Forsthye wanted less cold and hard. He negotiated it into his contract over the show run. They agreed because they were in a crunch after losing George Peppard who actually negotiate for the same thing, But, the Dynastry production had to get someone. Forsthye didn't want another JR. He wanted someone who was warm....But they got Alexis. So it worked out.
Blake Carrington in Season 1-2 On Dynasty Was Like Ben Cartwright On Bonanza In Seasons 1-2 Both Men Were Cold Hearted But Lorne Greene Had Dortot Change Him To A Kind Of Warmer Person The Shapiros Did The Same For John Forsythe Forsythe Reminds Me Of Lorne Greene Also
I loved this Blake of season one - he was such a fascinating albeit hateful character. Unfortunately, like Fallon, he was watered down to be eclipsed by Tidal Wave Alexis.
John Forsythe was the one who said he didn't want to play a cold blooded villian. After the episode where Blake raped Krystle, he asked that Blake be softened, including never cheating on Krystle. And since he was no longer the main male villian, the writers found another one, Adam
The problem is that we are supposed to be invested in Blake and Krystle's "eternal devotion of love" but THIS Blake is such an repulsive ogre that we wonder why she would stay with him, even with all of his money. We wish all the other characters would get far away from him. That kinda doesn't work when you are "the star."
I think Fallon's progression into a nicer person felt more natural. She was really spoiled and juvenile in the first couple of seaons and so she had to grow up at some point.
@@jonathanwashington6083 I wonder if part of it was Matthew being a competitor for Blake during S1, both in business and for Krystle. They could afford to have Blake be hard and cold in that triangle but, after Matthew was written out, they almost had to soften Blake or the show wouldn't have worked at all. I remember when S2 first aired thinking why did they lose Matthew and keep whiny Claudia??? But the Claudia character became really interesting over time.
Krystal allowed herself to be treated like crap in this scene by both Blake & Fallon....never accept disrespect from others or that’s all you’ll ever get!
I know....it was sad. She deserved to be treated better but didn’t require of it others like she should have. As they say: “we teach others how to treat us.”
Blake Carrington suffered the problem all selfmade people deal with; Superiority. He behaved as if he was "to the manor born". He could not accept flaws or failior in his family. Poor Krystle had no idea what she had signed up for ! 💍😨🍒
Blake was a unbelievably chilling character in season 1. He was so interesting and complex. I wish he stayed that way.

He was intolerable in the first season - made you wonder what Krystle was thinking marrying the grizzled old coot.
amazing scene! S1 Dynasty was a great drama!
Pamela Sue Martin was awesome and so pretty , was not the same after she left . . .
It sucked after Martin left. She was the best actor on this show.
Nothing like being told to sit down lol
This scene literally describes why PSMs Fallon was so incredible.
She was/is the OG!
Agreed!
It was dramatic, though I'm not sure Blake would have uttered some of those words.

Aww the times when 200$ a night was luxurious
Blake was so darn rude to Krystal!
Ah yes. In the early seasons, he treated her like a trophy wife
This is S1 when Blake was just a stones throw away from being a villain.
Agreed. Blake was terrible to Krystle, and Fallon for the first three seasons.
She actually looked afraid of him in this scene.

This Blake would have choked the shit out of Alexis when she first showed up starting her shit.

Krystle left him 3 times. the 2nd time, Blake went to the airport with Joseph to plead with her

@@ninaelsbethgustavsen2131 NO...she didn't.
Sounds like his ego's bruised
Was Blake being a hypocrite, by telling Fallon to make that marriage work, when he didn't make the marriage work with his first wife?
hahah Blake has no second.
Good Part
This Blake carnigton reminds me of how the charcter Malcom foxworth would have been
Was Blake drunk?
No he doesn't. But he see in his daughter too much Alexis
Cute
Blake was hardcore in Season 1! lol
I love fallen and I fill sorry for her what her father talking about. God bless ❤ 🙏
Fallon was so dispectable in the beginning.
she was perfect!!!!!
She was pure gold!
She definitely made things interesting!😊
She was a spoiled, bratty rich Daddy's little girl and PSM played the part perfectly.
👀
At the end she couldn’t stand Jeff. She was not capable of loving a man.
