Thanks for uploading these three videos, I just turned my last paper in as a student at the University of Michigan, and now i'm reminded of one of the many reasons why i came to this school. This game and this university makes me proud not only to be from Michigan but to have an opportunity to go to the school.
@@DarkKirby14LP 23 years later I’m done arguing about who was better. In all reality the B1G is to blame. That Rose Bowl alliance thing was about as dumb as it gets. Everybody wanted NU v PSU in 94, and obviously NU v Michigan in 97.
thats if woodson didnt pick it off too. he had better positioning for it and didnt even bother to put his hand back to check where the reciever was. the only thing he was thinking was getting the ball
@connorqb17 OK, so admittedly I'm a wolverine fan and I was at that game, but if WSU had somehow won after that BS drive that would have been a far bigger travesty. First, there was the obvious offensive pass interference, then the idiot who caught the pass fakes an injury to keep the clock stopped, and finally, why on earth was WSU spiking the ball anyway? Run your final play and throw it to the endzone for crying out loud! Don't try to milk two plays out of 2 seconds. The right team won.
Nice rewritten history there. The rule was changed and a home clock operator was taken completely out of the mix BECAUSE time should have run out in that 2001 game. Nice try, though.
Bob Griese is a class act. Brian did not make a lot of mistakes that year, but Bob was very impartial. I know it was hard to do this game with his pup on the field trying to make plays. Lloyds joke was pretty funny by Lloyd Carr standards...

@@johnmanning4097Our defense would've eaten Scott Frost alive. Don't worry, you can feel how you wanna feel. It may change in an hour, or it may not. Either way, you'll still be wrong.
@Brettwbeyer14 Thats justifying a bad cause, is it no different than a government making a mistake and the people paying for it. Listen, if a ref makes a mistake, he should realize this by trying to better his decision making, not by punishing a team from his mistake, as a fan, I understand that you want to defend your national title, but seriously, that does not justify what the ref did.
Whats that God? yeah I know WSU should've had 1 second left. I know just 1 more play and we would've won one of the biggest games in the schools history.
@connorqb17 that's not the point im trying to make. im not suggesting the ref let the seconds run off the clock to justify his call. fact is if he made the right call in the first place there would be no excuse from you or any other WSU FAN. it;s that simple throw flag=wsu out of game. since michigan won you can't just make an excuse and ignore the other side of the coin. the bad call happened first, and therefoe negates any later attempt to argue about what happened after.
Ridiculously obvious pass interference- Woodson would have probably ended the game right there with an interception. Best thing was Bob Griese losing it at the end after spending the entire season trying to be objective while watching his son play.
Game should have been over when the receiver(Taylor) pushed Woodson(Heisman Trophy Winner) out of the way. He would have intercepted the ball, game over. Was that ref Hochuli? I think it was! LOL. Nice to know refs can still bet on games!
To be fair, it would have been wussy 4th down with the penalty. Offensive interference was the 3rd down play. Regardless if wussy had the ball, should have been inside the 5 yd line, with 9(?) seconds left.
I didn't watch this third part the first time because I figured "hey, they have less than a minute at their own five and they don't score." Glad I watched this. I now understand the reason for the undeserved bitching from people who think we shouldn't have had a share of the NC and I understand that their bitching is indeed undeserved. That missed PI call may just be worse than the awful Cissoko stuff during the 2009 M-Eastern game.
@connorqb17 what's that God? the yes woodson was pushed and the ref was about to throw a flag but didn't he kept it in his hand and decided to keep the WSU in the game. wow. lets just be biased and ignore the obvious pass interference that would negate washington State even having a shot with one second at the end.
To this day, Mike Price tells people that his watch is always a little off because he claims he has a a couple of extra seconds on it. Even though my Cougs lost this one, I can't help but be proud of them for playing the national champs to a standstill and leaving everything on the field.
Washington State fans are funny. You really are just going to ignore that Woodson was camped under the football the previous play until the WSU receiver ran over him?
michigan had the better team and year but its funny how it was 2 seconds seemed like they ran a couple off he was down at 4 or 3. the real travesty was MICHIGAN ST VS MICHIGAN WHERE SPARTY BOB STOPPED THE CLOCK AND GAVE SPARTY FREE PLAY TO WIN AND ROB NAT'L CHAMPIONSHIP OH WELL

in all honesty WSU probably should've had 1 second left, but then again there was that blatant offensive PI that went uncalled 2 plays earlier. poetic justice? i think so
if you look at the hook and lateral play....the unofficial clock that we see didn't even start until the receiver caught the ball. probably 3 seconds had run. The official clock is on the field with the ref. Time definitely ran out.

The best memory of a dad like Bob Griese is watching your son win the national championship.
There was offensive pass interference that ended up getting WSU that far in the first place. Michigan national champs. Way to go Michigan
yup, that's why i don't feel bad even if there should have been 2 seconds for the last play. blatant PI on the WR, and the ref even took the flag out
The TV game clock does not represent the actual game clock accurately. He did not get the spike off in time.
So Woodson almost had two interceptions on this drive. Not bad.
only reason Michigan didn't get the NC outright because it was Osbourne's swan song
That and Nebraska being undefeated with a better team.
