I think my mum felt this after five children. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s at 59 and died at 68. Please, anyone reading this, tell your mum that you love her (and your dad obviously) and still give them your attention even after you’ve left home as they need you more than ever xxx

Very good advice regarding empty nest syndrome. The good news is all that extra time allows us to prepare for what you call our ‘second spring.’

It goes on after 60 the way I have been helped is my dogs have made a big difference if I hadn’t had them it would have been a lot worse
