    Fallon was the bitchy step-daughter, but looking back she ALWAYS gave Krystle great advice about how things work in their world. I remember her doing the same on their wedding day. Fallon schooled her about the prenup agreement and the women coming to see who won Blake. It seemed bitchy to me when I was a child. But as an adult, I would gladly have a "Fallon" around to teach me "the game".

      I think, at the end of the day, she knew Krystle truly loved her father and wanted to help. She just didn't like her until later on.

      I think Fallon recognised her own hand in the game. It seemed like one of the many reasons she was so unhappy when married, as in that sort of conservative wealthy circle, she can be something of a star as a daughter, but once married, she would be considered a supporting character in things.

    that's why PSM was the best Fallon... she cut you down calmly. Here she reminds Krystle that she's still working/middle class and not really part of the family. Blake isn't trying to do something nice for Krystle by buying her clothes (like she thinks) -- he's trying to dress up his trophy wife to make a good impression on investors.

      Most women know this, but some men have yet to learn.
      When a woman buys a new dress, coat, maybe a ring or new earrings, because she knows that when she is on her husband's arm,
      she is a reflection of him, some men appreciate that.
      Other, ignorant men, throw a fit over what the outfit cost!
      To those men: If your wife looks bad, so do you.
      If your wife looks good, other men respect you, admire you, and support you.
      It also doesn't hurt, that other people can also see that YOU treat your wife well, and respect her.

    They cast the right actress to play Fallon. I loved Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew and Susan Shelby in The Poseidon Adventure. I hated the way Fallon treated Krystle because she was actually jealous that in her mind, Krystle was taking Blake away from her. Blake had enough love, if not more for all members of the Carrington clan (except for Alexis)!

    • @fwdthinker
      @fwdthinker 3 года назад +8

      I think it was wearing on her mentally. No one talked about it then but it's talked about more now. Those people on those shows usually work 12-14 hour days at the studio. They often have NO LIVES because if they're not rehearsing or filming the show, they are out promoting it. So it's a LOT more demanding than most people think. A lot of them get older and admit how those shows ruined their relationships/marriages; because the shows took over their lives. Everyone can't handle that lifestyle. But it also explains why some like - like Linda Evans - stayed single and childless.

      That would be the other way around. Evans' husband John Derek left her for Bo while they were all making a film together in Greece. John was 46, Bo 16. They had to stay in Germany until Bo turned 18 to avoid statutory rape charges in the U.S. Linda Evans is grace personified - she wasn't really acting when she played Krystal.

    $300K for one season's wardrobe for someone in a wealthy family. That is probably a conservative number, even for the 80s.
    I wonder if the producers thought that having a more realistic number discussed on the show would cause an outcry from the middle class about how wasteful the wealthy are.
    I can just imagine part of the conversation now: "We don't want the French Revolution to happen in the US!"

    • @ninaelsbethgustavsen2131
      @ninaelsbethgustavsen2131 4 года назад +1

      In the 80's nobody batted an eyelash over that amount of money.
      The whole decade was so unreal, regarding extreme wealth.
      Reflected in tv series like Falcon Crest, Dallas and Dynasty and the spin off The Colby's.
      In the 80's mammon was king, and what everybody secretly hoped for.

    The poors cut back during hard time that's why they are poor !
    Damn , what does she expect the poor to do during hard time, buy a new house and start playing golf ?

    • @benleung6331
      @benleung6331 Год назад

      They can go to Las Vegas and bet on their luck, which most of the poor won’t because it takes a lot of bluffing to win on the table. That’s why Fallon said the rich are different and I think she was right. This is one of the few dialogues in The Dynasty that has real substance in it, instead of just camp.

    • @kachi2782
      @kachi2782 Год назад +1

      @@benleung6331 The rich can gamble because even if they lose they can still maintain a proper lifestyle and won't really suffer the loss. The poor can't gamble because every penny counts and if they lose one then they go hungry or they end up on the street.
      There is zero substance in that dialogue, this like when Karen Walker goes to the laundry mat, look at the drying machine and asks "where are the fishes" then Jack explains to her that people wear clothes wash them dry them and wear them again, and she replies "Well poor people are just plain clever, how come they can't make more money" Now that was hilarious because this was meant to be, but what Fallon said was just patronizing and condescending, and given that this is the poor people audience who made them all rich on dynasty, that was pretty insulting.
      I come from wealth so this should not affect me, but watching this from the perspective of someone wondering how to pay the rent next month or feed the kids, this must hit differently.
      Besides, what she said is not true. During hard times even the rich cut back. The only ones who do not cut back are the super rich, the top 5% but those are not affected by hard times, because they are the ones who create the hard times for others.

  • @kachi2782
    @kachi2782 Год назад

    I got riuch because i always cut back. I never spend more than what i owned and always made sure that i spend no more than one quarter of the remaining of what i earned on things that were not necessary and only after paying the rent and the bills. Only a quarter of what was left after that, never a penny more. That7s how you get rich. Working hard, save up and not spend anything more than you can afford.
    And even today even though i do not have to worry about money, i only spend a quarter of what i earn every month. ( i do not have to think about the bills and rent anymore because i own my houses and i can take care of the bills on interests alone, but i still never spend more than a quarter of what i earn. Because you never know what tomorrow can bring, and when it brings it or if it brings it i want to be able to just relax and quietly look for a solution without being worried of not having a roof over my head of food in my plate. I do have several houses and money saved here and there but those house are only there to be sold when i need it and some bank account which i own i can't even access myself for at least 10 years because i deliberately locked them so nobody can access them except me after extremely litigious paperwork. That's because i am married and am a father and that i didn't make my better half sign any prenup but i also took my precaution and if i die, nobody can access that money for ten years for one account and 25 years for the main account, not even with a court of law. These account are locked for one and two decades. My spouse will have enough money left to eat until finding a proper job for sustainance and for the kids but when that money is gone they are on their own to make a living until they get granted access to the money. And if my spouse remarries during that period or lives with someone in a serious relationship which will be investigated, then the entire money goes to the kids. Unless they go to jail for doing something really stupid in which case the money goes to animal shelters.
    That's how you get rich, and that's how you stay rich.
