop his natural talents
2. He entered the Saint Cecilia Conservatory at age 12, to take trumpet lessons, enrolling in a four-year harmony program that he completed within six months...
It all started from that. The guy was a genius from an early age, even when he was a child.
It is very faint but if you listen closely you can hear a harmonica playing along with the Waa Waa lady in tandem.
There's a lot of significance with the hanging man in the movie, The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly. Lots of people getting hanged, so it's kind of a key feature! Almost need to see for yourself.
I noticed Tuva Semmingsen (the "wah-wah Lady") is wearing pistol earrings!

Hanging is a sub plot that comes up at various points in throughout the movie, the significance of which I won't explain for risk of spoiling it, except to say, its not as bad as it looks!
Please see the movie, though it runs for about 3 hours!
The theme music is near-identical to how it sounds here! It is just _amazing_ seeing this iconic theme so beautifully put together.
Go watch the movie, at least five times. Then you will be qualified to comment on the music.
About 200 years ago Gilbert and Sullivan wrote wonderful operettas with fantastic music that are still loved and performed to this day. The music was just part of the magic, but it is still loved today. Same thing here. The music you have just heard is just part of the magic of this movie., but you need to understand where it came from. If you listen to "The Ecstasy of Gold" without seeing Tuco running through a graveyard, then you don't get it.
Milly, Milly, Milly, my recollection of this number was somewhat hazy, I remembered that it was a musical score to a movie but that was about all, I did remember a little more of the music as well, parts of the score still echo in my brain even now, and I must admit to still loving the music. I can fully understand your being a little lost as to the meaning of the number, with no words explaining anything and no movie showing what it was about it really was nigh on impossible to understand it, so don’t feel bad you’re not alone! But you did a fantastic job anyway! You did a pretty good job of noticing those chalk spots two of which reminded me of someone peeping over their nose at me. Keep up the good work……

Hi Milly, the female vocalist at 1:13 thru 1:28 sounds like her voice is being run through an amplifier with a reverberators (like a guitar) my guess is that is not the case. Given that this is a professional orchestra and a professional choir, I don't believe they would use voice modification synthesizers. A simpler explanation for the unusual sound coming form the vocalist's "wah-wah" is that there is someone in the orchestra playing a Harmonica to accompany her. You can actually see the Harmonica player for less than a second at frame 4:27 - 4:29 (on your video) and you can hear the female vocalist at the same time the Harmonica is in frame.

You should watch the movie "The good, The bad and The uglu one" .. Then you will understand the whole context, the story, and the music behind it all. I know you would love the movie and the human roles it presents ..!
Just a humble advice: Listen to the entire song first - don't pause it while you listen. After you've heard the entire song, you'll get a better perspective of it. So sad that most "first time listeners" keep pausing the songs instead of listening till the end. Your listeners are interested of your overall view, not your comments as you go along.

I watched the music touch your soul, and you heart reacted as it should. It is a combination of the Genius composer behind these 2 pieces of music, His name was Ennio Morricone, he passed away at the age of 91 in 2020, the other is the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, they are professional musicians who have trained for 20-30 years to be where they are now. It's so strange to see a person listening to this music but have absolutely no clue about the context from which the music originates. They have no clue what they are missing.
It’s strange to see that in this age and time that people don’t have diversified minds. Music mean different things to different people... to some it’s the lyrics, for others it’s the graphic meanings and for others it could be the melody.

@@MillysThoughts There are two themes from the movie this music comes from. The first opens the movie, which is about several people searching for Confederate gold buried in a cemetery during the American Civil War. The second theme (Ecstasy of Gold) starts when one of the characters (Tuco) finds the cemetery and begins a greedy, frantic search for the grave of 'Arch Stanton', where he believes the gold is buried.
