I love the look of the Easterling. The armor is badass but seeing the eyeliner create those evil eyes cemented them as one of my favorite races in Middle-Earth
I would love to see a movie or series on the northern theatre of the War of the Ring
I specifically want to see King Dain's last stand while protecting the body of King Brand against an army of Easterlings. Also the charge out of the gates of Erebor.
the only thing you have right now is the video-game lord of the rings war in the north
Hopefully the Amazon LoTR prequel series will be good and that will lead to many more LoTR spinoff shows. I would like to see a Children of Húrin show, myself!
Yeah, I'm a Lotr nut who read the whole thing in 3rd Grade and I never heard about that until today.
You should play Battle for Middle Earth 2. It focuses solely on the northern theatre with good & evil campaigns.
Lord of Easterlings: The Rings
You too, huh?
There are multiple tribes of Easterlings exist beyond Rhun and not all of them fought with Sauron in the wars of the west, either because the Dark Lord never visited them, or the Blue Wizards succeeded in persuading them not to follow him. Rhun may also not be the only kingdom the Easterlings have, as there are lands that are entirely unexplored in the books, movies and games that I will take on as a challenge as I write my own story.
Anyone who says Ice and Fire is more complex than LOTR need to watch this.
Both are a lot complex
@@efeguller6022 this is the original
Ice and fire has the potential to be as good if even better. Because only about 30% or so of the history and world is written. But probably wont be finished.
Both. Both is good.
I love this series! I've always known about LotR lore but watching your series makes me yern for more. I love it!
Thanks for creating and maintaining such an awesome channel
This might inspire to write a story about the Easterlings.
1945!? Lol! I can just imagine gondor, Arnor, the dwarves, and elves launching an allout d-day invasion of the east
Hey there's nothing wrong if you're gay I wouldn't think any less of you
D-day was in '44 though...
A Sea too far
@@marcdupont9418 what
More like dropping a a-bomb.
his narration is awesome, he could narrate the Teletubies and it would still sound epic
2:50 like how you note that there are indeed *more than one* kingdom, culture, language and realm of *"easterlings."* Kinda wished tolkien would've fleshed out at least *(roughly the foundations of) 5 manish, 3 dwarvish and maybe 2 elvish tongues* for the eastern lands (around 2nd age perhaps??). *Just a glimpse of the lands to the East (of Gondor)* atleast, sadly such a thing will never come to pass...
Winter Phoenix
That's a nice idea! Really wish there was more about them, *not just from wars but even in times of peace* and the flowering of rich cultures (and weird foods!).
XD
My theory about east is that Easterlings of Rhun and Dwarves of the Red Mountains and Far East were allied. It is said that Red Mountains were extremely rich mountains. From where did all of that Easterling gold on armor camw from?Simple,Red Mountains,Rhun is mostly a vast, land full of plains and its unlikely they would have any acces to gold without having influence over Red Mountains. Also,Tolkien wrote there were small Easterlings with big beards also fighting in battle of the Pellenor Fields. It is really possible these are not Easterlings, but Eastern Dwarves who fight as mercenaries and allies in Easterling equipment and in their ranks. This theory seem preety logic and reasonable to me,and I think this actually happened,Tolkien just wants to make us think more, and not to just write everything.Always loved reading about Easterlings and Haradrims because they are such Mysterious factions of Men.
I really wish tolkien could've written a story where an Easterling civilization wasn't against the west. I wanna see more of the Easterlings but it's mostly the places who are on the "good" side who were fleshed out

Is there any way you can do Warhammer 40k lore? That'd be truly awesome
I would like to say that one of the peculiar joys of your channel is that you tell the same story from different angles.
Hearing the stories over and over helps to cement the key points in the mind while hearing it told from different perspectives keeps it fresh and interesting.
It wasn't something I expected but it's something I find deeply valuable.
Yes, when it comes out. :)
CivilizationEx aaN!
Excellent video!
Could you please do a video about the Palantíri?
Great job compressing all of this. Question: what book tells the story of middle earth after the Return of the King?????
None; Tolkien started writing a sequel set during the reign of Aragorn's son, but abandoned it after only thirteen pages because he felt it would have devolved into a mere political thriller; essentially, it would have basically become a proto-"Game of Thrones" story about humans being dicks, and that wasn't the kind of stuff Tolkien was interested in writing.
Yeah I believe it was titled A New Shadow or something like that
jabojr evryone lived happy forever
Summary of the the Fourth Age in Middle-earth: the age of Men began in middle-earth, all elves sailed away to Aman, everyone most probably didn't live happily ever after. This has been explained in " The Peoples of Middle-earth". More specifically in the tale of "The New Shadow". As far as I remember.
I love this faction
Would you consider tackling some of the malazan series? You would be AMAZING at it.
I'm planning on writing my own story about the Blue Wizards and their journey through the east.
Will you be doing an Elder Scrolls history series?
Yes, probably in January will be the first video.
Could you do a video on asoiaf leviathans?
Hey nice Video again :D
Could you make a video about the shapeshifting of Middleearth/Arda? I'm always confused with the images of the country haha
I made a video awhile ago about the lands of the world, it may help you ruclips.net/video/rTQI4QxG4Pc/видео.html
Could you make a charecter video about Elu Thingol the king of Doriath in the future?
is all this on the silmarillion?
Yay. Finally

FOR RHUN and HARAD!! p.s. were sorry dont scratch our armor plz we just polished it
You first said that Valar fought Morgoth, and won, then took him as their prisoner, but at 2:14 you said that he took hold of the humans, how did he get away?
I might just have understood this wrong though ^
Originally Morgoth was corrupting Elves, so the Valar fought him and captured him. But after a long time as a prisoner they let him go because he pretended to be reformed. But then he betrayed them and fled to Middle Earth where he started corrupting men as well.
Watch his lore at the series
Why did you not include the Elves of Mirkwood? They were instrumental in preserving their own territory from orcs and all invaders.
YESSS!!!
10:56 is it canon that thorin stonehelm did this? was it in a prophecy? or just an assumption? even so, it seems to be an assumption worth canon
This information is stated in one of the Lord of the Rings appendices.
From where you now how the easterlings called?
When you travel to the undying lands and the mon'keigh can't get to you anymore.
What was that Xeno?
But what happens in the 4th age?
We are the 4th age
soumyadeep chowdhury actually that age had ended at the end of world War 2
We 5th age then? Sign me up for the next war and I'll be the guy that dies by a stray arrow before anything even begins. Or should I say stray bullet now? Shrapnel maybe?
In the 4th age. Gordor takes over mordor, frees the slaves there. And they take over the easterlings land.
butthurt gordor
For your next video do this: Why didn’t the ring have an affect on Bilbo like it did with Gollem
CRS 16 I can answer this. Its a matter of time. Golum had been in possession of the ring longer as well as Golums self imposed exile, further warping his mind and adding suggestions to his darker personality & corruption.
True, it was simply a the matter of time spent with the Ring.
because gollem was made of clay
If memory serves right, Bilbo only had the ring for 60 years while Gollum or rather Smeagol had it for almost 500 years. Bilbo was borderline crazy about the ring after just 60 years as seen in his reunion with Frodo in Rivendell so one can assume that if he had it for centuries longer, he'd have turned into another Gollum.
Focus:Agandaúr plz?
Παντελής Μορφόπουλος He is non Canon character
Rhun the king slayers.
Who would win Chad Easterlings or Virgin Dothraki
Why does every video include a recap of the war of the ring
Those are some tough s.o.bs
Are people still living in Hildorien and Red Mountains during LOTR time?
8:29 *(magician rebels??) WARGE-RINES!*
get it?...(hehe)
p.s. When I think of *"warge-rines,"* I'm imagining a *small but ferocious* (skunk-like), critter! Basically a hole-dwelling, long clawed, *mini-warge!*
*Elessar* means "Elf-stone". It is a Quenya name and is pronounced "eh-LES-sar".
Siete...
They are the only best looking evil force in the movie. Aside from Isengard and their defeat was disappointing, but not bad as the Easterlings during the siege of Gondor. Actually.... Both defeats were that bad... Lol
Isengard meant to counter Rohans army and cavalry. But lost. Easterlings.... Awesome and brought troops to Gondor's siege and even brought troops to the black gates.
Behold... the lord of easterlings:The Rings
Weasterwings
Essentially the Tolkien version of the Huns.
am I the only one who kinda laughed when I saw that King Thorin III and King Bard II defeated the Easterlings at Erebor? xD
My last name is Easterling. Uhh, how did I get here?
Lord of Easterlings : The rings
Gondor is like what eventually becomes Italy right?
No, Sierra Leone
Wonder what Sauron did to rally the eastern kingdoms to his cause...
Sauron: check this out!

Lord of Easterlings the rings lol
Rrrrr everywhere :/
Hey uhhmmm gondor vid?
"Reminder that it's a small minority of Orcs that are resonsible for the attacks on Gondor"
@The Ghost of Flekk Bone Gnawer - Except the Orcs are based on Muslims... The Siege of Minus Tirith and the Ride of the Rohan is an exact replica of the 1683 siege and battle of Vienna, where the Christian Polish defeated and drove back the Muslim Ottomans, beginning the liberation of Eastern Europe from Muslim rule.
@@dragondov Yeah I always got the impression he based the Easterlings on Turks/Ottomans(whose ranks covered ethnicities ranging from Asia Minor/Turkey all the way across central Asia to Afghanistan). With the Southrons being based on Berbers/Arabs from north Africa and Arabia? He even mentions the Southron Haradrim having deep in their ranks armies of great black men from Far Harad with bulging, white eyes and long purple tongues hahaha. J.R.R. Tolkien was definitely NOT PC lol. But I think the Orcs were not meant to represent any group of men lol.
Oh and not to take away from the Polish cavalry in any way, but I think the Austrians and Hungarians did fight in the battle of Vienna too buddy as it was their Empire that was besieged after all. I chuckled at your post, but I refuse to join in and suggest that Tolkien viewed Muslims as 'Morgoth Worshippers' or anything... wink
@The Ghost of Flekk Bone Gnawer Yes like I said i'm well aware that the Orcs are not supposed to be Muslims, or any race of men. They are fantasy creatures bent on evil and destruction.
Tolkien did look down on none-whites though and thats made obvious in his books by all none-whites being portrayed as those who betrayed the forces of light and sided with the enemy. Plus them all being described as 'swarthy men' or worse.
You know he was a renowned anti-semite as well right? So his readers are not wrong in a lot of their interpretations, they are just telling it how it is. So if you find all this offensive, you shouldn't really be a Tolkien fan. I am because i don't care. But if i wasn't white and christian-descended European then i probably wouldn't be a Tolkien fan. His work would say nothing could at all about my heritage so why would i be?
@The Ghost of Flekk Bone Gnawer Thank you for that. I agree with you about the Orcs completely and i would think the overwhelming majority of Tolkien fans are well aware that the Orcs do not represent Muslims or any race of men. I actually chuckle at it because its so ridiculous. I actually stay out of all this contentious stuff myself, its too bloody stressful. But as i said, i would have more of an issue with the material itself than a small bunch of silly, wind up merchant fans. Take care.
They were just following orders
Sauron should have won
Deinnemann why?
Sauron essentially gave a race of hated monsters (Orcs), whom never got to choose their fates, a chance, while also helping the Easterners who were always harassed and enslaved by the Numenorians. While Morgoth wanted to destroy, Sauron wanted to dominate and reshape. #GoodGuySauron
Sauron and Morgoth before him likely should have won if the odds weren't stacked against them since the very beginning. The Dark Lords were nothing but the pawns of a greater power. Eru used them as a lesson and a means by which the forces of good could be tested and hardened through calamity and tragedy, and made all the more greater for it.
“And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined.”
Sauron did nothing wrong!
Deinnemann your right i should have won
SAURON DID NOTHING WRONG
So this is where those Asian ringwraiths came from.
They don't exist in "reality"...they just exist in Shadow of War
First
I don't get how the easterlings were such assholes. Merely by corruption from Sauron. Not buying it.
No one said they were lmao. They just allied with Sauron cause they thought Gondor and Rohan would lose.
Came across this just watching lotr clips..... Jesus man, I'm nerdy but you must really hate the outdoors 😂
I don't think baleriand necessarily fell into the sea, more like it was pushed inland lol.
Can't help to think that Tolkien's discription and depiction of the easterlings is a tad... Racist?
Truly
They were watered down in the motion picture adoptions lol. “Swarthy” is an old English term meaning so called Black, I.e. they were POC, the same term used when so called Black people had rulership in Europe. Very interesting...maybe I should read JRR Tolkien’s books because apparently Peter Jackson had to change a lot due to the detailed and lengthy source material. Also, would look pretty crazy if those random evil humans that fought alongside Orcs who swore the time of man was over were Africans bruh 😂.
@Samuel gonzalez
Listen man I know you were into the movies. And thats fine.
But dont listen to these BS blowers here jabbering about Asians and Muslims.
If you wanna read the book, read it without point of view, read it without thinking of your own world, its a small chance to escape from here even for a brief moment away from everything allegorical.
Just read and stay there as long as you read.
Believe me I was there before. But comparing this or any other fantasy will just give you ideas. Dark ideas.
Tolkien helped people as much as he could so they would avoid these, but now his gone and no one really gives a flying fuck.
So if you wanna do it, just do it with a mind set on a whole new world, and stop looking for any clues and any resemblances.
Peace
The only black people in Middle Earth are the far harad which Tolkien never really got into. Swarthy just means darker complexion which can range a lot. It mostly represents Mediterranean countries and close Eastern countries in Europe like Turkey.
@@arshamj7975 But Tolkien wrote it with our (or his) own world in mind. Tolkien wrote this from a Eurocentric point of view (which is perfectly fine), but you can't really blame people for having a problem with the Easterlings.
As a history, genealogy buff, and someone with the surname Easterling I cannot tell you how obnoxious it is using search engines that's results are 5% family information and 95% Lord of the rings junk.
For the love of Christ people I beg you to stop. Stop Firebombing Tolkien and his universe with selfish accusations.
If he was what you say he was he would have said so. he had no onr to fear back then not like now.
BUT HIS NOT
So please
stop.🙏🙌
Cool..much "scientific" than big bang theory.
