  • Latest update from Harry's Farm includes a look at repairing Cotswold stone walls, how the single farm support payment works and how it will change in 2021. Then join me on my Cagiva Elefant 900ie (the bike that won the 1990 Paris-Dakar desert race) as we look round the farm to see the spring wild flowers in the organic pastures coming through and how the crops are doing too.

I live in suburban America and can't keep houseplants alive, so I'm a total loss to explain why I'm utterly enthralled by a RUclips channel about a UK gentleman farmer and his beautiful farm in the Cotswold Hills...but here I am. I've watched every episode with great interest and can't wait for more!

If coronavirus has taught us one thing it's that we need to become as self sufficient as possible.
If we rely on imported produce, as we tend to do with other general items which very often come from China, we can end up in situations where we can end up with all sorts of supply problems and effectively having to pay extortionate prices for food, medical equipment and many other items.
We need to start properly supporting our farmers, engineering companies etc

We don't need to teach them anything. They wouldn't listen anyway.
What we need to do is cut all trade with them.
We can grow our own crops.
We can produce enough beef and lamb to feed the nation.
      We can provide enough milk.
We have loads of gas and coal.
We can be self sufficient but we chose to rely on imports and now we are paying the price.

Just found your channel while eating a bacon roll breakfast, you put it over so well and having a few subjects made the video so watchable.
I'm from a farming heritage with my Gt Grandad having a market garden mid was from Wrexham and the English border. It was passed down to my uncle and father in the mid 30s. On the outbreak of WWII one had to join the military and my father was chosen in a toss of coins. After the war my fathers unit was employed in war damage repair and on demob was taken on by a civil engineering contractor. Fathers share of the farm was passed to uncle on the understanding he looked after my 4 aunties. My school holidays were often spent at the farm, which living in North London was great to be out on the land. Learnt to drive a grey Massey, well steered it along the crop rows as the pickers loaded the trailer.
On leaving school I started working on a dairy farm nr. Potters Bar, Herts. The farm produced all the feed for the herds, and I rose to be a tractor driver on an old TVO/Petrol Fordson fitted with the luxury seat option, a folded hemp sack!!!.
Later moving to a Blue Fordson Major and then the Massey Ferguson 65. I gave up farming in the autumn as dad had proved his point that construction paid a lot more money.
Sorry this is your channel and here I am giving my life story, well it has kept me busy during the lock down here in Vietnam. Stay safe, thanks

We have wonderful arable + pasture land, let's use it properly. We shouldnt be importing stuff we can grow ourselves. If it adds a penny or 2 to a pint of milk or a loaf of bread so what. The picking season is short, hard work and quite brutal. That's just the way it is. Workers often do 14 hour shifts, they need to.stay near to the crop. I'm not sure what you would have farmers do? They provide accommodation for the workers that come from all over Europe to work hard and earn money. A high percentage of our unemployed could do this. Unfortunately we allow them to laze around on benefits that we pay for. Time for this to stop. If as a nation we can't even be arsed to pick our own fruit then we a genuinely fucked
