It’s not karate.
Karate isn’t only power.
They have to come Japan with watching natural karate
if not for the USA, karate would not exist. It was the United States that popularized and modernized karate. although they started with Korean techniques, they simply called it all karate.
for example. Chuck Norris studied Korean martial arts but came to the US and opened a karate school.
this is why American "Karate" sucks

@John Doe More than half of the UFC heavyweight roster is not lean. Force is equal to mass into acceleration and in breaking mass is much more important. It's easier to get mass moving in the direction of gravity. These guys are perfect for the job.

2:29 he misses a board and the guy holding it break's it with his hands and on 2:25 before the guys hits the brick with his hand he lifts the brick in order for him to cut straight to it.This Karate tournament has the basic skills and they are real but the concurents are not that skilled and honed so this is why i think they use this tricks and soft boards in order to not get injured.I can respect that.

Blotto youre right they show off way to much.. i did another japanese m art wich is jiu jitsu and our sensei did not accept this kinda stuff at all.. if you wanna strengthen your body, do it but dont show off (which americans do in every m art not just karate so its not the art, its the "fighter" who does not respect his own art)..

The boards are bought at home depot or lowes and so are the concrete and bricks. Take several boards or bricks, place a flat wooden pencil between them, that is what is used to separate the material. Stack at least 3 or 4 and see what happens. You might find out it is not as easy as you think.

Quite literally, the stupidest crap I've seen in a martial arts competition. All the screaming katas, the unnecessary brick breaking that's more about mass than skill LMAO... you'll NEVER see this in a Japanese competition. Take one 180lbs traditionally-trained shotokan Karate fighter against one of the obese brick breakers, especially the last guy, and it'll be KO in 10 seconds. I would love to see those challenges that were done in Japan and China in which you would challenge a student or master from a different school...
