- The recent period of 30 degree plus temperatures has made the wheat fit for combining quicker than expect but with storms forecast, could we get the harvest completed before the rain arrived? Find out here.
Never thought combining could be so exciting👍😂
You mean darn stressful.
Exciting yes.
And Harry drives anything anywhere.
Forget F1
@@Lordwilliams1990 seen enough stress in my youth with combines ...........if you gave me onefor nothing i would not use it ..........very same goes for small square balers .................still love to see a combine in action ............a contractos one ...!
As a child, forty something years ago we had cornfields near our home and my Dad used to take me to watch the harvesting.
As an adult, 50 in November, I still love to watch it especially in the dark.
More in this style please, the "off the cuff" "stream of consciousness". The immediacy of your situation while recording, created a visceral experience surpassing any exotic-car road test.
Hollywood employs countless writers and directors in mega-budget productions and yet can't produce anything as entertaining as Harry explaining farming, racing a storm to finish the harvest :) Let's see the twists and turns of the next season!
That was a nail biter with “Charlie the fastest combiner in Oxfordshire” and “Good riddance to 2020 roll on 2021” I see the thumb is still attached!!!
I want this channel to be part of the curriculum. we should all know where our food comes from, how it is harvested and the trials and tribulations that are involved with farming.. Harry has a rare ability to explain and educate in a straight talking manner that is so engaging you just want to keep watching!!
amazing how well that Autocue works in full sun ! as if! never too many words and never a wasted one either, never bored with Harry.
totally agree, and i am sure that a child would find this format more interesting as it contains passion.
I remember so many days like that on my parents' farm - tension, pressure and at times frayed nerves - that's farming in New Zealand too. Well done, Harry and good riddance to 2020 from over here too.
Well Done Harry and Co, must be a relief.
Ian Tyrrell must be counting down those 28 days before payment!
Amazing how invested we have all become in the fortunes of Harry's Farm in the last year or so, Brilliant to see it from planting to harvest with all the ups and downs 2020 has brought
Hope 2021 will be a better year for everyboby, harvest wise and not only
And who lives behind the Camera. Mrs Metcalfe as allways. Let's have a shout out for her please (power behind the throne?)
If someone had said you have to watch some guy and his farming toys, I would have laughed at them. Yet here we are, both myself & my wife glued to it like it was Line Of Duty !
I never thought I would watch farming videos but Harry you make it a delight. I 've watch just about all you farming videos and most more than once, probably many many times. I subscribe to both your channels and they have become my main source of entertain and to relax to. Harry you are an absolute pleasure. Thank you Sir.
Why would anyone pay the BBC £12 per month to watch shows like Countryfile when you can get content like this for free which is far more informative and exciting.
I totally agree, don't waste your money on the TV licence, i cancelled mine last year, best thing I did.
Because the BBC is excellent value for money and the envy of the world. What other broadcaster stepped up to educate our kids when Coronavirus struck? Educate, Inform and Entertain.
@@VanderlyndenJengold the educational side I agree on, thats what the BBC is best for.
Yes, what a great video! Nice bit of tension building, almost like a movie! :)
@@fxkraft1037 Crawler? So you can't have an honest opinion?
What a lucky man. Cars and farming.... both satisfying and a joy... most the time.
Magic stuff as ever Harry. I think that it's about time that you introduced us to Charlie and his take on Harry's Farm.
Looking fwd to more video's on getting the land sorted & planted for next year.
I wish we had held our nerve for an extra day, Our moisture started at 15.7 in the morning and finished at 14.4 in the evening. The promised storm never came, it went around us and up the river Severn instead. Great light show.... but apart from a few drops.... No rain. Oh for a crystal ball.
Only Harry can make watching the combine harvesting more exciting than watching F1 these days. I enjoyed this video more than watching Spanish GP. Marvellous indeed!
Harry, yet another engaging, entertaining and informative presentation. Yours are much more than ‘videos’! I was feeling anxious about you and Charlie finishing the harvest before the rain storm rolled in - very exciting! Keep the excellent farming content coming - So fascinating!!!👍👍👍👍
Your films are a joy and remind me of my Great Uncles farm in Somerton, Somerset who was very traditional in that everything was from horse dawn days plus a threshing machine and several very elderly Fordson tractors, one or two of which worked! In the 1950,60’s it was a picture book but probably highly inefficient. He never worried..as long as they had something to eat, he didn’t care. I wish I had pictures to show but Harry...keep cutting, ploughing and seeding...it makes us feel good! 😀😀😀😀
Absolutely fascinating. It’s compelling viewing. Since watching Harry’s Farm I know more about ears, tilling, drilling, moisture content, combining and a vast array of other stuff I feel like I want a job. Gis a job Harry! 🚜
A very edifying watch indeed.
If only more content was so informative and authentic. The frenetic pace to complete the harvest before the inclement weather closed in was genuine suspense and entertainment.
I derive a vicarious pleasure watching a vocation that I’ve always felt affiliated to!
Hi Harry....watching the harvest is a bit of a thriller....I love your videos..and love watching all things on the farm...all your work is really appreciated!. Richard
Wonderful farming drama, we're there for real. And all that big kit with really informed explanations. I learn something from every programme, and I'm a farming journalist!
Who would think that farming could get so exciting! Love the channel Harry.
Another cracking video with equally exciting commentary. Latest we went on night was 04.30 am. Spring barley, moisture was low, straw didn't get damp, boss gave us a choice: to stop late night or keep going because he would have to pay us at the week end anyway. We kept trosh'in. Had a slight rain which cause straw to wrap around header. Moisture still good. Finnish the whole lot by 20.00 the following day (Friday). Thanks Hugh & Darren!
Awesome Guerrilla style filming. Brilliant final scene! haha Nice work, Thanks Harry
5 seconds in and I’m already smiling like a little child at the return to screen of the Landy. Love these videos Harry
OMFG, the tension!!!! Haha! Really brilliant to watch, Harry!
If the next James Bond film is as exciting as this they did a great job. And I thought nothing would come close to the T50 video this month!
Well done Harry, your optimism and positivity earn you a lot of admirers, and hopefully you will have a better harvest next year.
Some good old memories were brought with this video.
My wife and her mum grow rice in Thailand. Fifteen years ago, dozens of people would turn up to help hand harvest the crop. As factories moved into the country it ended up with three of us taking almost three months to do the crop; people were busy in the factories. Finally, I persuaded them to rent a combine harvester service . Instead of three months the crop was cut in less than a day. One thing was pretty much guaranteed - it was not going to rain for several more months.
I could watch you guys working all day... LOL....You sound like you are glad to see the end of the 2020 harvest mate...👍
Wow - there's quite a bit of drama in farming that I never considered - and you captured it well. Thanks for another great post!
What a great video, and ironically I'm sat catching up in August 2021 with the rain hammering down outside!
Harry ya make my day when I see a Harry’s farm or garage video! Keep up the good work and stay safe in the fields and on the roads good sir.
👍🤗great video and thank you to you all including Mrs Metcalfe!
Fabulous stuff Harry; I am definitely a fan of yours; real drama not manufactured stuff!!!!! It would not be remotely so good without your ability to communicate and explain everything.
Finally someone who appreciates drivers, thank you Harry.
Fantastic video.
I really enjoy these videos. Plus they are educational. Thanks Harry
Thanks harry for capturing the race against the weather so nicely, you could see the combine getting faster and faster as the rain storm closed in, hope next year will be a great one,
Absolutely loved the live action towards the end, even nicer though was seeing the Series making a backstage appearance!
Have to say best RUclips channel out there. Keep up the good work Harry. 2021 will be a better year👍
Been a "townie" all my life and never thought I be interested in farming until I starting watching these videos! 👍
Great video Harry, you certainly cut that fine. Best to get it in before the storm, in case it was like what we had up here in NE Scotland the other morning. Have never seen rain like it before.
Well done Harry. These videos are so real and informative. Best wishes from Australia.
This video is absolutely brilliant mate. I felt the tension watching it as the storm approached. But gum you've a hard job , weather, breakdowns etc all live too. Honestly one of the best vids I've ever watched . Respect and more
Fantastic video!
I loved the camera work while driving alongside the combine, and it was great to see the old series out and about in its natural habitat.
That thumb though... Ouch!
That thumb still looks very painful! Great video, never new harvesting could be so exciting.
Hi harry, enjoy your videos. we finished harvest on the 12th, also glad to see the bsck of this one, but as annoying as rain is at harvest i would be happy to see some. In my part norfolk we haven't had any for weeks missing the storms so far and it lokks like the next batch coming on the 14th will miss us as well. The sugar beet leaves are on the floor each day now and are really struggling. What a season.
Mother Nature. She's the boss ! Proper vid Harry 🇬🇧. Let's see Charlie . CD in New Hampshire 🇺🇸✌️👍
I learn so much about the farming process just from watching these videos - many thanks Harry and family.
Brilliant Harry & Charlie 👍🏼👍🏼🚗
Who thought farming could be so nail biting!!! Thanks Harry for a great video!!
Just brilliant viewing with a real thriller for a finish - great job Harry and hope 2021 is better !
That’s was super cool, miss farming with my Father, spring barley all in, but yields were crap too, like you say forget 2020 crack on 2021!! Hope you drinking some good wine 🍷 👍👍
I'm a truck driver. A few years ago i gave the bulker job a go just at harvest time. I enjoyed collecting the wheat from the farms but delivering it to the mills etc was a nerve wracking time. They test the moisture content at every delivery point and are happy to reject it if they don't like it. Fortunately i didn't have many problems.
I so need a Combine Harvester in my life. Brilliant video as always Harry.
Fascinating! No one but Harry can make harvesting so interesting. Most enjoyable. Thanks.
Great video! imho Thanks (lightnings in the night; stormy weather in short sleeves; end of harvest; its novelesque! there's even a bit of crop left unharvested...)
Fantastic exciting video with added drama. Loved it....
I guess Harry is the only one who drive a tractor with a Rolex...
Harry showed the clipping action that actually cuts the grain. That method was the invention of Cyrus McCormick that made his first horse drawn reaper effective and practical in 1831. Not only that, but no better action has ever been discovered --- and McCormick's clipping action is the standard and universal method of cutting grain or every harvesting machine made since 1831.
Thanks for taking time for the camera! Very excited to see the harvest come indoors. I really think you have managed this year (which we shall never speak of again) well.
U have some lovely well looked after machinery... great video 😀
Great vid Harry ,only came in for a peek ,ended up watching you guys racing to get done, well done harry
Us growers are never bloody happy - keep it up Harry alays interesting watching the channel.
Edge of the seat stuff. Brilliant. 👍🏻
My uncle had a farm of about 60 acres. He had a Dronninborg trailed combine with initially a four foot cutting head, then he traded up to six feet. It took a week to cut twenty eight acres of Barley, but they really were happy days.
barley was worth something back then ......!
What a nail-biting vlog! Bloody well done
Great to follow you. Well done harry and Charlie!
Just discovered your farming videos and working my way through them, this one is Amazing , well done for keeping calm and positive.
Great videos so far, very interesting and professionally done. Loved my time working on a farm and fortunately I didn’t own one!
Keep them coming
Jacks up b
Excellent! Sun and rain, tension and joy. Its over. Thanks for taking us along Harry. It's been a wild ride this year.
Such a shame Mother Nature is a fickle old bird at times. I was rooting for you to get finished. Half expected to end on a cliffhanger - “come back next time to see if we beat the storm!!!” 😆 Thanks Harry for these & HG vids, your wealth of knowledge is incredible, I was explaining to my 8yo daughter whilst cycling past our local farm all about the harvest. I knew a fair bit as I’m ex farming stock, but added some of your info too. 👍🏻
Amazingly exciting! great stuff, Thank-You!!
We're grateful that you kept the camera rolling even though you were up against it, close but no cigar, plus Charlie was shaving that off Wilkinson Sword close to the ground, another excellent video, thanks.
Wonderfully informative as ever Harry!
Harry these videos are just so great, thank you.
Your thumbnail certainly shows signs of being nipped in the trailer. Another excellent video Harry, thanks
Well-done, Harry and Charlie!
Love this channel.
Great video Harry. Thank you.
Best Harry's Farm video yet. Riveting stuff and loved that he continued filming as the rain fell, really gives you a great perspective on farming. For good or ill.
Absolutely brilliant! Well done Harry!
Glad you got there in the end Harry, here’s looking forward to next year
Well done Harry , that lighting creates bush fires over here in Australia. Very dangerous with all that metal Hanging About
Thank you for the video Harry. A charming look into life on a farm, something that shows how the world is still chugging along even as loud mouth people shout over one another.
Can't wait to see the next installment!
Brilliant video, managed to show what a challenge farming is battling the weather,
That thumb looks sore!
I was on the edge of my seat watching that! Well done Harry/Charlie!
Love a sign out in a middle of a storm.
Great video.
Brilliant stuff ! Thanks !
So stoked that we got another video already! Love your work Harry!
Brilliant, thanks for your candour Harry
Thanks for these videos. When the wind and rain hit us here in Bicester last night we were thinking of you!
Nice to see the little series 1 out on duty, harry
Fantastic Harry! Hope everything dries out well.
Wonderful entertainment! Thank you!
That was a very exciting, down to the wire finish! My favourite output on your HF channel to date. Thank you, and a good job indeed!
Brilliant as always... good luck with the last 1 1/2 acres!!
Great channel. Very exciting to watch.
