Love the blog in any format. As a long retired plumber gas fitter I still like to keep up with modern technology and advancement in plumbing techniques and find your blog excellent for this purpose.
I thought id just add my very own f**k up event, going way back to the 70s for this.
Id been called our to a smell of gas from a cannon gas fire, common call out at the time. The problem was a dry brass barrel in the on/off mechanism which was fixed by smearing with Rocol grease. Anyone who has come across Rocol will know that it is a thick black grease contained in a small tube ( think toothpaste ) On finishing the job I stepped back onto the tube which proceeded to eject a 2ft stream of black grease onto a lovely fawn coloured wooden carpet, in panic i tried to wipe the grease off which obviously made matters worse.
Attempts by a carpet cleaning company were deemed unacceptable so a new carpet was installed. I had to live with that event for a long, long time .

Re regulations. The best advice is not to think you have understood a reg by finding only one reference. Always cross reference as what you may think is ok may not be allowed under another reg. Good work you are doing keep it up.

Worked on a glow worm with that exact same filling loop on Monday, first time i had ever seen one.

Talking out knocking a bucket of water over, i did a daft thing the other day. Working in this flat about to fill the radiators up, went round and closed off all the air bleeds, thinking iv'e done them all, started filling up, went round venting but there was a radiator at the back of a sofa which i'd forgot about as it was mainly hidden. All the air bleeds were the type that you can angle the way the water sprays out. All of a sudden i heard something when i went into the lounge, water was spraying out of the radiator upwards at a 45 degree angle and landing on the sofa, Haha, wouldn't have been as bad if it was angled towards the floor
PB iam in my 40's and almost finished my plumbers course then I start a gas Safe course, I stumbled on your channel a few days ago and since then started watching them from the start iam currently onto #19 so almost caught up. Your a huge inspiration and the fault finding process is my favourite. Keep doing what your doing.
Nice one pete, i have only recently discovered that cheat for the worcester plate removal it is great when space available. The filling loop, what a pain in the arse, usually very stubborn to locate. As much fault finding in real time that you want to share i would love to see. cheers.

Gah that Glowworm ultracom2 filling loop cost one of my customers a new PCB cause the tenant flooded the inside of the boiler. Crap design.

Great idea to have a short mid week release. I would suggest to keep that fck moment for the Sunday release has it changes the momentum of the video. I would keep it more of quick tips kind of video for the few idle moments on the job. Great work again. Thx.

Changed a wb greenstar plate today, I can usually, lift it up and turn it on its side and get it out between the pipes. But yeah otherwise get the hot water pipe off.

Great videos ... got a question for you ....immersion heater tank electric elements only top and bottom .bottom element went faulty . Top one was working .. replaced bottom element with a new one . Refilled up tank check both elements are working . Now the top one does not work .. someone told me thermal shock on the existing element caused it to fail .. is this correct 👍👍

I’ve been a heating engineer for years and work on all boilers daily and I’ve never seen that glow worm filling link🤔 looks like another over engineered piece of crap🤷♂️

These are Wera Hex keys, am I right? Got the same ones, what I especially like is that the smaller keys have quite a thick body. You can barely bend or break them.

Great video PB! What would you do if you replaced the heat exchanger, but this didn’t solve the issue which means you need to replace other parts to the boiler?
If I get things wrong I find it hard to charge them more than what I originally said

I remove one of the copper pipes so I can get one hand up there. Then refit after with a compression. Saves time in the long run. 👍
If you can move the cold you can get your hand up, it’s still a pain but it’s doable

@@PBPlumber Blaby myself, Dad was a plumber, so then i was a plumber , Boilers were a lot easier to fix in the old days...
All you needed was a thermocouple and a gas control valve. I still get them stories every time i see him.
