George Karl wrote in his book about how Melo needed his father’s guidance (paraphrasing here). The problem with that is that Melo’s pops died when he was barely 3 years old. Habitual line stepper is an understatement. Maybe even a compliment!

I was a Nugget fan at the time and from 2005 to 2006, Kenyon had micro-fracture surgery on both knees. his body was failing him and he was in a very bad mental space at the time. not too many coaches want to deal with that when trying to win playoff games. to make matters worse, the Clippers defensive strategy was to collapse on Melo and make the Nuggets beat them from the outside, which made K-Mart a liability. so it was a perfect storm.

    • @Daniel_Capital

Can’t let you get away with that one, Melo is most responsible for what he did or didn’t accomplish, which is why he never made it anywhere else he played either. Melo didn’t play defense and was too inefficient offensively. Those are facts. Always wanna find a white man to blame and give zero accountability to our brothers. Gary Payton made it to the finals just fine with george karl while being defensive player of the year. Funny how that works
