Oh that edit turned out nice, the finished one has proper historical shaping to it. A vast improvement as compared to the original. You can stil clock it as modern based on the anachronistic placard decoration but that's another thing.

Good stuff as always Robbie! I appreciate your reference to how much armor was influenced by the fashion of the time as well. Not everything done in period was specifically to improve the function of armor, and there are definitely some less practical aspects that were adopted in favor of being fashionable. Codpeices come to mind of course, but even things like the extremely narrow, tapered waist weren't 100% universal across all of Europe during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Armor is all about the context of when it was made, where it was made, and what was it intended to protect the user from. That's why Milanese armor is different from gothic armor, and why both were different from the English style as well. Different people, living in different regions, with different preferences, all armoring themselves for slightly different, but still relatively similar situations. Thoroughly enjoyed your process through this video and the discussion that went along with it!

It's always a pleasure when one of your armour videos comes out. It's great to have an artist's take on these.

Just saying, at 13:17 those two references are of kastenbrusts which are an earlier German style found in the former half of the century. The left one is possibly not a kastenbrust and instead a transition in style between box breasts and 'gothic' styling, but I've yet to find the original source for the image to know for sure. The waistline changes between the two periods in time between your references.

The original looks more like a backplate!

Any thoughts on the Witcher Netflix Geralt's new armor for season 2?

It's better than the really awful 'bin bag' armour from season 1. It's still no good though, and hardly functional!

Sir, before you tell us about historical correct armor, please correct your jacket. There is no criss-cross lacing in the Middle Ages.
