Ma che ne sanno gli americani. Ho sempre apprezzato le opere di Verdi, le trovo vivaci e piacevoli, per non parlare della musica che è sublime. Sono rimasto trasecolato la prima volta che assistii all’opera.
Wonderful.,!! I am drinking Tea, and it is only 4.28am, but i like to get up nice and early, to hear all the great Music, plus time is our most precious commodity.!!
Can I give a shoutout to the lady on the left between the two leaders around 2:38 ? Her acting (making it seem like conversation, with a "gossip" smile) sums up pretty well why this version is the best I could find : the whole scene is alive, with the bottle going around, cheering and the waltz singing... This is the opera I LOVE. Reminds me of Elina Garanca in Carmen. Great artists !
This performance is definitely a monumental work for Venera Gimadieva, who played heroine in the opera, in her career as opera singer. Because she excellently presented her charm of both voice and beauty. 👍👏👏👏
Stunning, absolutely stunning! (Hate to mention this, but, what possessed 45 knuckleheads to give this performance thumbs down?) Update: It's up to 331 knuckleheads....
I cannot hear this aria without thinking of Ray Milland in his signature role of Don Birnham in "The Long Weekend" (1945) for which he won an Oscar for best actor. For those not familiar with the film Ray played a struggling alcoholic author coping with his drinking problem. He goes to the opera to see "La Traviata" and seeing this drinking song sets his thirst off on a long downward spiral.
it's a Octoberfest song or it's 5 o clock some where ,Happy Hour song. well it's time for one more drink before stop commenting takes a sip of Root beer hic up never mine hic up as Yakko Warner would say " Good night every body!" music then a iris out fade out to black (Bay-woop!)

Octoberfest and Red Red Wine, it's 5 o clock some where and Margaritaville together with this song and How dry i am. and with Spike Jones ,Clink,Clink another drink song.
If you haven't already, y'all should listen to Près des remparts de Séville in the French opera Carmen. It can be condensed to "let's go downtown, dance, and get drunk (and f##ck)!", it's great
Violetta Valery , excellent character and was Venera Gimadieva who personified that did very well , super well , I congratulate you. La traviata excellent work and history and Violetta also my favorite and my favorite character, a girl I would call mine Violetta Valery . Greetings, blessings .
The soloists looked like they were enjoying themselves very much performing this aria. One of the best renditions I've ever seen on RUclips.
It certainly helps, that the first woman singer is really beautiful.
So pleased to find this offering ... Michael Fabiano does it superbly❗
Finally, a video for an opera song with actual translated subtitles.
There's so much of that on RUclips, you just have to look for it. (Including on my channel)
All stand for the Italian National Anthem.
Razl Gazl yessir.
Ahahahaha It Is not but It should be.
Everyone knows it's Shaddupa Ya Face by Joe Dolce.
Ok yeah true
Should have been Irish.... ;)
No mere platitudes in my extensive command could praise these avatars of music and beauty adequately. Bravo!
Art deco set and costumes… beautiful
Verdi ahead of his time, he invented the 'Happy Hour', ha ha.
Fay Goodwin 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This should be the most voted comment
no joke hope there are seconds on that happy hour
Oktoberfest and it's 5 o clock's some where Happy Hour.
gets root beer and starts to drink.
Hic-up.
It’s not an “Happy Hour”, it’s a death valzer!
Finally operas played with a natural style and credible decor....Thanks.
Beautiful ! God Bless Italy !
Regards from Reggio Calabria.
the performers are russian and polish lol
This is my favourite version.Brilliant.
Those eyes.. Not only does Venera sing like an angel but she also looks like one.
2:22 un concentré de talent ! Merci messieurs les ténors pour ce bon moment
At his funeral, more than half the population turned up and sung this song. What a send off
One of my favourite arias. The performers can let it all "hang out" and give it their full, having a good time doing it too.
I know nothing about opera, yet somehow this sounds familiar to me and it's exactly what I expected to hear searching for "happy opera".😂

Don't watch the third act then if you like happy!!! But a gorgeous beginning with this song.
Yeah It's familiar to us when we used to play gta 3...
it was on the radio 😭😭😭
In good memories of gta 3
Spoiler: the story is not a happy story. xD

I love those gentlemen in black suits at her behind. They are such powerful and magnificent backdrop.
So good... Verdi's Traviata, just amazing interpretation. :)
Amazing. Thanks for sharing this lovely video.

God! The female singer is incredibly beautiful!
Agree.
So fresh ! I love young and talented productions like this
What an absolute joy of a performance 🙂💛
What a delightful performance!
maravilhoso ! Sensacional ! Belíssimo ! Viva Verdi !
Very good acting! (to go along with the staging and singing). Glyndebourne often finds that extra spark.
Fabulous, thanks Mr Green.
If I could give side eye like that, I'd rule the bloody world.
I’ve begged my wife to look at me like she looks at him.

I agree, Santa Claus.
Happy song. Sad story. Great music. What more do we need ?
Wunderbarer Michael Fabiano !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Magnificent! This clip just sold me a bluray. From amazon, not Glyndebourne direct, since their shipping to the USA is a ball-buster.
That tenor boy has a striking ressemblance with Charlie Cox
the perfect 'happy hour' song! what more could you ask for!
Michael Fabiano is a great tenor and a treat for the eyes. The soprano is also good, better than at ROH. Fine singing.
Either someone should show him how to tie a necktie, or tie it for him. Everyone else was immaculately dressed, so it stood out.
It's a good channel
I went and saw this a couple of weeks ago...god it was amazing!!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice performance !!
Stunning, absolutely stunning! (Hate to mention this, but, what possessed 45 knuckleheads to give this performance thumbs down?)

Shishir Bhandari Neither do i and so do i for many others
The low notes come out effortlessly🔥

Bravo, excelente
Viva Verdi!!!! Viva l' Italia🇮🇹!!!!
I have seen la traviata live and I think it was glyndebourne who did that performance. It was amazing!
Very strong amazing voices wow!!!
And with this song, so many ideas of Painful Stunts were formed being filmed in Slow Motion for people to enjoy even more...
Live this!! Every time, even in
modern dress. 🎉
LOVE this (not live! ).
Superb!
Heh, I don't speak Italian...

What a gorgeous woman...and what a beautiful modern set for this opera
Extraordinarily virtuosic performance, clearly every note and word! Bravo!
easily the most rendition of Brindisi. Amore
Wonderful Performance
Michael is amazing in this Role!
One of my favorite arias from this opera.
Thanks
A favorite aria!
The anthem for alcohol! Alcohol is a blessing for some but this song is something we can all enjoy sober or drunk.
Libiamo, libiamo ne' lieti calici
Che la bellezza infiora
E la fuggevol, fuggevol ora
S'inebri a voluttà
Libiam nei dolci fremiti
Che suscita l'amore
Poiché quell'occhio al core
Onnipossente va
Libiamo, amore, amor fra i calici
Più caldi baci avrà
Ah, libiamo, amor fra calici
Più caldi baci avrà
Tra voi, tra voi saprò dividere
Il tempo mio giocondo
Tutto è follia, follia nel mondo
Ciò che non è piacer
Godiam, fugace e rapido
È il gaudio dell'amore
È un fior che nasce e muore
Né più si può goder
Godiam, c'invita, c'invita un fervido
Accento lusinghier
Ah godiamo, la tazza, la tazza e il cantico
La notte abbella e il riso
In questo, in questo paradiso
Ne scopra il nuovo dì
La vita è nel tripudio
Quando non s'ami ancora
Nol dite a chi l'ignora
Fabulous performance
Amazing
Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
DIVINE PERFORMANCE !!!!!!!!! THANK You FOR THE BIG PLEASURE !!! Your eternal fan Nadya Mirkova from Sofia - Bulgaria
Who is that woman? She is stunning. Worth the price of admission just to see her.
It's russian soprano Venera Gimadieva
... and what stage presence, especially the facial expressions! Those EYES! Her flirtatious mannerisms remind me a little of those portrayed by Jane Seymour in a couple of the scenes in "Somewhere in Time," even though the two of them don't look anything alike.
J. Marshall Bevil de
There's a DVD and Blu-ray of this whole production, so price of admission is reasonable. Strange that Glyndebourne doesn't shout it from the rooftops.
I want her dress and pearls :)
happy new year
This performance is really amazing! Thanks a lot for posting this treasure.
What a delightful rendition of Verdi opera .
