I've always told my children that hanging with the wrong person or making a bad decision can cost you either you're life or freedom this is a perfect example of what I've always told them.
Keep telling kids that always. Keep reminding them that true friends are *SCARCE,* whereas wrong people are only *USERS* and they don't care about their friends closest to them. When they commit serious crimes and get into trouble with the law, they can always pass the rap onto your children and let them take the blame. That is why they always have naive friends as losers ones who take the fall for them.
This is so far beyond hanging with the wrong crowd or making a wrong decision. She slaughtered people. And then played in their blood. There were numerous places she could have stopped and turned around. That's what kids need to be taught. How to notice when the train is coming off the rails and needs to be jumped from.
selmalover She went on and on about her life ...................and not once did she give one iota of thought to the people she killed or the families she destroyed. She seemed hell bent on making sure the listener knew she had completely changed but in my opinion she acts just as self serving as ever. Its sad when we refuse to take responsibility for our actions.
Tom Davie well, her life after Manson is the topic, and she's got only 9 min. She also said how she's confronted with her deeds everyday...I believe that she is truly sorry.
AnnaLee33 I believe she is truly repentant..but the crime was horrific and they all did receive the death penalty. The victims and their families will get no parole from the horror.

AM Miller exactly she is still emotionally disconnected to what she did. She talks as someone who has had a lot of therapy and kind of understands but doesn’t truly get the impact of her actions
Susan Atkins and Tex Watson (other members of the manson family) stabbed Sharon Tate. She killed Abigail Folger and assisted in the murder of Rosemary LaBianca. Brutal, brutal murders though.
The thick fug of hallucinogenic drug taking clouded the judgement of a lot of those "bright eyed, bushy tailed", impressionable kids, coupled with the little man Manson's rambling technique of gradually deconstructing then reconstructing their minds and body's into potential, then actual killing machines! Cracks me up to think some commentators on this subject speculate that the "little man" was a CIA asset! Of what purpose would he of served to this organisation??

When you divide the number of years she has served against the number of victims, it's roughly 6 1/2 years per life. Do you think 46 years is enough for seven deaths? Make that eight deaths. People forget, somehow, Sharon Tate was pregnant when this woman and her co-defendants broke into that house and butchered without hesitation seven people, including an unborn baby that was almost due. No, she needs to stay in prison for life.
@femaleonthecreek She was not there the 1st night of the Tate murders , She was only present for the Leno & Rosemary murders on night 2 . She killed 2 people not 7 . I do think she is remorseful unlike the others and I do believe almost 50 years is justice served . She should be paroled and only her !
**She only butchered a few...and is so sorry SHE'S IN PRISON FOR LIFE!** (you have the most infantilerationales ever to justify the release of a savage butcher ..."I'm Sorry" is enough for you?)There **IS NO 'JUSTICE' INVOLVED here, only locking-up a murderer who killed because 'she felt like it'and as long she lives represents the threat of more dead! **FINE! LET HER LIVE WITH YOU!** And then we'll see...won't we?
@@gerrynightingale9045 She is most likely so institutionalized at this point, that living in the free world would be so hard for her that she would be miserable and not be able to adjust to that life.
*"How she 'feels' is not the issue...it's a question of "What is she capable of doing?" and the answer is "She is capable of savage murder because she's done it before"* (she's found 'peace & contentment' with 'God?' What if she thinks*"God told me to cut-off that girl's head...and her brother...because she was 'mixed-race' and God doesn't like that!"* )
These murderers stole the life and dreams of people that were just living their lives. They do not deserve sympathy of any kind and never will and never should be released from prison. Glad to hear they turned their lives around while in prison, but that is no compensation for what they did.
@@mountzod did you know that every year, on August 9th, they have a kind of reunion. Yes, they assemble together, do drugs, chant, and talk about the good old days. Not kidding in the least!
During a 2004 parole hearing, when asked who she would place at the top of the list of people she has harmed, Patricia Krenwinkel responded, "Myself." She was denied parole following that hearing because, according to the panel, Krenwinkel still posed an "unacceptable risk to public safety".
No...they already decided they werent going to grant her parole. Why would she manufacture a mile long list of people to say SORRY to get released? The victims and most of their family members are dead the question was an obvious trickbag. They never intended to release her. Her answer WAS taking responsibility. Her stating that SHE was the person she did the most damage to is all too true. She not only destroyed Sharon tates chance to live to her potential but the moment patricia did this her own future was gone. Reality check here people...whats your REAL issue here? You need to really get honest here because your issues seem to be more with the person you see in front of you than the person she was 50 years ago. Thats what IM hearing in your comments. You even admit you really do think she turned her life around. I think its an issue of PRIDE. You already saw that in 1969 she was a heartless bloodthirsty robot. So....you could tell yourself..IM NOT LIKE THAT. I COULD NEVER DO THAT. IM NO MONSTER..and give it no thought. However the patricia you see in front of you here is an actual HUMAN BEING. When she talks about everything in her life after meeting Charles manson leading to that night in 8/9/1969 shes no longer somebody making you feel you can puff your chest out like a pouter pigeon IM BETTER THAN YOU. In other words its going to make you ANGRY. The TRUTH has a way of doing that.
Just be grateful Pat, u got the roof over ur head and food on the table after all u've done. While many good homeless ppl out there struggling everyday for what u have now
Manson and the killing family members have had a much better life than regular people. They have had food, clothing, a roof over their heads and medical care. Good, honest hardworking people have trouble getting that.
kind of wish we stopped focusing on interviewing killers and listening to their stories, and instead started focusing on the victims’ and their families’ stories.
arielle jods I think it’s mostly because we want to understand how some people are capable of the evil things they do, and with these interviews we can see what makes them tick, or in their minds why they do the things they do.
We can learn what not to do in life. I don't think I realized the effect childhood trauma had on human beings until time and time again I listened to stories of serial killers with abusive homes. You can't really learn much from a victims story though. And not many of them like to come forward and talk about it.
First time I ever heard from one of these women. It was short and not very focused on her life. It's what she paid and how it came about. She chose her words wisely I'm sure.
Not every Criminal, Manson never did nor Did Gacey. At least She is sane now. There's lots of factors that went into that. Drugs were a big part of it and he really knew how to manipulate
Mind you, when you have a criminal system that profits out of criminality, making it an excuse to provide corporations with slave labor, it's hard to take the high road on the treatment and rehabilitation of criminals.
The fact is that this case IS special. Pat Krenwinkel never decided to go out and commit murder. When those close to her decided to murder, she fell in with it rather than objecting or Just Saying No.
Hi Fred, I hope you're ok, I read "Bad Childhood Good Life" it was very helpful and I've read many self-help books. It's by Dr. Laura Slessenger. It's a short book. Good luck.👍
The number of years she's been in prison is still less than the number of stab wounds she inflicted upon the victims. To hell with her and her life after Manson. At least she was allowed to keep hers, which is more than you can say for the innocent people she brutally murdered.
CrashN2Me1000 yeah totally understand where you are coming from and please understand I am not sticking up for this woman. ..I get the severity of her dispicable actions but I think we as a society have somewhere blurred the line between punishment and revenge...And I say this with no disrespect to your comment. ..
+Karren Joy Long I certainly appreciate the civility with which you state your opinion here on RUclips, the home for trolls and hate mongers. While I see where you're coming from in your statement that we have somewhere blurred the lines between punishment and revenge, may I respectfully submit that this is not that "somewhere." Krenwinkle was convicted for seven murders. She has spent 46 years in prison. Doing the math, that is 6.57 years per victim. That simply is not enough time. In this case, it is clear to me that anything less than dying in prison for this individual and her cohorts would be a miscarriage of justice.
Hi Kathy, I'm sure you're doing just fine 👍, but I would like to suggest a book to anyone who is struggling, it's called Bad Childhood Good Lfe by doctor Laura Schlesinger it really helped me. It's a short book, I've read them all, but this one clicked for some reason.
I feel for the victims and their families. They continue to live with the tragic loss of their loved ones. I will remember those victims. I was a child when this tragedy happened. May they all Rest In Peace.
shane802 are you a family member/friend? I'm sorry for the lose. This is beyond my comprehension!.....& that's fine with me bcuz I would never want to understand people or things like this.
I was an 8 year Old boy when this happened 2 months short of being nine years old, and feeling such fear that people could do such a thing, and the next night Rosemary and her husband were also murdered by the same psychos, we didn’t know it was the mansion family at that time, I have always checked in over the years to see what was going on with these murders, I am now 58 years old and my heart still goes out to the victims Families every time I hear the words helter-skelter or a Beatles song I think of The victims families and how they’re dealing with it they also got a life sentence the victims familys should not have to go to Parole meetings to keep these murderers in prison, they took lives and that means they have given up there own lives, give these families peace of mind by keeping these murders in jail for the rest of their natural life, without parole this can help ease the victims families with peace of mind
They weren't like zombies killing. They were happily leaping about torturing their victims to death while hissing hate at them. It's hard to get passed that for me. Plus, other Manson woman fled him before they got too involved and these young women too had done drugs and were looking for someone to look up too but they didn't have that element of evil in them that those who chose to stay and do his murders.
That's right there are several girls who went there for the drugs and "hippie" lifestyle, but after a few days realized how kooky/violent they were, and fled in fear of their lives!
They all loved torching and killing their victums and I remember this. They were all smiling and singing even as they went to trial. They were all just as evil as their leader and all got the death penilty. When the death penilty was reinstated they should have put all of them back on death row and executed them.
@@msslsm4158 I think I have to agree with you it doesn't matter how long ago it happened they crossed over into death so that's what they should have in return it makes no sense to me I believe in Jesus Christ and the Forgiveness of sins! But crimes like this seems like brute Beast not human being
I’m glad she has examined her heart and soul and I believe she’s truly remorseful but the families that lost loved ones will never ever see them again. Their lives were shattered. She needs to stay where she is.
Amen! She claims remorse? Putting those women through years of parole hearings cause she wanted out. That's remorse? I hope they carry her out the way they carried out those people and that woman carrying that full to term baby from that house of horrors that she created! Remorse? Fraud!
***** So killing to defend one's nation is worse than killing innocent people in their homes to start a phony race war that a psychopath believes is inevitable. Thanks for illuminating me. I'm so glad I have non-Americans like you to explain morality to me.
The disastrous situation included brutal murders that terrified the entire community. There is a valid point here: 7 people suffered horribly in having their lives snuffed out but there was even more damage as all their loves ones also suffered and the society as a whole was harmed.
'Katie also complained that her hand hurt, explaining that when she stabbed, she kept hitting bones, and since the knife didn't have a regular handle, it bruised her hand' - from Bugliosi's book as Linda Kasabian is walking him through the attack. I'm willing to believe people can be remorseful for horrible things they did but reading that and knowing that it's the same person as the one in this video.. there's no reason for her to re-enter society
She had "choice" before committing murder. Her childhood tale couldn't be more common. Many people end up feeling relatively worthless around that age, but it doesn't immediately imply joining a cult and stabbing people to death. She really lights up for the camera. So L.A. of her.
+No Parking in the Red Zone ..Excellent..Her life fell right into the hands of Manson, just like the other girls..It was a tragedy for all invovled..So was Manson's life..She had no idea, no choice..it was just one cause after another....I feel for them.. and the victims..They to were led to their demise by choices and causes and nobody knows why..
No Parking in the Red Zone I read Tex's book..He was so dead inside by that point..Manson was his savior..and the drug use just completely formed him and his evil thoughts via Manson's teaching..but here's the thing: He wouldn't have killed anybody if it wasn't for Manson..I don't believe any of them would have..As far as choices, it started with drug use as a collective (the family) and just sunk them deeper into Charlie's abyss..We don't understand how anybody can be so brutal to any human beings but lets just say to do what Tex did, you have to be one very lost, consciousless, deprived person..I don't believe Tex was evil..Just devoid of any compassion whatsoever..He will never leave prison or should he..His was book was well written and fascinating..
And yet we have so many in America who are hell bent on making drugs legal. Yes, lets make it legal to alter the mind and that way when the brain dead druggies commit horrific crimes we can all chalk it up to they were *Mentally Insane* so to hold those persons *Accountable and Responsible* for the choices they make can all tossed aside. *SMH*.
@ Cheryl B. I agree. Your decision in life is important. You have only 1 life to live. You can ruin your life now and in eternity. Or you can live right in the sight of God now and rest in peace for eternity.
strawberryseason teenagers still know murder is wrong. Kids know murder is wrong. There’s a case to be made that because of their age they were more impressionable, however they still knew what they were doing was bad.
the typical flawed reason of a psycopath. If the Manson disciples were indeed unwanted by their parents why did Manson turn his disciples into murderous individuals who nobody wants?
She chose to kill a bunch of people who never did her any harm at all. Her choice, now live with the consequences. The only lesson to take from her is to choose your friends and associates wisely. Be careful who you befriend and fall in with. Had she been a bit smarter and more careful she would have avoided a con man like Manson and would probably be a grandmother today living in Florida.
Breezeman I disagree with you. Unless you were growing up in the 1960s you cannot possibly know what life was like back then And what she should have done etc. In fact, your response sounds very naive.
Your point is well taken... Trust nobody until you truly know them and that can take years! When a person is 19 and hopelessly down and out, unwanted, they can be very gullible as Pat was. Of course there are consequences, and Pat will never be released. SAD
I resent when the Manson cult is characterized by calling it a family. It was not a family. It was a collection of rebellious, twisted monsters who came together around a mega-monster.
@@floydfletcher4313, good people are dead because of Monster Manson and his trash. You're pathetic. Besides, you're not tough enough to make me shut up.
My advice to Krenwinkle: Resign yourself to your punishment for what you did all those years ago. You took a knife, raised it (your own admission), chased Abigail Folger onto the lawn of the Tate house and proceeded to slash and stab her as many times as you were able. Sticking a knife into a human body is as up-close-and-personal as it is as possible to be and you didn't care. You blame your actions on the lack of love and affection in your early life. There are millions of people in this world who don't have parents for whatever reason and never know what that kind of love is like, yet they don't go on to slaughter innocent people in what should have been the security of their home. What you did was hateful, spiteful, vicious and unforgivable. Don't ask for forgiveness where there is none. Nothing you could ever do or say in this life can compensate for the incomprehensible action you took that night. I am vehemently opposed to the death penalty and your experience and that of your fellow killers is a prime example of how to punish by permanently removing your right to freedom and you should expect nothing more from Society. Nothing you say now can undo the actions you chose to chose to take, not just on the one night but on the following day too. You are no longer part of Society and that is how it should be for the remainder of your life. I wish you no harm but wish you nothing at all.

In a sense she is a victim.....at 19 one can be very vulnerable especially if one has a inferiority complex or come from a dysfunctional childhood of some sort.....BUT its not a reason to murder.......
Don't let the 45 years fool you, these were some of the most horrific crimes ever committed, easy to say now from your couch "let her go" but in all reality, they should never be released, all should die in prison.
These crimes don't even compare to proper horrific crimes. Josef Stalin’s forced starvation genocide against the Ukraine from 1932 to 1933. Death Toll between 1.8 to 12 Million. 1.1 million were murdered at Auschwitz During WWII. During the 1400s Gilles De Rais raped, tortured and killed hundreds of little children, mostly boys. In 1977 Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono Raped and killed 10 Girls aged 12 to 28. Jeffrey Dahmer murdered and dismembered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991. This list could continue forever, crimes like the Tate murders happen around the world everyday but no one cares unless the victims are rich famous and beautiful.
idig musictoo These assholes are serial killers...like it or not, that's what they are. America doesn't release known serial killers. Never has, never will. Name ONE proven serial killer that has ever been released from prison in America...????
Kenneth McDuff... He was convicted 3 counts of murder and rape. He was sent to death row and was one of 20 former death row inmates paroled in 1989. He was believed to have started killing again within a few days of his release from prison. He killed 8 more women. He was eventually caught and executed on November 17,1998.
Indeed, McDuff should have been executed the FIRST time, but his three murders before his release is still less than half of the seven murders Krenwinkel was convicted of. If anything, his being released (and then killing eight more people) serves as an example as to WHY we should NEVER release serial killers.
I'm one of them. But I don't think the childhood is being used as an "excuse." She is responding to an interview who wants to know about her background as well as what led her to participate in such horrible crimes.
Her childhood simple primed her to be vulnerable to attention from men like Charles Manson who was a master manipulator. Charles sought out broken abused lonly females who were estranged in one way or another from their family with no support system. women that he knew he could control. He knew exactly what to say and do to make her dependant on him and trust him. She made horrible choices while she was with him but I don't think that she would have done any of those things had Charles Manson not taken over her life. You have to remember the women in Manson's cult were pimped out by Manson for favors from other men. While they were murders they were victims themselves before they took their first life at his command.
These girls were bad to the bone and loved torchering their victums. These "plain janes" probley loved killing Sharon Tate also because she was so beautiful.
You make so much sense. There are just some things and the way they are did, sorry will not fix. I was around 12 yrs old when this happened, I remember the trial was something. They (the girls), laughed, sung, barked like dogs during the trial, would stand up and shout out that the judge or one of the prosecutors was a monkey or some other nonsense. They dug that hole deep.
@@kathythomas6600 The way they behaved at trial, with the victims suffering families right there, is inexcusable. Talk about adding insult to injury. But they sure aren’t laughing anymore though. But you better believe that they are crying more for themselves than anyone else.
Yes, assessing whether she is remorseful and whether she should get out are two different things. Some people think if you say "I think perp is remorseful" you're also saying you think they should live in Disneyland and get free cake and ice cream. It's possible for a person to be sorry and still have to do time. I'm not sure why so many people don't grasp that.
I believe Patricia Krenwinkle and Leslie van Houten are genuinely remorseful now. However, participation in such grotesque murders is totally unforgivable. Even if Patricia and Leslie, now in their seventies, were granted parole, how could they possibly begin life anew in civil society? Like Manson, prison is their only true home.
@@millsix Leslie and Pat would be fine on the outside, especially Leslie. She's planned this for a long time, she's got the needed security or support.
@Debbie Scott these people are your generation. You were obviously traumatized by this incident, and I believe that your trauma is clouding your judgement.
She lied about a lot of it, she was paid to keep me from talking. She put the girl to her left get information out of me and the gave it to another girl that Clinton before she was a Clinton put on the witness stand that lied about what happened.
I think Krenwinkel is a good example of how very few people are inherently evil. A person may do horrible, horrible evil things, but that level of humanity that allows them to step back and realize what they've done is what separates a criminal like Krenwinkel - who certainly does still deserve to stay in prison - from someone like Manson, who has clearly never felt remorse for any of his evil a day in his life. They are both horrible criminals, but one is someone I can see as human, and one I just can't see the humanity in at all.
She acts truly remorseful now, but it cannot take away from what she did to the innocent victims, including the unborn child of Sharon Tate. I can't imagine a more horrible way to die than what Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Voytek Frykowski, Abigail Folger, Steven Parent, and Leno and Rosemary Labianca suffered. She should never be granted parole. It's called KARMA, folks. What a waste.
She has had 50 years to think about what she did. I’m sure she has regrets about it but it doesn’t change what happened. I think of the Morgan Freeman character in Shawshank. After about 40 years in prison he was resigned to his fate, I’ll bet she feels the same way.
I think it was Denise Atkins and Tex Watson who murdered Sharon Tate. Patricia butchered Abigail Folder and the very next day, Leno and Rosemary Labianca.
Let us not forget that not very long ago her true self showed at a parole hearing. She was asked who she had harmed the most with these events. Her answer was so telling. She answered with HERSELF! Unbelievable!! And this was decades after the murders. Her answer was not her victims, or their loved ones, or even her own family (and I am sure they have suffered greatly over the years too). Nah, just focused on herself. They have never stopped being focused on themselves and what they want.

David Berkowitz has remorse too. The difference is he recognizes how parole would affect his victims' families. He has thus asked not to be ever let out
Her anger, hatred, lack of empathy, lack of decency, destroyed her life. This is a tale of warning to all. You can have everything you desire, but have nothing of what you need.
Wow she looks old. At this point she may as well give up looking for release. Just live in prison. What would she do if she got out at this point. The world is so different from 69 now. It will look like she walked into the Jetsons or something. She is better off in prison at this point. She has to look at it this way, She was condemned to die and escaped that. She should just be glad she is allowed to live.
+Robert Lukacs That's a good point. If I was in her shoes, I think the only reason for me still wanting to be released would be because that would mean that the state acknowledged that I had truly repented for what I did, that I had truly changed. It would show me that the state thought that all those years in jail doing positive stuff to help others meant something.
When Manson got really older and he came up for parole, I was like wtf is he gonna do? First of all the world today is totally different he wouldn't know what to do and nobody would ever hire him, he probably would have gotten killed or back in prison.
its kind of like in the shawshank redemption with the old guy who was in prison most of his life and he finally gets out, hes so overwhelmed and unable to adapt he just hangs himself
She was given the opportunity to live..unlike every-single-one of the victims. Sorry, not sorry. This whole “feel sorry for me because I was unloved in my childhood” is just another excuse made for the actions taken.
Once the drugs wore off, all these crazies realized what they did and most regret it immensely, she's one of them. Honestly the woman who is free, Squeaky, is the only one who didn't see anything wrong with what they did.
Patricia Krenwinkel dragged coffee heiress Abigail Folger from her bedroom to the living room, fought with her, and stabbed her. When Folger tried to escape following the first round of stabbing, Patricia was said to have chased Folger as she ran outside screaming. According to Patricia, she pinned Folger to the ground and further stabbed her; the victim pleaded with her to stop by saying, "Stop, I'm already dead".[2] Katie continued to stab her so brutally that Folger's white nightgown appeared red to police investigators the following day. After stabbing Folger, Krenwinkel went back inside and summoned Watson, who also stabbed Folger. During her trial, Krenwinkel said, "...I stabbed her and I kept stabbing her."[3] When asked how it felt, Krenwinkel replied: "Nothing, I mean, what is there to describe? It was just there, and it was right.
Susan dragged her from her bedroom, not Krenwinkel and she did not stab her until she caught her in the garden. When Patricia said all things in court, she was still under the control of Manson, he scripted most of the words of the defendants at that trial!!
I was 6 years old living in Southern California when this happened. I've tried my entire life to understand HOW Manson got all of those people to believe his bs. I was afraid of her and her family when I was a kid. I think I still am because as much as I want to believe her, I don't. I'm positive she's sorry she got caught. I'm positive she's sorry for what she did to her REAL family. I'm not positive she really thinks about the victims and their families much at all. 7 people died over 2 days because of her and her family. That's more than enough
@@wimvanaerde6249 you're right and I'm sorry I didn't include him. He's a forgotten victim of this tragedy. I really did have the worst nightmares and my Mom even banished the news at dinner time because of it.
She is way more sincere than Susan Atkins who also gave an interview but all should remain in jail. RIP to the victims and deepest condolences to their families.
I think there is a lot more to it then we know . The first court case was sensationalized and didn't involve the worst of them all -which was Tex . Patricia was I believe the second most active participant ( after Tex ) in not 1 but 2 nights of mass murder . Tex later said it was him and not Susan who killed Sharon -I tend to believe him as this confession came many many years later . Susan Atkins was the original star witness but I believe she refused to go along with a lot of the concocted story , so they c hose Kasabian instead . I don't know but there is definitely more to the story that has been hidden.
She starts out with a complete lie when she stated this all started out between one man and one woman. By the time "Krenny" met Charlie in 1967, he already had a harem that included Mary Brunner, Squeeky Fromme and Ruth Ann Morehouse. In fact, Brunner became pregnant with Charlie's baby soon after Krenwinkel very willingly came into the group. All I am hearing from her is "me, me, me" and it is so typical of a sociopath who is going for the pity play.
Nene Jones She didn’t know there was a Harlem waiting for her when he first seduced her. I agree they’re all sociopaths, psychos but they’ve all grown old in prison & I believe what they say they got no reason to lie now. Justice was served💗
When she met Manson she thought it was her and him, like boy meets girl...not a harem of girls. And as far as people stating she is sociopath...she is not, nor psychopath. This is someone who made VERY poor choices out of neediness. Wanting to belong. Combination of that and constant lsd...dangerous. Never say never...And stay away from drugs!

Nah, I don't think that's what this was. She's known for a long time that she is never getting out. I think this is her way of telling others not to make the same mistakes she did.
Yeaaa, that's exactly what that is ; a passionate speech on what the board wants to here. Look can look in this women's eyes and tell she is not right in the head .
@@justice4all146 No, if you listened to any of the statements in Krenwinkel's actual parole hearings, you'd realize that her aim has not been to find the angle that gets her out or tell the parole board what they want to hear. It is to remind the victims' families that she remains remorseful and holds herself accountable. Again, she's known for a long time that she is never getting out. I mean come on, Leslie Van Houten hasn't gotten out, so why would Krenwinkel even have a prayer? This video can't be shown in a parole hearing, anyway.
@@cmsmhp They all keep going up for parole every chance they get. They put the families of the victims through the agony of parole hearings every time. They think about one thing- THEMSELVES
It's seeing the footage of the Manson girls smiling and laughing and shaving their heads during the trial as blah as possible about their horrible crimes is what gets me. I have a hard time seeing them as 'people'
I've followed this case since I was eighteen, 1969. Read prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's book, Helter Skelter, which is brilliant, and you will see who these people were. I knew then how Manson chose his female family members. This woman rings true to me. And everything she says shows her remorse, "I'm sorry" words or not. Sorry is cheap, and it's a common enough claim for those seeking parole. This is more than that. Manson and his followers will never be paroled, and Ithink she knows and accepts that. After 45 years, for the first time, she has my respect.
You know, I agree with you and I rarely feel that respect is deserved by a vicious killer. But, with Patricia Krenwinkel, there is at least insight and acceptance of her crimes; an unflinching view of what she did in 1969. And she's right -- something led her to Manson, something led her to commit horrible acts. That she is willing to spend her life pulling apart her psyche is more than a lot of other lifers do. I think she should spend the rest of her life in prison, though. But maybe her life could count for something after all. An example of taking responsibility and learning how choice is the most wonderful, yet most dangerous, tool we have.
Are you kidding me? Respect? If she's truly remorseful, understands the depth of her depravity and crime and knows she'll never be paroled, then why not just accept her fate and stop going before the parole board. that would save the victims family some grief right there. She hasn't accepted anything. There's no way to "reform" a psychopath. They lack the brain development to feel empathy and compassion. She's putting on an act as sociopaths always do.
Lau Ra She has spent half a century in prison, it’s safe to say that she is better of staying there. I don’t see her as a threat to society, but she wouldn’t manage a day outside prison.
No need to work, no home rent/mortgage to pay, free food for life, no bills to pay, stress free life...where she is getting luxury life from...its from American tax payer...
I’m glad to see that Patricia is experiencing and showing remorse for what she was involved with. More than we can say about Susan. She literally said she had no regrets in her life in 2000! I know Patricia did some heinous things but it’s good to see that her life sentence is actually helping her reform and correct her. Unfortunately it’s a wasted life because there’s no way anyone (or me!) would want to see any of the Manson family released. I’m just glad to see the prison sentence actually work for somebody.
is she remorseful for her crimes or is she sorry she has spent her adult life in Prison even if she was remorseful she is where she should be till she dies isn't true accepting responsibility for the terrible thing you've done and also accepting that you are deserving of the punishment?
Moral of the story: teach your children to think for themselves, outside of the box; and that your love for them is unconditional because they are a valuable human being.
I know I am supposed to forgive to be forgiven. But Lord it is so hard even after all these years. I was 14 when this happened and I remember thinking how horrible, being stabbed to death is horrific.
One of the women said that it took a good two years of imprisonment for the effects of the LSD to wear off, and for their minds to clear of hallucinagenic fog.
Now that was quite the "situation" you found yourself in Patsy; stabbing Abigail Folger (stabbed 28 times), and the LaBiancas. You almost make it sound accidental that you were there. You committed cold blooded murder. All it took was an order from Charlie to turn you into a killing machine. Too bad the victims are gone and you are still here.
It took quite a bit more than an order from Charlie, just as it took quite a bit more than an order from the Furher for the Holocaust to happen. It's the people who say "I could never do something like that" who worry me because they aren't aware of their own vulnerabilities, and are therefore exactly the kind of people who WOULD do that if they ended up in the same situation. If you really believe that you wouldn't have done what she did in her situation or wouldn't have been a Nazi in Germany in WW2, or a slave owner, you aught to look at some of the early psychology studies. The Stanford prison experiment is one, and the milligram experiment is another.
I'd like to point out something I've noticed about all of these murderers (Krenwinkel, Van Houten, and Atkins). I think I've watched all of their parole hearings and what I notice most distinctly is that they appear to be fairly businesslike and detached until they begin discussing THEIR pain and THEIR suffering. The most common refrain is that, by a variety of reasons, it either wasn't really their fault, or they weren't fully responsible for their actions. Of course...now...they claim to accept responsibility. Yet, when you ask them "why?" they always seem to blame the charisma of Charles Manson. It's not their fault. They were on drugs. Their mommies and daddies didn't love them enough. They were "lost and didn't know what to do"...and then, it always comes around to the same thing. They were "seduced" by Manson. Tricked. Brainwashed. Anyone who can buy into this argument should consider where it logically leads. After all, if fully-grown women above the age of consent, at the age where they can sign contracts legally, aren't responsible for their actions...the argument that is most forcefully made is that they don't deserve to be free individuals.
Ray Manning The parole officers are not fools and they can see that those women are acting just to get out. Do you really think that Pat, Tex and Leslie are sorry? No way. They are just sorry that they got caught. Now they're planning a way of getting out.
Ray Manning Actually, that's true of most serious criminals. It's a pretty rare day when they're not weaving in some sort of deflection of responsibility. How often do you hear hardened criminals saying something like, "My crimes and misdeeds were all entirely my choice, and I therefore take full and complete responsibility for each and every one of them?" Actually, this woman seems somewhat better than average in that regard.
Ray Manning They were like 19 at the time.. werent you naive back then? susceptible? i know i was. And just look at how many people fall for religions, and act according to what a pastor or pope says?
Wouter Horn What a load of sh@t. Stab a sobbing, terrified pregnant Sharon Tate until she fell dying, crying for her mother? I couldn't do that with a gun to my head or at the threat of killing my loved ones. People choose. They chose every day leading up to that moment.
As a human being, its hard not to feel empathy for her. However, she has to pay for her crime. She helped in taking the life of innocent people (Brutally at that). She should never be released from prison.
@@squatch545 She MURDERED someone Joe. Took the life of an innocent...Brutally I may add. The girls all blame Manson. Let’s put the shoe on the other foot. If the girls and Tex Watson hadn’t committed the murders, Manson wouldn’t have gone to prison for life.
Right about 5 minutes in, she's explaining how she had no sense of self, or who she was, and how she wanted to please. This is the perfect example of someone that people like Charles Manson, and other cult leaders, target. They want young people who are unsure and eager to please. Think of the person everyone knows that's 'too nice.' I'm not justifying her actions, but it's the truth.
I can't help to wonder how sincere can you keep on looking when you have to talk and talk and talk and relive with each interviewer, writer, parole board or anyone just nosy. So if someone said she cries crocodile tears it kinda will be natural as you can cry only so much in 45 years. She does show remorse l, but the unspeakable crimes is hard to ignore.
I think that she is taking responsibility for her part in the carnage. However she’s also acknowledging the role that Manson played in it. She’s also trying to make sense of why she allowed herself to be involved in that. I don’t think she’s dodging any responsibility for the part she played. She does not diminish the horrendous damage that she caused.
Exactly! She regained a sense of consciousness, feeling guilty and recognizing what she did but also accepted she truly was a victim of Charlie’s, all without saying she isn’t guilty
You got there because you killed people baby. I admit this brought tears to my eyes. She looks like she should be someone's grandma. She's a monster though. In court she was smiling and laughing.
Out of all of them she seems to have been the most truly brainwashed. She turned into a different person. She knows she will never get out and she will never really forgive herself because she knows what she did and how horrible it truly was. She is probably the one most aware of her horrendous acts. I hear she is a model prisoner and she seems to have turned her life and mind around the most.
I'm pretty sure that these new-found 'revelations' are of no comfort to Sharon Tate, her baby, et. al. Actually it's very sad that, after 45 years of sitting and pondering, that's all you came up with.
They locked her up and threw away the key; she became yesterday's news. Who/What would she be if she would have remained in the limelight?...I think she's narcissistic, neither remorseful nor empathetic towards her victims.....maybe towards herself. What can she do?......Sadly, nothing.
I've always told my children that hanging with the wrong person or making a bad decision can cost you either you're life or freedom this is a perfect example of what I've always told them.
Yep, and God forgives your past but man does not.
Keep telling kids that always. Keep reminding them that true friends are *SCARCE,* whereas wrong people are only *USERS* and they don't care about their friends closest to them.

Does this include when the U.S. intervened in World War II and saved all of Europe from Nazi dictatorship? Fools.
The disastrous situation included brutal murders that terrified the entire community. There is a valid point here: 7 people suffered horribly in having their lives snuffed out but there was even more damage as all their loves ones also suffered and the society as a whole was harmed.
Yes, this sort of distancing language points to an unwillingness to take real responsibility for what she's done.
'Katie also complained that her hand hurt, explaining that when she stabbed, she kept hitting bones, and since the knife didn't have a regular handle, it bruised her hand' - from Bugliosi's book as Linda Kasabian is walking him through the attack.

She had "choice" before committing murder. Her childhood tale couldn't be more common. Many people end up feeling relatively worthless around that age, but it doesn't immediately imply joining a cult and stabbing people to death. She really lights up for the camera. So L.A. of her.

Most of us had these feelings as kids. We didnt go ruthlessly murder and torture innocent people. Your problems ran deeper than this dear.
Her childhood is not a good enough excuse. Plenty of people have worst childhoods.
She’s served more time than any Nazi war criminal who wasn’t hanged.

How about Pol pot n Stalin n Hitler Tojo say Edi Amin !

Even after they murdered all those people, they were laughing about it!
Wannabe dictator dj RUMP comes to mind in 2022! ❄️😶❄️🌎❄️
I believe all of the Manson followers should remain in prison.
All I am hearing from her is "me, me, me" and it is so typical of a sociopath who is going for the pity play.
sociopath seems correct word
Me me me I find all people are about me. Its about survival folks. How many people actually search out the homeless without love and food. Drs and lawyers dont, they need yachts and things. Pe
@@gina1emo the motive to lie is obvious - PAROLE
I still don't understand how someone who was condemned to die before they abolished the death penalty can be eligible for parole. They already got to keep their life so it should be life without parole.
she still doesn't appreciate the gravity of her crime. it's still all about her. it's all "i, me, mine".
Well, it is a documentary about her and she talks about why she did what she did, and that involves talking about who she was and is.
You learned choice at the most horrific cost ? "You", had it all along!
She followed the group. She let her fellows dictate her choices
But she was an adult. She could have refused to follow the crowd.
Things that play into this case:
-Heavy, heavy, heavy amounts of drugs and alcohol
-childhood trauma (maybe)
-brainwashing
-under development

Nice speech for the parole board.
Nah, I don't think that's what this was. She's known for a long time that she is never getting out. I think this is her way of telling others not to make the same mistakes she did.
“Death to pigs”
I have a hard time seeing them as 'people'
She realizes that now. But! Too late for her. She threw away her whole life.
After 45 years, for the first time, she has my respect.
be sure to let the families of the victims know you respect her lol.
+Tassie G making the wrong choice is a lot eaiser then making the right choice!
She's feigning remorse.
Now in 2019 it´s 50 years, wow.
Lau Ra She has spent half a century in prison, it’s safe to say that she is better of staying there. I don’t see her as a threat to society, but she wouldn’t manage a day outside prison.

why? My day goes on the same way either way.
In other words Patricia Krenwinkel simply ended up where she began, lost.
Great comment
I’m glad to see that Patricia is experiencing and showing remorse for what she was involved with. More than we can say about Susan. She literally said she had no regrets in her life in 2000!
I know Patricia did some heinous things but it’s good to see that her life sentence is actually helping her reform and correct her. Unfortunately it’s a wasted life because there’s no way anyone (or me!) would want to see any of the Manson family released. I’m just glad to see the prison sentence actually work for somebody.
Susan Atkins died from brain cancer years ago.
is she remorseful for her crimes or is she sorry she has spent her adult life in Prison even if she was remorseful she is where she should be till she dies isn't true accepting responsibility for the terrible thing you've done and also accepting that you are deserving of the punishment?
Susan was Awesome. Born again, a great Christian, unlike youse
Moral of the story: teach your children to think for themselves, outside of the box; and that your love for them is unconditional because they are a valuable human being.

@@ghettospaghetti8722 thanks!! I didnt know there was a book- will check it out!
Der Sturz. Fair enough. That means the same goes for yours.
She thinks she's the victim in this. Don't ever let this monster out.
As a human being, its hard not to feel empathy for her. However, she has to pay for her crime. She helped in taking the life of innocent people (Brutally at that). She should never be released from prison.
How long should she be punished for before it becomes just as cruel and heinous as what she herself did? Otherwise, we're no better than criminals.
@@squatch545 She MURDERED someone Joe. Took the life of an innocent...Brutally I may add. In my book her life should be forfeit.....If not for California getting rid of the death penalty, she would have been executed decades ago. @@lonl123 So we should murder people who murder people to prove that murdering people is wrong? 🤣😂

Can you imagine at that age -- and it happens too often -- throwing your ENTIRE life away? Sad. Not fixable, but sad.
I'm sorry, but my intuition tells me every minute of her speaking was ingenuine.
For some reason and despite all her superlatives describing her heinous crimes, they sound disingenuous. Let her rot in jail.
Let her serve out her sentence! I do not care why she did these horrible things, but she did. Let her punishment stand.
You got there because you killed people baby. I admit this brought tears to my eyes. She looks like she should be someone's grandma. She's a monster though. In court she was smiling and laughing.
Master In court she was still under Manson’s spell.
Master and singing!
Shows how brainwashed they were.
Every time I go through that canyon, I feel creeped out.
Wow I believe that..sad
Every time I feel creeped out, I go through that canyon.
What would you come up with, Delores? Lesbian.
She is sorry that she got caught and had to go to prison. I couldn't live with myself after killing innocent people. Obviously she has no remorse.
