Cyber trucks rusting. we don't want electric vehicles.
Also all electric cars, Chinas not selling.
Poor woke austin....
So inflation had nothing to do with it? Right?
Talk to a Musk worshiper and he will claim that all auto companies are laying off workers. They always have an excuse.
Most people can barely afford rent. Buying a 100k truck is insanity.
i hear ya, but, buying a $10 coffee, a $6 hamburger, or $6 for a gallon of gas is also insanity... and everyone seems to be doing that without question.
same people spend $1000 on a phone and 500-1000/year on a mobile plan. they pay anywhere between 200 and 1400/year for streaming services, then they complain about not having enough money for rent or new tires for their car. by-and-large, 70%+ of the people (in the US) are their own worst enemies when it comes to finances.
Especially this silly looking 15yo’s imaginary idea of a vehicle used for actual work.

Those trucks are UGLY!!!!!!
My ugly gf years ago was the hottest woman of my life. I hope you are well, Emily.
I wish I can afford one even if they are ugly 😞
And they are also terrible ....
I promise you if you got the money for a cyber truck, you’re gonna buy any car but that
It's not just that it's ugly. It doesn't make any practical sense to own. It can't do any of the things that a conventional pickup truck can do. It can't keep up with any I.C.E. pickup on the road or do any serious work. So what's the sense in it? And this is not brand specific either. EVs in general make no common sense to own at all. Price to performance they just make no sense. They are inconvenient, very expensive to run and maintain and they don't last very long. They are merely toys for the rich to play with.

I always found it odd how employees are expected to give 2 weeks, but that same courtesy does not work both ways.
They get severance. I did with Tesla back in 2018
Employees do not need to give notice at all. It's a way to not burn your bridges. It's totally on you. These laid off workers get severance. And it'll be a lot more than 2 weeks of it.
@andyleo8418 the people I know hope they they get something. They haven't been updated since the email and Tesla won't respond.
Take this job and shove it im not working here anymore.
No they're not. It's simply a courtesy.
Over 9 years at Tesla. I worked essentially two positions at work to make sure I am always busy. Got let go today. This wasnt a job for me, it was my career. I helped build our deparment from when it was very disorganized and barely growing. A little heart broken today.
Bradley here. Reaching 2 years. Best front seat frame reworker on the whole line for night shift. Even outperformed 3 day shift reworkers. I was let go even after being given that "employee of the week" award that seats was doing, excited to work again next week; but there will never be a next week.
You forgot the number one job security element -- ABAK. Always be ass kissing.
@ibibleflop Sorry to hear. I read an article that they let go a lot of their top performers. I think it was intentional, in order to bring new workers in and pay less.
@marin5698 I really appreciate your kind words!
Lesson learned. Hard work doesn’t really pay, you get laid off anyway. Wishing you better opportunities for the future.

Welcome to life as a corporate worker. They want YOU to give two weeks notice but they never do. NEVER give your loaylty to any company. Be loyal only to your family and their interests. Live below your means and save. The braggerty feeling if rocking the latest gadhets and cars on credit to impress people you don't care about is fleeting and empty whereas knowing you have financial security is the true 'flex'.
Good advice, mostly...but. It's all well and good to say "live below your means and save", but have you seen the prices of food, education and housing lately? I'm the last of the boomers, and had the opportunity to do those things. Not so easy for the current generation. Do they even teach home economics in school anymore? Are kids taught by anybody how to balance a checkbook, and calculate the interest in a mortgage?
you give two weeks they are giving 60 days pay without work. so yea whats your point?
didn't it say they were getting severance pkgs? and paid until June something?
I totally agree with your statement, the uncertainty of employment forces many to always think about what is next. The rules and regulations are so tilted toward the employer and its shareholders, that who knows what kind of severance these people are getting. Companies should realize they should never expect loyalty; employment now is exclusively transactional...you want more, you pay more. Look how hard these greedy pukes fight work from home policies when companies massively profited during the pandemic and stated how well it functioned. Post-pandemic they have been losing their asses on commercial real estate, so now in person collaboration is critical...eat a bag of Ds.
They are getting 2 months severance!
The economy is doing great, so they should all have new jobs in a week or two. Extra $ in their pockets!

But perfectly normal. Do you know why you have to lock out laid off employees from facilities? Because of people "going postal". It's a perfectly normal procedure. I have seen it myself.
You have to give notice, by law. Im not an employee but educated guess is they will still be “employed” by the company for 60 days even though they are locked out. At the end of the 60 days - theyll get severance which would be at least 90 days and probably something additional depending on length of service. After that when severance runs out they should be eligible for unemployment.

When you design a garbage truck thinking people would continue buying it, you're going to have a bad time.
Termination of a job, breaking up with someone and notification of death really should not be given via text.
i disagree, personally, having been terminated and driving all the way into the office just to be told in person what i could have been told by email and text would have saved me a lot of grief and frustration. i feel sorry for everyone that drove into the office and had to be told in-person just to drive all the way back home -- but only because they wasted the time driving.
at least they are still on payroll for the next 60 days or so. most companies would have just filed with WARN/SEC and then fired you without any prior announcement, you'd have found out at the gate your badge doesn't work and then someone would have explained to you that you have been terminated.
if only employees could be trusted not to retaliate, then you could trust them to be on-site for an announcement. but you can't. most people let their emotions control their actions and then do stupid things like steal, damage property, or worse. i worked at myspace and during layoffs there was a guy that tried to commit suicide by jumping off a suspended walkway.

it's not just that, but also the cost of manufacturing has gone up since we allowed eastern europe to destabilize, allowed china to redirect most raw materials out of the rest of the world, and utterly failed as a nation to manufacture really anything of value which would allow an American company to remain competitive.
this is not the only company to suffer financial woes. i (willingly) exited one of the largest mortgage companies in the country that has laid off 60% of it's professional staff and changed from paying American workers to paying off-shore workers at a 5:1 ratio so that they can stop the financial bleeding (over the course of 3 years.) companies coast to coast are suffering financially, the people who produce nothing but still rely on money for food and rent are therefore also suffering, and they suffer first.
to make matters worse EVs are being targeted with "special fees" in many states, Texas for example added an EV fee recently that effectively triples the annual registration cost of an EV whether you drive it or not. political greed and disregard of public interest, combined with an ignorant public, allows things like this to happen.
i digress; my point is that it's not just about a thing being popular, there are a lot of factors that go into creating negative financial impact for a company.

The company clearly had this planned for months.
Yeah, but they want to keep pumping.
At will state. same thing would happen in CA.
You kinda have to because people will not give a crap about quality or fuck shit up on purpose, i have been involved in layoffs and plant closers
@@squidreuelYeah its not pretty during a buyout either.
@@squidreuelYep 100% true. The majority of workers aren’t like this but those who are have ruined it for everyone else. It’s just not worth the risk especially in manufacturing or with employees who have access to sensitive information.

Yep. Been there and gone through it. It’s a shocker at first. But after 3 times it’s just life. You pick up and move on.
What is it with this new way of firing people???? So inhumane. Oh, but we have to give them 2 weeks' notice when we resign.....?????
You don't have to give any notice of quitting.
Geeees I don’t understand why people making $15/hr
aren’t buying $100,000 trucks . LoL 😂
Maybe the robots 🤖 making $20/hr at McDonald’s
in California can buy them . 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
yet they will continue to receive full pay for at least 60 days as well as a severance package. you can't tell people ahead of time that they are losing their jobs- they sabotage and steal
I never give a notice they don’t give you a notice when they fire you. I either walk out on the shift if I decided to go in or I don’t show up. These jobs don’t care about you.

Well, if you are being laid off the employer probably figures best to lock you outa the property with no notice so you don't have an opportunity to do them harm?
That’s so sleazy, no warning or anything!
But Musk and Muskrats said "Tesla is #1 MOST SUCCESSFUL car company in world". If Tesla were #1 MOST SUCCESSFUL car company in world, then they would be GROWING and HIRING, NOT laying off.
They just did a massive hiring wave , and are back to standard capacity. Nice low iq

They are trying to take him down bc he's an orange man supporter.
Is it me, or is it the ugliest truck ever? That can't help.
Sucks for those workers, No company tells their employee's, you have 2 weeks before we lay you off but you're suppose to give them a 2 week notice if you leave.
It’s a part of working for someone else, it happens, doesn’t matter what company it is.
There were telltale signs of it coming, that’s why you always put money away , live within your means. If they have a 401 or so match do the full % they match and never touch it. So if this ever happens, you can withdraw it with no fine since it’s a layoff, and if they offer a severance package with some companies won’t … take advantage of the package…. And take the opportunity for any benefits / time you have looking for work to find something good.
Best wishes to all, please it’s ok to feel down but get back up , keep going.
You will be just fine, God bless
What a joke
So if not by email then how? You want them to get you to come in person and fire you?
They got two months severance pay according to some random article.
How much severance did you get the last time you were laid off?
Make an UGLY truck that doesn't hold up better than toilet paper? What could possibly go wrong?
you would love it to be cuz of the truck but its not every car maker is laying off people. big tech is laying off people. high interest rates no one want to buy any car. stores are doing mass layoffs its bout to get real bad for everyone.

If they're giving you a WARN Act notice _after_ locking you out, they're obligated* to give you that 60 days of pay. But if you're already off the job, that means Tesla is willing to give 60 days of wages but doesn't trust you enough to not burn down the place in those two months!
