Someone just pointed out that I had neglected to include the Holiday Record Collection from December 19, 1990. My error. It can be seen here - ruclips.net/video/dKeQtdKKZ1o/видео.html
Thanks, again!
19:22 Mike Judge viewed this particular clip years ago, which eventually led him to use Wilson's "Lesbian Seagull" song on the "Beavis and Butthead Do America" soundtrack in late 1996.
i had always thought that song was a parody written by Mike Judge. Knowing it was a "real" song makes it even more ridiculous.
These Dave's record collection compilations are INCREDIBLE. I have watched them all. I used to keep these on VHS tapes. I cant thank you enough for posting these... You better believe I subscribed! THANK YOU.
Thanks!
Wow! These are so much fun to see again. Cheers Don Giller, you have brightened my world!
That bit at 2 minutes was so good, that is totally gone from late night now.
Just brilliant. Dave at his absolute best and at the height of his powers.
Thank you so much for posting these great Dave Letterman moments.
Hugh Downs ~ still with us at age 97 as of late 2018.
Not anymore; he died a couple months ago at age 99.
Nimoy released five studio albums. FIVE!
one of my favorite things that Dave has done, these crack me up, the Rangers album sounds interesting though.
yes!! yes ! yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!! more records !!
RIP Adam West
This channel is helping me stay sane / insane during 'these times'
Holy cow I have that CB Radio album! Narrated by the guy who did the voice over on Paul Hardcastle's song "19" (among many other things, Peter Thomas. He was a very prolific narrator. I actually took some of the dialogue from that record and edited it so he was saying some very naughty things.
David Letterman apologized to the city of Pittsburgh for a crack about the death of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr.
″It’s terribly sad, and there’s a little controversy surrounding this because he died during the exhibition season. So does it count?″
Thank you
That's actually funny lol
Hugh Downs. Still kicking at 99!
Dead as of July 1st 2020
30 years ago, still funny.
must have iced tea..more often.
Poor Maria Shriver hears that 3 or 4 times a week.
Adam West and Lesley Ann..Batman and Cinderella! And records! Dave's NBC days are the best.
I really liked Dave’s NBC show. CBS never did as well. At first some segments were good. But he just dropped everything.
He had to; NBC were being real dicks and wouldn't let him take any bits or ideas with him to CBS.
I agree. He also became cranky as he got older.
Having Morty as the producer was the difference.
For sure. His CBS reign was about being JOHNNY. Like conan's first run was about being dave. CBS was it's moments at the start but Dave isn't as part of the comedy or the center as he is in the earlier show. The comedy kind of moves around him in the cbs years.
He became a pretentious, self important, SJW. Damn shame...
this is awesome
57:27 Hey, my Birthday! December 18, 1991. I was 15 years old.
The Equalizer sounded like he was doing his Bowie impression lol
Had to search up the joke that offended Pittsburgh:
"David Letterman apologized to the city of Pittsburgh for a crack about the death of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr.
″It’s terribly sad, and there’s a little controversy surrounding this because he died during the exhibition season. So does it count?″ the host of NBC’s ″Late Night With David Letterman″ said during Tuesday’s show.
Still unsure if they were offended at the levity toward the death or towards their football team XD
I LOVE TAKEO ISCHI
Then-Fat Al Roker at 24:15!
+Don Giller- You forget Foster Brooks before Arnie's Workout in the description ;)
The version of White Room by Joel Grey was pretty dope.
Beavis and Butthead research brought me here.
It's amazing how they burn previous guests like Cybill Shepherd and James Brown - the temerity!
Temerity? The vocabulary! :-)
@@voicetube Oh, the temerity!!
@@brucehanson6427 I recently been realizing that improvement in that aspect (temerity) could help improve my income etc.
More tail than Frank Sinatra
God I missed this stuff.
You're lucky--you can bet Jimmy never washed his hands!
The September 13th show is missing the listing of Foster Brooks' album.
@4:59 Looking forward to a Biff "Damn!" compilation.
Angela the page was awfully cute!! I remember this episode because of her.
Dave probably slept with her
I believe he whispered to the lady that came in after adam west “you can stay” and it seemed she wanted to. I wouldn’t be surprised if anything happened between them either
At 15:03, Dave won the door prize as my friends and I used to say.
Make it..... make it in Rockford....
Thanks so much for these! Any chance you have the clip of the Japanese version of Letterman's show? It was a Japanese man, dressed just like Dave, telling some really bad jokes.
Yep; from October 12, 1983.
@@dongiller Do you have the clip?
RUclips-tied I have everything.
It's now up -- ruclips.net/video/bOsmOBg98uA/видео.html
Jesus Hal must be a big superhero fan or something...same as Chris reeve here comes adam west... Funny how he sneaks it in during this sketch lol
20:30 money in the bank comedy routine, the ole "what's next...?" trick. By any miracle, have you uploaded the Supermarket Finds where Dave says (after some absurd product), "what's next, Phyllis Diller's chili?" and then BAM a can of it
March 21, 1989, and no, not yet.
Ah, thanks for the original air date though! The video quality isn't up to your standards, but here it is for the Phyllis Diller fans :) ruclips.net/video/l5T1hk3QsrE/видео.html
At least someone put it up.
I wonder if the writers had these records laying around or did they go to thrift shops to find them, or what?
@Don Giller, I remember a Dave's Record Collection with the Star Wars Christmas Album "Christmas in the Stars" with the song "R2D2 We Wish you a Merry Christmas" and Dave's quip being something like "Paul, isn't that the true meaning of Christmas...Kid's Love Robots!" But I don't see it on any of your compilations. Do you have it archived somewhere else?
I’m not finding it anywhere.
@@dongiller I found it on another link (ruclips.net/video/dKeQtdKKZ1o/видео.html) from another poster at the 5:26 mark. Perhaps it was from a Christmas special and not the regular DL show?
@@gwg37 December 19, 1990. You’re right, I should have included it here in Part 5.
I think the reason I missed it is because I had searched for “Dave’s Record Collection,” and this particular segment was called “Dave’s Holiday Record Collection.”
I should have searched for just “record collection,” and that 12-19-90 segment would have then been caught.
Sorry about that!
I just added the link to a pinned comment. Thanks for finding it!
@@dongiller No problem. I visit your site all the time! Great memories and the humor still holds up! Thanks for putting these compilations together!
shooting projectile candy at the audience !
There's a Christmas themed "Dave's Record Collection" that you missed for this compilation. It's floating around RUclips. Don't get TOO busted up that it was missed ;)
ruclips.net/video/dKeQtdKKZ1o/видео.html&feature=emb_logo
but there is one at the end too...unless re upped it with the x-mas?
And what was the joke he apologized for in the beginning? :)
The first joke during the opening remarks the night before:
"Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney has passed away at the age of 87. Terribly sad. And there's a little controversy surrounding this, because he died during the exhibition season, so does it count?"
@@dongiller Jesus dude -- You must have a crazy executive function IQ bc your memory is out of this world. Thanks for all the info and the incredibly funny videos..
james barrett jr Thanks, but hardly. I rely on the databases I’ve put together.
Dave's HUGE recollection, gives me a big type of feeling...lmao Did Paul mean ERECTION? I think a few people in the audience got that lmao
WEIRD! I just watched Edward Woodward in _The Wicker Man._ Also, if you re-arrange his name, you get Edwood Wardward.
Which song is that on 30:10?
Isley Brothers - “This Old Heart of Mine” (1966). Original recording here - ruclips.net/video/U_9M6kRfJes/видео.htmlsi=3y2_mKXQtTi1iyj-
What, you’ve never seen a seagull eat a clam before?
47:20 - "I HATE these round-steak quizzes!"
4:54 oh my god, it's the Harvey Pekar donuts!! I've seen the Harvey clip separate from this, but I could never remember the origin story of the donuts ruclips.net/video/iBr4NxujLvw/видео.html
I think I included it in my Pekar collection -- ruclips.net/video/biOodnioY8c/видео.html
Ah, so you do! Not sure if it's funnier to a newbie knowing or not knowing the backstory of the donuts. Case in point, when the fake Brandon Tartikoff would come out and say "Thanks, Tom" that would crack me up something fierce. At the time I had no idea who Tom Snyder was or that he had the show prior to Dave in that timeslot. Finding out the joke was Brandon mistaking Dave for Tom Snyder instead of just calling him a random name actually made it slightly less funny to me.
I think you mean, first, Grant Tinker, and then Bob Wright. Played by Elmer Gorry. I play to put together a complete Gorry collection, 'cause I thought he was great.
Oops, yes, of course you're correct. Confusing my NBC pinheads. Elmer Gorry (how do you possibly know all these bench players?) played that perfectly. The bit was so simple, after something entirely untoward, have Grant Tinker enter with a plaque and casually call Dave the wrong name. Even though you'd seen it before and knew it was coming, it would still fracture you.
This might floor you: I have that plaque. Someone who once interned for Conan in the mid-'90s was in the prop room when Conan's prop guy gave it to him. He then sent it to me earlier this year.
When a new Humanitas award was presented, the new cardboard-made sign was simply pasted on top of the previous award.
Anyway, how do I know the bench players? 35 years of living single. :)
I'm sure people lookig back now - always associating hitler with germany lol might suck but it's even awkward then you can tell lol EVERY time Heino comes up he makes a nazi joke...lol I guess there's nothing left in regards to that angle. Heino is hilarious... Was House of pancakes the first ever STRAIGHT re-use? I know they went back to albums early but did they ever play the same one twice? The wine album could now be applied to Cosby...shudder.
