    Nice to see you back making videos Jeanie. Have been following the volcano since the beginning and had wondered when the Iceland with a View version was coming! Regardless of how long the volcano will erupt I think this will become one of Icelands long term attractions. The view of the lava field from the top of route C is still pretty amazing.

    Thanks for doing this video. I'm heading to Iceland myself in a month, but only for 5 days, and a trip to the volcano is on the list of things to do, so this video has been great to watch to give me an idea of what to expect.

    Thank you so much for this video! Flying to Iceland next weekend and hesitant about the volcano hike; your video certainly helped me see things clearer and not rush myself into a (rather expensive) guided tour without any insight on the subject. Mega useful tips, especially the websites you mention in the video. Greetings from Switzerland!

    The volcano was at the top of my list for our trip. My hub is Icelandic and his sisters had warned us that conditions can change quickly. We went open-minded on Friday. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed our day, even though we did not see molten lava moving. BTW, love your videos!

    Love seeing all the familiar scenery. We went twice when we were there end of July-beginning of August and missed the lava erupting. It changes so quickly we literally just missed it by a few hours. Beautiful nonetheless!!

    We hiked path C September 17 - got to see red hot magma flowing! Went back two days later, hiked path A and lava had cooled. Path A is a much longer and a difficult hike straight up. Thank you for the SouthWest guide! Your insight made the trip. Loved the SouthWest map, too! You took the hard work out of planning the trip!

    We did the hike on the 11th and 12th of September and took route A and B. These were some of the last days you could route A since shortly after it was partially to close to liquid lava.
    I found both routes pretty taxing, however I was 10 weeks pregnant and not the fittest person to begin with.
    BUT even though I was dripping sweat when we arrived it was absolutely worth it. We were super close to the errupring cratar. Seeing an active vulcano at day and night is one of the most beautyful things you could ever see. However I would not recomend the hike at night while pregnant.

    My wife and I did the same parking lot and trail in July and volcano was very active. This was my 7th visit to Iceland. I met you at the brewery. I gave out some calendars at the event. We went to the brewery but it has changed and the no longer make there own beer. I will look for an old email from you and send you some of my pics. Planning for my 8th visit next year. end of July and Aug and leave some time in Sept. after seeing the northern lights. Perhaps we could get together for lunch or something and give you some of my new calendars. Have a great day and thank you for the video. Ben

    I missed the eruption by 4 weeks last year. So I told myself that if it erupted again I would go. So I booked a spontaneous trip for 8/19-23. I'm so excited! I hiked it last year too. Coming from Florida 😁

    • @user-gr3sz1qt4e
      @user-gr3sz1qt4e Год назад +1

      @@emiliatrae176 sure!! I think most hikers are taking path A. From what I have read the hike takes about 2 hours each way. It's harder than the one from last year apparently.

    • @emiliatrae176
      @emiliatrae176 Год назад

      Yes, that's what I read too! It's just that we arrive on September 1st at 4pm, so with picking up the car, getting groceries and driving there, I guess we can only expect to start the hike at 5pm. A bit worried that might be too late for 4-5 hours hiking and watching the volcano. But I read that a lot tours just start at 6pm... That's why I'm asking everyone about the hike, might have to take path C, I read it's a bit shorter and not that close to the eruption scene but u can still see it 🤔

    For those who are going to visit: Go in the late afternoon and stay until it´s dark. You will love it. Bring as much clothes as possible because you will stay much (!!!) longer than you´ve planned. And bring a flashlight or headlight (but don´t hesitate if you forgot one, there are so many people with light, you won´t loose your way).
