Daniel Defense has release their new H9 pistol. They bought the rights to the original Hudson 9 but have completely redesigned it into a more streamlined handgun.

I'm glad the H9 is back, and it seems that Daniel Defense did an excellent job with it. I do think that the original Hudson model looks much nicer from an aesthetic point of view though. Those smooth lines and the way the trigger guard lines up perfectly with that recoil assembly in the front gives it such a nice cyberpunk-esque look. The DD model can't quite capture that since it's trigger guard extends below the front of the gun - even with something mounted on the rail it doesn't look quite as nice.
    Great video though!

It's kind of funny how people find different things good looking. I much prefer the lines of the DD and I really like the shape of the trigger guard on the DD gun. I liked the Hudson too, but I think DD improved it's appearance and functionality. Thanks for watching.

I agree the original Hudson looks much better. DD tried to keep the look of the original and make it more conventional in operation and construction so why even buy it when there is nothing unique about it? I've never even heard of or about the original Hudson 9 until Daniel defense talked and their version of it. So with that said I'd definitely be interested in just getting too shoot the DD H9. maybe after its been out for a while about gets more aftermarket support and more holster options it would be hard to pass it up in my opinion.

Would like to see a video comparing the H9, Archon type B 2nd gen and the Shadow 2 compact since they are very close in size and price, well sort of price.

This is an interesting firearm with features that I like. The ones that I’ve seen so far seem to all have heavy trigger pull. That’s definitely a hang up for me esp considering it has a 1911 style trigger. Looking at it makes me think the trigger would be great then it disappoints. If they fix that it would likely be a home run in my opinion.

Is everyone just gunna ignore the fact that just “moving the dust cover up” is not that at all it completely changed the working of the original design. The reason the dust cover was so low was because the recoil spring was that low, and in turn was supposed to make the gun drive more into your hand then want to “flip”. Watch the forgotten weapons series on this it’s all explained in great detail. But don’t be fooled this is just a metal glock now.

Different can be cool but man there are so many killer pistols in this price range. It’s kind of hard to adopt something like this. I could have this or a CZ shadow 2 compact 🤔

I can't really tell much difference at all. If there is a difference, you REALLY have to feel for it.

With DD history of really doing their research and development as well as in my experience awesome customer service I think this gun is worth every bit that much money and is likely going to give some of the competitor metal frame pistols Particularly Walther, Sig, and HK a solid run for their money in the American market given it is a primarily American company. Also competes directly with the new S&W and Springfield all metal offerings that go for a similar price.

So does the DD have a serialized chassis like the original? I was able to purchase a K&E arms aluminum lower and swap it in to my original steel frame one, which probably compares closer in weight to the DD. Also would be nice if DD would make extended maga you can use in the original.

    • @oldscratch3535

It has a fire control insert that is serialized. Its made from a forging. The slide is also a forging.

My experience is limited with this firearm, but the reset on the trigger I have a vastly different opinion on. It sucks. Just straight sucks. The trigger felt like it reset, but it doesn't and leads to a dead trigger. You have to go a bit further THEN the gun resets.
Otherwise everything else seems decent enough, but I think with the cost and that meh trigger I'd just get a Shadow 2 Compact.

My H9 trigger pull is at about 7.2 lb, to the point where I'm thinking about selling it. Daniel defense has told me this is within their range.

I shot the H9 at my local range, I was unimpressed to say the least. My S&W M&P9 M2.0 feels better, shoots better and costs less. My SAR 9 is also much better.

Lol that was my experience on reddit as well. I'm at 500 rounds with zero issues and love it. Waiting on my Crossbreed holster and to put 500 more downrange. As long as there are no issues, I'll start carrying it. I shoot my H9 so much better than the G19 I carry now.
