If you add an authorized user, make sure you add their social security number and birth date to the authorized user account.
Here's a very recent story that happened in the past 30 days.
There's a guy who had two authorized users on his American Express Platinum. American Express States clearly and its rules that authorized users must have their social Security numbers and birthdates added to the account within 60 days. Their social security numbers and birth dates were never added to the account. American Express did not have oversight in place to flag the two cards. So it went on for two years with heavy spending and huge amounts of points earned. Then one day, with no warning, American Express cancelled all the cards and the points. They canceled every single one of the primary account holders cards and all points. Even the cards that were not Platinum. Everything. Gone. And they would not reinstate. Absolutely true story.
Why did that happen? So we understand the moral of the story
