A lot of people have most likely have said this but the amount of effort you put in to your work is outstanding pal. You need to get good old Todd glister on one of your podcasts, that’s if you both can keep off your phone’s long enough!!!

Good for you Pete, you won't miss the letting agents and the crappy tenants. I ditched them 12 months ago after working with them for 15 years, it will feel like a big jump but you won't regret it. Better customers, better quality of work and get paid straight away rather than having to wait weeks or sometimes months. Here's to the new you 👍

I’m 52 now and am looking for a new challenge for the next/last 15 years of my career. My existing job doesn’t test me anymore, I still love fixing things, being office based doesn’t appeal to me ( my current mechanical superior has just quit and I know no one is interested/capable of stepping into his shoes ). I’m the type of engineer who wants to solve the jobs others have been to and failed, that drives me. Every job I go to I normally know what the problem and fix is before I get there.

Good for you PB. Best move you can make I reckon, you always sound way more upbeat on the bigger jobs. I jacked in the shite housing association work that was grinding me down recently and moved onto the risk assessment/compliance side of things, best thing I've done.

I was not a plumber and only occasionally worked on toilets but I used to put PTFE around the plastic fitting coming thought the base of the cystern as I found the water could leak down through the plastic fixing nut threads not too much though or you risk crossing the threads .like wise fixing Essex bosses to cylinders.

Good for you mate, it takes a special person to do the rental work, I did it for a few years about 10years ago and hated it. Much prefer just doing my own work👍🏼👍🏼
And MASSIVE well done on the channel sponsors 👍🏼 People don’t realise just how long it takes us to edit up videos up etc so that just makes it worth while👍🏼👍🏼
Also, I struggle to keep my 6pack aswell mate…. 🤣🤣

    Great content, and varied.

Go for it Pete. After just over 50 years in the plumbing/heating game I’m now retired, miss the people I worked with and alongside other trades, but not the present generation of customers. They all want something for nothing, someone I was working with on a job once asked me would I stop working if I won the lottery to which I replied probably not but I’d try and find something where I wasn’t in direct contact with the general public ‘cos they’re all a---es. It’s YOUR life do what YOU want to do. Keep up the good work and look after yourself. Keep making the videos. P.S. long time since I was 40. P.P.S. Don’t forget your pension.

You'd love to work for me as where i can i switch out all fixings for stainless steel on toilets, sinks, baths etc and anything outside.... Saves me lots of time when i go back to fix things years later. And you don't end up with a cistern coming loose as the screws holding it to the wall rust away as they get wet from the spray. I also use stainless steel nails on my roofing jobs and roofers look at me as though i am mad as most just use galvanised.

Thanks for the video - I wish I had your skills I understand your frustration with some of these "straightforward" jobs that turn into a nightmare and as you said "I might get the job but don't want it". However, where does that leave me as a consumer? Trying to get tradesmen is difficult just now for a variety of understandable reasons but if I have got a leaking toilet I don't have any choice but to try and get a plumber. If the trade is trying to avoid jobs they don't want we really are in a bad way.

You don't need the shit stuff at this stage in your career. Big jobs done right each time, with the detail and time you put into them, will pay your bills.
My only comment would be to always wear your own T shirts that promote YOUR channel... and not a certain music channel 😒
Conventions are fun... you never know who you'll meet but make sure everyone knows who you are, and give them a nudge towards your channel.
