  • Super Soco CPx electric scooter review by KNOX ⚡
    Recent subscribers to Knox social media and RUclips channels might have come to expect wheelies, burnouts and powerful motorcycles, but actually, we love all types of 2 wheeled machines. But here we have something very different, the Super Soco Cpx electric scooter.
    The most powerful and longest range electric scooter in the Super Soco range, the CPx has a claimed 4000watts of power, 171nm of torque, top speed of 56mph, a range of up to 87miles with a recharge time of 3-4 hours.
    Super Soco UK quote this bike as a fast and nimble 125 killer and we spent a couple of weeks putting the CPX electric scooter to the test and getting to the bottom of whether this electric scooter really could be the nail in the coffin of the combustion engine scooter market.
    This video is time stamped as below:

    1:24 Commute vlog
    6:34 What's good
    9:19 What's not so good

    For this test, we had the double battery version of the Super Soco CPX, and we tested its maximum range, acceleration, top speed, recharge time and a bunch of other things. You can check out the full written review here, www.planet-knox.com/super-soc....
    You can find out more about the Super Soco on the official website - supersoco.co.uk/super-soco-cpx/.

    Good review on what the bike is and isn't capable of. As a owner of the CPX, there are a few things to know for any potential buyers.
    1. Power - on a single battery, once you reach 30%, you will notice the power output will be reduced and lag. I don't know if this is the same for electric cars (interested to know). I don't know if this is a power saving thing but there's a very noticeable reduce in speed/acceleration. Especially up hill.
    2. Range - this is definitely a city bike. 40/ 30 mph roads. I live 10miles out of
    Birmingham city centre so never really have to get out of 2nd gear. So from 100% battery and doing a 20mile round trip, I'm left with just over 40%. But I find the range varies so much when riding a few more miles in 3rd gear. I want the ride to be reliable. So if you do live move rural and will need 3rd gear for 40mph+ and doing 30-40 miles round trips, I would recommend 2 batteries.
    3. Battery - this one is simple, those batteries are heavy. It's good that you can remove them to charge but think of 4, 6pints of milk in one shopping bag... You don't want to walk too far with it.
    Other than that, I find it great.... SOLELY for commuting. Fast enough to get ahead at traffic lights. Powerful enough to overtake slower drivers. Very comfortable to ride because of the wider and longer padded seat and I'm 6ft 4. Also I've never owned or rid a motorbike/ moped/ scooter before so this is easy and very low maintenance. Just see how well the battery performs after 5k miles.

    looking to get this between the Niu Nqi GT but was disappointed about the range to weigh ratio of the batteries. having 90Ah battery should net you more than 100kms at higher speeds. they need to improve the efficiency . still wanting to have a scooter that can do 200kms even if i can only ride it at 70kmh average speed. maybe in the future i hope so

    Aaron, loved the honest review. I’m a fan of ICE scooters but have only tried one electric car and one electric bicycle so far. They were fun but a bit too pricey for me. The cars range wasn’t enough for my commute at the time. The bicycle was excellent and you can still peddle. You mentioned 2040 as a date for ICE motorcycles being stopped from selling. I’m not in the UK but I read that ICE engine cars and vans will stop in 2030. Why the difference?

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  3 года назад +3

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. It was 2040, but the day after we released the video, they changed it to 2030... how this will really be possible is yet to be seen and there aren't really proper plans from the UK government so we'll wait to see if it actually happens... what I know so far is that we are a long long way from being able to transport our whole nation via electric vehicles and have no where near the infrastructure to support it. Thanks Aaron Knox

    I commute on a SYM 50cc bigwheel scooter and was wondering whether this could be a replacement.
    I think I'll buy SYM's upcoming new bigwheel and ride that for the next few years. I hope that the electric scooter will evolve in that period to really become a serious alternative to the 50cc petrol scooters. They all have too much downsides at this stage.

  • @KindOldRaven
    @KindOldRaven 2 года назад +2

    The only real problems with electric scooters and motorcycles is that batterypacks just... don't evolve all that much anymore. Sure, they last longer than the lead-based ones from years ago, but they still don't provide the range you would like. I can't charge at work so I need something to at least provide with (an easy) 60+ miles in order to be able to ride comfortably for a year of every day use. That's possible, but I'm not going to use something with a max speed of like 18mph. That, plus the prices of replacement batteries and the fact that a simple Sym Fiddle 2 can easily drive 130+ miles without stopping for gas at less than half the price of one of these make it a hard sell to me.

    What you gotta remember with a small, electric motorbike like this is: are you gonna need to travel more than the estimated max range in a day? If not, you're golden. Because you just charge it up in the garage overnight.
    Reviewer says they get around 40miles per charge with 2x batteries but they also said they do a lot of 50mph+ A road stuff where they are.
    If you're commute or usage would involve a lot of 50mph+ A-road riding... this isn't the right bike for you, sorry.
    If you're commute or usage will mainly be in and around the city centre, where you're only gonna be averaging around 15-20mph through traffic anyway, and where the average commute length (one way) is about 6-8miles, then this is perfect.
    You'll likely get closer to 50+ miles of range (from the twin battery setup) so you just need to leave it charging overnight every 2-3 days.

    • @seismic6402
      @seismic6402 2 года назад

      For a city commute, this could even be considered overkill. The Super Soco CUX comes in considerably cheaper and would seem to cover the requirements. Also, if you have a car licence, either acquired rights or a CBT would allow L plate free riding from the get go.

    We use these as the vehicle of choice for my courier job, delivering groceries to the local neighborhood. Our bikes are limited to 30mph, so you find yourself either getting in the way of other traffic, or being overtaken by everyone, including those with electric bicycles... There seems to be a momentary dead spot when giving it the beans from a standing start, but not sure if that's down to the artificial limiter that's been put on. I'd love it if someone could tell me the secret code to get full power back 😉. The suspension is also another bad point. To me it feels almost as if they just didn't bother, just stuck some hollow scaffolding poles where the shocks should be... However, once you're up and moving, as long as you're not in a hurry, it's kinda fun.

Would that have more miles with this setup to cover, and reduce less range with incresing payload to the metioned degree? bmw c evolution has two bttery - range option single is rated for 60 miles, double is rated for 100 miles. THe thing is i only have a1 license and don' want to upgrade. But a far as I know the c evoltion base range package is driveabel with a1. Was really close to going electric for my first scooter, but decided against it at the last minute.
    Kind of got the impression from multiple sources that the range is based on the most efficient driving by a 75kg rider without stopping at traffic lights or going full throttle at any point. From new, the battery life will inevitably gradually get worse. At some point a new battery or batteries will be required and they are not cheap.
    I figured, putting even £10-£12 of petrol a week in a cheaper scooter isn't too bad and still only £22 road tax.
    Also, it isn't uncommon to be able to get ABS and traction control on a petrol scooter and still come in significantly cheaper than this.
    Perhaps the technology and cheap production of batteries is still around 5 years away and let's face it charging points are not everywhere yet.

      The reason to use the front brake for stopping is that as you apply the brake progressively the weight is transferred to the front tyre to better grip the road. “Don’t bother with the riding modes” …That really shows the reviewer doesn’t understand how the bike works. In town, on mode 1, you get a much bigger range. With normal mixed riding , most owners report around 90-100 miles on 2 batteries.
