- TRAINING A RED TAILED HAWK TO FOLLOW - ACR Outdoors
Part 4 of the "Trapping to Hunting a red tailed hawk" series.
Join us on this episode as we show you how we trained "Maxx" our passage Red tailed hawk to follow and hunt. We don't get any thing on this hunt but he follows me very well and gives a few good squirrel chases. I think he is going to be an awesome hunter.
Thanks for watching our falconry adventures and make sure to check out my other videos.
A falconry license is required to own/hunt a red tailed hawk in Ontario.
Contact Ontario hawking club for more information.
I'm in my first year of the Ontario falconry apprenticeship program so please check with your sponsor if you have any questions.

He is so good. I can't wait until the leaves are off the trees.
Glad I found your channel. Going to get started as an apprentice this year in PA
Awesome. It's so much fun
does he follow you by walking you without you calling
Yes, once trained they just follow
@@ACRfalconry I have heard that only if it is imprint
What day are you on in your training for this video
It was day 20
So you don't train to the lure before braving the woods?
No as he is a wild caught bird so he should know the basics. Hopefully 😊
ACR OUTDOORS I meant as a way for recall since he was more interested in things that were moving. Sometimes the lure is a way to get them back if they’re not interested in the food on the glove from what I understand. (Been studying but not ready to commit yet :)
