If you check out the advice about choosing your major timestamp and make sure whatever schools you apply to have all your possible majors you should be good to go. YAAAAAAY!!! Congratulations!!! I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that! Thank you so much for taking the time to come back & let me know!! I wish him the very best!💙 If you come across other helpful topics, feel free to let me know. I'd be happy to help😊
Hi Janelle! Sounds like a solid start! You might be looking at the chart & thinking you come up a bit below, but like I said it's just the average GPA, so still try & include some backups. For theatre programs check out Brooklyn College, Hunter & City, but note that each college handles admissions to their theatre program differently. For example, Brooklyn has a supplemental application where you can highlight the great things you mentioned above which will give you a boost. On the other hand, Hunter just wants to to apply in general, get in, and then schedule a meeting with a theatre advisor. Sending you good luck!💫
Great information! Can you please talk more about the nursing programs you mentioned. I am currently in a CUNY community college and I am taking a program to become an RN but you touched an interesting topic about being able to take my bachelors and masters online. So I am able to have my job as an RN while still studying to obtain my bachelors and masters.
Hi Jackie🙂 I think I was talking about the RN to BS in Nursing online degree programat CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS). I'll put the link below and there are some info sessions coming up real soon but make sure you talk to your advisor or someone in admissions. Let them know your goals and they can help guide you through. You can even ask if they know about programs with "non-traditional hours." If someone isn't helpful, keep asking until you find someone who is. There are great opportunities out there for you. Check out this page: sps.cuny.edu/academics/undergraduate/bachelor-science-nursing-bs and this page for the master's program: sps.cuny.edu/academics/graduate/master-science-nursing-education
Hi Emily, The priority deadline is Feb 1 EST. BUT CUNY operates on a rolling admission basis- meaning they keep accepting students until they're full. So if you're applying as a general freshman or not to a specialty program ie Macaulay Honors etc you can still apply to be considered. Good luck!🙂
will it be possible to provide some details on admissions to CUNY BS/MD DEGREE PROGRAM ... what they look for in the applicants and how do they evaluate ? thank you so much...
Are members of household simply people who live with you? And do all members of household have to be claimed on taxes? also when looking on the list of required documents for seek it asks for a signed letter from the non-custodial parent indicating how much child support was payed. When it comes to shared parenting or separated under the same household who would be considered the non custodial parent? The one with lower income or the one the claims the child on their taxes or either or. Sorry for all the questions.
Hi Zahara, Yes, I believe members of a household include all the people who live with you. Even though I have some ideas and I'd love to help by answering all your questions, I really don't want to guess the answers to your other questions. You deserve better than that💙. So my best advice would be to tell you that if you contact the financial aid office of the CUNY you're hoping to attend, they can walk you through the process. Good luck!😀 CUNY financial aid offices: www.cuny.edu/financial-aid/information-resources/financial-aid-offices/
Facing some trouble while claiming my CUNY first account...after filling the details in the first page of the new user ...... getting a new tab showing " user not found" ....why is this happening ...? ....i am filling all the details correctly
Hi Vinay, I don't know if you've already figured this out but if you're sure you're putting in the same info as your application (correct capitalization of name, date of birth mm/dd/yyyy including slashes, last 4 of SSN/ or # sent to you in the account claim email) call the helpline 212-997-2869 or admissions@cuny.edu
Hi Shahid, If you were applying for next Spring (Jan-May 2023) the deadline was Sept 15, 2022. Though there might still be room. So I'd call and check if I could still apply since they have rolling admissions. If you're apply for next Fall (Aug-Dec 2023) the deadline will be this Feb 1, 2023 and if you're applying for Spring 2024 (Jan-May 2024) the deadline will be Sept 15, 2023. Good luck!😀
What should I do? When I entered my first and last name in the data where I needed to pay, I entered my father's name, because I thought that I needed to enter the cardholder and now I can't go to the cunyfirst site because it writes that my name does not exist. Please help me
Hi, That must be frustrating. You created your CUNY first account as part of the first few steps, so using your Dad's name for payment shouldn't have affected your account. If you contact the help center at 212-997-CUNY (2869) or admissions@cuny.edu they should be able to help you get it sorted out. Don't worry. Good luck!
Hello please help me Im in kosovo ,an international student and i was wondering :do i really need to mail them the transcripts(send a physical copy of them).why cant i just upload them like the essays? Or can i ? And do i upload toefl in the supporting documents. Because i dont think i can send them by mail since im so close to the deadline
Hi Ardit, Only the deadline for the Spring semester is September 15. Are you applying for the Spring (to start in Jan 2022) or Fall 2022? As far as I can see, official score reports & transcript request forms with attached international transcripts & translations/evaluations always have to be mailed to CUNY/UAPC. I'm all for creative solutions when pressed for time though, so maybe you can call and ask if you can upload with a note that official copies are in the mail.
hi Jordana , so i am applying to CUNY this year as an international student. what i still have question with how do i send my transcript to the school, because i didnt seem to submit any on the application. thank you
Hi Daffa, If you print out the transcript request form from your CUNYFirst account with the top part filled out and give it to your current/past schools, they'll send an official copy of your transcript to CUNY for you. This link will give you all the details: www.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply/#educated-outside
What if I never been to USA and coming for the first time just to study in college do I have a chance to get into ? I mean I haven’t lived there for a year
I wish I had watched this earlier.... awww I have 3.92 out of the 4.0 GPA scale and hold a Computer Network and Security AOS degree. (achieved President's List 4 times in a row) I am planning to transfer to 4-year college but before that, I'd like to take some classes to get more credits for a cheaper price per credit in one of CUNY schools, QCC in Queens. Do you think if it's okay to go as a non-degree student to QCC or do you think I should just pursue transferring to 4-year college right away? I am from a low-income family under the poverty line, also an independent student who is working and study at the moment. I have no SAT score. Should I study for it and take it for transferring to 4-year college although I have gotten 61 college credits? I am an awful test-taker. I have not come out of my place for months ever since the pandemic broke out. I am not sure if I should go take SAT in this current situation which is quite serious. I am very concerned if 4 year colleges would reject my application if I do not have have SAT scores.
Hi! First of all CONGRATULATIONS on all that you've already accomplished Kevin!!!! I have nothing but GREAT news for you: Your current college record speaks for you now. And it says you're a great student.. You don't need to take the SAT as a transfer student (and due to COVID no one needs it). By everything you've told me, it sounds like you're ready to transfer now. AOS degrees are usually meant to get you a job, not necessarily to transfer credits. So it would be good to contact the school and program you're interested in to see if any of your credits will transfer. And if you're from a low-income family, you should definitely fill out the FAFSA. You may be eligible for a PELL grant & fill out the TAP form as you may be eligible for NY state aid. Good luck!😀
Hi there, I did my application but I got an e-mail from the college that I applied to and It was about me having to mail my transcript and diploma to Cuny address which they do not know the address :( They said my application is missing! Would you help me? Which adress should I send ? 😒
Hi, No worries. Print out a copy of the transcript request form (fill out the top) and give it to your school. If you're a freshman have your high school mail an official copy of your transcript to: CUNY/UAPC P.O. Box 350136 Brooklyn, NY 11235. If you're a transfer student, have all your previous schools mail official transcripts to: CUNY/UAPC P.O. Box 350145 Brooklyn, NY 11235. Hope that helps. Good luck!🙂
Hi, The current application is for Spring 2021 and Fall 2021. They're still accepting seats for next Fall but college students are currently finishing up this Spring 2021, so it's closed. If you want next Spring 2022, you'll have to wait for the new application to come out this summer. Good luck!🙂
@@JourneyWithJordana Thank u so much for the response, do u know exactly when the application will come out ? I tried looking it up but I get no answers.
My application payment was error so I did it twice. They deducted twice from my VISA card yet I dont get a CUNY ID to send my high school transcripts as an international student. I emailed them but there's no reply.
Yikes, I'm so sorry that happened. Hopefully, they'll respond soon. You can contact your credit card company and explain the mistake or keep emailing them. Your CUNY ID should be on the printout of your application.
I know this video was from 2020 but I have a few questions. Would a student (out of state) with GPA of 3.31 be a reach for Hunter and Baruch (political science)? Also, when listing activties, does the listing order matter? Lastly, how long after submission can one expect to hear a decision? Thank you.
Hi Amy! The application is still the same😉 Here's the 2021 admission profile: www.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply/academic-profiles / So it looks like an 88 will be a reach but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. Check out the section on balancing your list. For your activities, they'll see all the ones you list; but, in terms of making a strong first impression, it'd probably be best to put your most impressive first. They should start making decisions in February. If you check your CUNYFirst account, they'll keep you updated on the status of your application. Good luck!😀

Hi Ahtisham, I'm sorry about things not working out in Australia. Are you looking to get your bachelor's degree in computer science too? CUNY has that too. You can apply as a transfer student.
Hi Zihan, Try and get your application paid for or fee waiver sent in as soon as you can. Whenever you do, then they'll take a look at your application. Good luck🙂
Hey! This video was very helpful!! I have a question: Can I indefinitely add my essays and can my recommenders add recommendations after I check the box and click submit? If so is December 8(im doing Macaulay) the last time I can go back and add my essays? I want to make sure that I can return back to the application after I submit it because it makes me anxious that I may not be able to lol. Thank you, id appreciate your answer
I'm so glad it helped!😀 Pressing that submit button feels so final, right?!😂Yup, you can upload essays and letters *after* you click submit. Those are parts of your supplemental app, not the main app, so they'll still be open & available for updates. Dec 8th is the deadline for Macaulay Honors so technically that would be the last time to upload; but the counselor in me wants to beg you not to wait. Set a fake deadline a few days before that just to be safe😉 Good luck!😀

Yes, it's pretty similar (GPA, course rigor, extracurriculars, recommendations & essays if applicable) & a few additions- a transcript translated into English & evaluated for equivalency with U.S. standards using one of the CUNY approved companies, copy of diploma, proof of English proficiency (TOEFL/ IELTS/ Pearson/ Duolingo). im applying as a freshman for fall 2022 and they gave me a to do list before my application can be fully completed. i already submitted my cuny app and theyre asking for immunization records and a section asks me to send a transcript from a university. i remember taking a college course for a suny school, so is that university transcript theyre asking for based on the suny school credit that i took?
Hi Jen, That would be my guess. You probably checked the box on your application that asked of you've taken any college classes. To get an official copy of your transcript, contact the registrar at the SUNY College you went to or there's probably an online form for requesting your transcript.🙂
Hello. I'm trying to enroll in Jan 2023 at a community college or a 4year college. I went to university in my country and got a general evaluation that's equivalent to Completion of two years of undergraduate at a regionally-accredited institution of higher education. My question is should I use those credit and apply as a Transfer student or start as a Freshmen with a highschool diploma? I still haven't decided what major I want to study yet. Can you make any suggestions? Thank you so much. 🙏
Hi! CUNY does ask to see all your previous college transcripts. They might even give you credit for some of your classes. So I'd say you should apply as a transfer student. I'm guessing you're hesitant bc you're not sure what you should major in. True, if they gave you 2 years of credits, the pressure to declare a major would be on. But what if the major you decide on includes some of the classes you've already taken? Try spending some time taking some career assessments to see what they suggest, google careers/career paths you're interested in and see if you can even shadow or interview people with jobs that interest you. That way if they take your credits you'll be ready to dive in and declare your major. If they don't, you'll have more time to explore. But start exploring now would be my advice. Let me know how it goes🤗
Hi i am a international student and i dont understand when i have to start the application colllege, im in 10th grade and i graduet in 2023 if i wanna start the college clases in August-September when i supposed to start the college admission?
Hi Jennifer, Great question! If you graduate in 2023 and want to start classes in Aug/Sept 2023, you can send in your applications in the Fall 2022 of senior year. But it's great that you're thinking about this stuff now! You can get a head start and it'll make things a lot easier. Check out parts 1 & 2 of the videos on How to Get Ready to Apply to College/things you can do now: ruclips.net/video/Ca6_h-hv1xw/видео.html Let me know if you need help with anything. Good luck!😀
Hi Damari, Great question... I'm not sure lol but my guess is it'll be August 1st, since that's when most other college applications will be opening up too.
Hi! They will send updates to your CUNYFirst profile but decisions started going out in February on a rolling-basis, meaning as they came in (March 15 for Macaulay). It could take anywhere between 4-6 weeks for them to decide.
I'm an international student from South East Asia and I've applied to Baruch and Hunter, do I have to send a hard copy of my transcript(s) via postal mail to their P.O Box?
Yes, there's a transcript request form you can print out and give to your school so they can include it with your official transcript when they send it out for you to their P.O. box or they can overnight it. It will have your application ID # at the top. If it's not in English, you'll also have to get it translated & evaluated but CUNY lists the places you can have that done for you on the website. Hope that helps🙂
Hiii Jordana Thanks for all of the help. After writing to the school I don't want to attend to decline the admission. It's now showing on my profile but wasn't before
Wow, this must be so annoying for you. I hate to say it again but I think you're going to have to contact them both again. I'd hate for you to lose your spot at the one you want because of this confusion.
Hi Jordana, i sent my transcripts through mail and it had been delivered 5 days ago, but my application status still shows that the transcripts are required. Can you please advise:)
Hi Fouzia! It can take 6-8 weeks after your transcript is received at CUNY/UAPC for processing and for updates to be reflected on your Application Status. I'd say wait a little longer and then if your status doesn't change, give them a call/email🙂
Hello, i am an aspiring international student at CCNY. Do you know if they can accept late admission requirements or will my application be forfeited if I submit a requirement late? Thank you so much
Hi! I'm hoping I'm understanding your question correctly.Your application isn't reviewed until it's complete. It's hard to be late without a deadline but ideally you just want to submit your supporting documents as soon as possible and keep in touch with the student help desk if there's a hold up. CUNY has rolling admissions which means there's no real deadline. They have a priority deadline of Feb 1 to start in the Fall and September for the Spring. But they keep taking students until they are full.
Hi! In general, a 4.0 is about anything from 93-100 (93-96 might be 3.8/3.9), 90-92 is 3.7, 87-89 is 3.3, 83-86 is 3.0, 80-82 is 2.7, 77-79 is 2.3, 73-76 is 2.0, 70-72 is 1.7 etc. It's helpful to know when looking at admissions profiles and seeing where you fit; but, you don't need to worry about making the conversion on her transcript. Colleges know different schools have different grading systems and are able to take that into account. Good luck to your daughter!🙂
I’m interested in getting my bachelors degree but I’m during my hs years I was unmotivated my gpa is a 67. Do I even qualify for any of these since the min I saw was 73
Hi Rafael, No worries, you can start off at a community college and then transfer to a 4-year college to finish your last 2 years getting your bachelor degree. Good luck!🙂
I really need your help I’m an international student actually I’m in China I submitted my CUNY application and also I got CunyFirst. But I do not know how can I send my transcripts, ...? Thanks.
Hi! When you finish your application there's a Transcript Request form in your Application Summary Package. Send it to your achool and ask them to attach your transcript and send it to CUNY/UAPC. In order for it to be officia, it has to come directly from the school. You can check out this site for more info on getting it translated & evaluated: www.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate/apply/#transcripts
I'm sorry, I'm a little unclear on your question but it seems like you're asking about selective service. Men age 26 years or older that have not registered must submit a written request to the Selective Service System, General Counsel’s Office, Washington, D.C. 20435, for an advisory opinion stating why you failed to register. The phone # for selective service is 1-800-621-3308 but if you registered years ago, you're already set- just click "yes." The financial aid office can also help you if there are complications.
Hi! Most community colleges don't require the SAT. But due to COVID many 4-year colleges aren't requiring it either. CUNY won't be looking at SAT scores this year.
Hey, im an american citizen buttttttt ive always lived outside of the US, and now i want to apply to one of these colleges but im confused on whether i have to do an SAT exam, and if yes, how would i be able to? Or do they take transcripts from other country exams?
Hi how is your health. R not tired of working. What kind of documents do I need to apply for Cuny , how much money should I pay to study there for 1 year
Aww thanks for asking. I'm doing well. I love helping people as much as I can❤ Once you complete you application, your CUNYFirst account will list all the documents they need from you. I can't say how much it'll actually cost you specifically because everyone's situation is different.
Hey, thank you so much for this video! I have a few questions; if I got a 90 average but a 3.3 GPA, will they take my GPA and translate it to their grading system? Also, if I apply for Macaulay Honors would I be risking my chance of entry?
Hi, A 90 is about a 3.5😀. I don't think it's so much about them translating your GPA to their grading system, it's more about them looking at the classes you took, the level of those classes and the grades you got. When you apply to Macaulay Honors you get to apply to 6 CUNY campuses in general admissions and you pick 1 Macaulay campus. If you don't get into your choice for Macaulay you can still get accepted at other campuses. Your chances for acceptance won't be hurt at all. I hope I understood your question.
You don't have to do that. Go for it!😀 When you apply to Macaulay at Baruch, you will be considered for multiple programs (Macaulay Honors College, The Baruch Scholar's Program, Dean's Scholars annnd general admission to Baruch College). So applying for Macaulay won't harm your chances of getting into Baruch😀 If you can: attend (in-person/ virtually) an info session for Baruch honors, Macaulay or speak with a Baruch Honors Ambassador to get more info, meet people, and show them you're really interested too😉
Hey, one quick question As an international student for undergrad freshman- can I send my IELTS score after deadline ( September 15 for spring)? Or must need to send before deadline? And is it part of application process? Please let me know Thank you
Hi Tamanna! The IELTS is considered part of your completed application. So you do need it. But the September deadline is only the priority deadline to give you your best chance at getting into your program before it's full & to give you enough time to get everything done for your visa etc. Technically, CUNY has rolling admissions, so they could look at your app Oct- Dec too. So I'd say send in your app with everything you have and then send in your TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or Duolingo scores as soon as possible. You should also contact your campus/program and check with them.
I have gone to college before 3 years prior but I want a fresh start so I applied as a freshman student to bmcc was I suppose to or was I suppose to apply as a transfer applicant. also was I suppose to tell them of my college history or wait until they want me to complete the next step to hand in old college transcripts. when , and what is the next step I haven't received anything back since my application was submitted on the 30th of November it is now Dec, 4th. should I call the school or wait for them to contact me?
Hi! Definitely call them and check your CUNYFirst account. Technically, you're a transfer student. Some programs require you to be a "true freshman" or previously enrolled i.e. SEEK. I get that you want a fresh start and you can *definitely* still have one. Your old GPA won't be carried over. You'll just get credit for approved courses with a "C" or higher without the actual grades. So if you passed those classes, sending in your old transcripts as a transfer student, will save you time and money. Good luck!🙂
Hi! As in international student, which email address should I be sending my transcripts to? I have failed to come across the email id so if someone could help me out I would really appreciate it!
Hi! Good news you don't have to send in your own transcripts🙂 You might have to pay postage, depending on your school's policy; but, they're supposed to send out the transcripts for you after you give them your transcript request form. Your transcripts have to be submitted in a sealed envelope sent directly from the high school/college in order to be considered official. International transcripts also have to be translated & evaluated. There's a list of evaluation services on the website too. Good luck!🙂
@@JourneyWithJordana Thank you for your response!! Is it mandatory to attach a transcript request form along with my transcript? My school has already issued a transcript for me but I just became aware about a transcript request form.
@@Kaunab86 The form helps CUNY connect your incoming transcript with the rest of your application via your code. It also helps establish it as official via the signature/stamp/seal but check your CUNYFirst account and give them a call to see if they accepted it anyway.

Hi! You actually started the process to make a CUNYFirst account when you first started your application. So you're already on your way🙂 Soon after you click submit, you'll get an email with directions about claiming your CUNYFirst account. Hi!, I'm a US citizen currently studying in another country. I studied in the US until 5th grade and then moved away, so I was wondering if I need to take the TOEFL? also, can the letters of recommendation be translated by the teacher that teaches English in my school?
Hi Anthony, According to CUNY "Official translations may be obtained from the following: Consulate or embassy of the country that is issuing the document, Translation agency, Immigrant or refugee association in the U.S. representing the country issuing the document, **The institution where the student studied**
i know this vid is very old but pleasee reply if you see this i was wondering if applying if its too late to apply to cuny schools for fall but i heard some of them are rolling admissions. I didnt know admissions close around feburary so i took my time to get my grades up and now im scared its too late :( could u please let me know if some are still open for admissions?
Hi Abdul, It's not "old." It's the same application😂 But you're right, CUNY has rolling admissions. They continue accepting students until the program starts or is full. Some programs may be full but you can definitely still apply for the Fall.
Your CUNYFirst account will give you updates on your application status and let you know if you need to submit anything else, which colleges you get into and next steps🙂
I'm SO sorry I just saw your question. Yes, you can log in & make changes yourself anytime before you click submit. After that you can call the helpline desk and they can make changes for you.
Hi! I’m from Texas and wanting to apply to CUNY colleges for fall 2022. The GPA averages for each of the CUNY schools is confusing me because Texas universities measure average student GPA on a 4.0 scale. If my Texas high school GPA is 3.85 (out of 4.0) what would that translate to in New York?
@@JourneyWithJordana One more question, since I am coming from Texas I will have to pay out-of state tuition. My parents will only pay for a certain amount of my college though. What would be the most cost effective way to be able to go to college in New York? I know for some scholarships I have to be a New York resident so I'm feeling a little hopeless.
Hi, I'm so sorry I missed your question!!! The transfer application is a separate application from the freshman app. It's pretty similar but will allow you to apply to 4 colleges instead of 6 and you'll need to have all your former schools (HS/college) send your transcripts. If you're coming from another state, is it close like NJ or will you also be looking for housing in NYC?
@@JourneyWithJordana Hi there. Thanks for responding and apologies for my late reply. I’m from Maine but moved to NY late 2019. Have been trying to go back to school, but unsure of which approach to take. Have to work in order to pay bills, but would like to return to school now that I know which major I want to pursue. Planning to attend an virtual open house for more information. Would like to know what my best options are as I would hate to be in a financial dilemma. Making the move to NY, finding a job and getting through the past year with the pandemic was hard enough.
All I'm reading in your comment is good news! If you've been in NYC since 2019, you should be eligible for NYC tuition rates✔ And CUNY is accustomed to working with many students who are balancing work and school✔ I don't know how much of this will apply (I hope so) bc Idk all the specifics of your situation but check out: cuny.edu/academics/current-initiatives/adult-learners-at-cuny/
Hey …what if I’m an international student from the Caribbean but I was born in the states and my college wasn’t accredited for ..will my credits still transfer to CUNY school ?
Hi Dana, Are you sure your college wasn't accredited? Just bc it's not in the US doesn't necessarily mean it's unaccredited. If your college was outside the U.S., your credits will have to be evaluated by the CUNY college you'll go to after you're accepted or by a course-by-course evaluation by an agency before you apply (World Education Services: www.wes.org, Evaluation Service www.evaluationservice.net, Josef Silny & Associates www.jsilny.org or Transcript Research: transcriptresearch.com). If your college really is unaccredited, I found this promising quote from Lehman College, CUNY "Credit for a course at a postsecondary institution not accredited by one of the regionally accrediting bodies, whose description matches that of a similar course offered ... may be granted with departmental approval. Courses from non-accredited institutions that do not have a CUNY equivalent will not transfer." You can also schedule an appointment with an Admissions Counselor through the Admissions Office web page.
Hi,I'm an international student from Nigeria I'll would like to apply to CUNY hopefully to get admission by fall 2023,what do I need to send and how do I start
Hi! You can follow all the same steps in the video except you'll need to send in some additional documents like your evaluated transcript etc. but your CUNYFirst account (created with your application) will have all your steps laid out for you. You'll also need a student visa so check out CUNY's International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS). They have A LOT of the details and resources. www.cuny.edu/academics/academic-programs/international-education/isss/#1484843376030-54d97165-9eb855e6-7695
Hi, That's a great question. From everything I can see, CUNY isn't accepting any SAT/ACT results & seem to assume students would prefer to take the IELTS/TOEFL. SAT scores are not even listed on the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or Duolingo score comparison chrart. You probably should give them a call or email them and ask.
Great video thanks I have a question and i want to know what you think: freshman application and transfer application, which standard a better chance of getting accepted
Thank you!😀 That's a tough question without knowing the specifics of your situation? Did you go to community college & not like your grades? Maybe apply through a 2nd chance program. Did you complete your associates degree or have some credits you want to transfer? Applying as a transfer student would be to your advantage. What's making you eligible to apply as a transfer student but not want to?
@@JourneyWithJordana Thank you for the reply. I got accepted in a university and I just start first semester but CUNY is my dream school, so I'm kinda checking my options if I apply as a freshman im scared my high school results may not be too reliable. I'm thinking if I can just go ahead and finish one session in my university and apply as a transfer student with my year one grades.
I have so many more questions😂 Is the university you got accepted into a 2 year or 4 year? Is your dream CUNY a 2 year or 4 year? How did your high school GPA compare to average GPA of accepted students at that CUNY school? Did I read that you've already started your first semester? How are you doing in those classes? In order to apply as a freshman, are you saying you'd discontinue those classes? Once you complete this semester you're no longer a freshman applicant. You're a transfer student. If you already started and are doing well but CUNY is your dream, maybe contact the school you're interested in and see if they'll accept your credits at the end of the semester and apply as a transfer student with great grades and with some credits already.... unless... the uni you're at is very expensive and you just wanted to wait, I understand that too. CUNY has rolling admissions it's technically not too late to apply. But I just have so many questions for you and there are so many details about your situation I don't know.
@@JourneyWithJordana I got accepted into a 4years course (laboratory science) in my country (Nigeria) my high school GPA is 82.5 So my question now is, freshman application or transfer application (after my first year in the university) what application has higher chances of getting accepted at CUNY.
You're not going to want to hear this and I'm sorry because I know what it's like to want an answer or guarantee. But it's unpredictable. Taking the chance is really up to you. True, your GPA is below most of the 4-year schools but like I said those are averages including honors students, so you might still get in. I'd say it's definitely worth your time to apply. You also said you already started university in Nigeria, my concern would be about those credits transferring so like I said, contact the school and ask about the likelihood of those credits transferring. It seems like the process would be easiest going from H.S. as an international student than transferring as an international student. Of course, if you're planning to get a masters degree, that's another opportunity to apply to CUNY. You may want to speak to someone at the CUNY help desk too 212-997-2869
hey I'm an international student i have submitted my admission application but now they have emailed me to create CUNYfirst id , but the problem is I don't have social security number and I'm unable to proceed further , and second thing what about transcripts ? shall i go to my high school and tell them to mail my documents to CUNY address?
Hi Syed, No worries, if you also didn't give a social security # on your app they should have given you a 4-digit code in the email that told you to claim your account. You can use that. CUNY also has an international transcript request form that you can print out, fill out and bring to your school so that they can send out your transcript. You can have your transcript evaluated by CUNY or use one of their recommended evaluation services. If you call that CUNY # I mentioned or email admissions@cuny.edu and tell them you're an international applicant, they can also connect you with someone who can walk you through the process. Good luck!!🙂
@@JourneyWithJordana thank u so much , i found that email in which CUNY send me 4 digits and now i logged into mu CUNYfirst account, tomorrow I'll go to my high school and give them my documents to mail it to the mentioned address of CUNY for freshman applicants
I wish! But in order for the test score to be "official" they want it directly from the testing center. So you have to go to the IELTS website and request they send your official scores to CUNY/UAPC and/or list their code 2950 when registering for exams.
@@JourneyWithJordanaHello Jordana, for sending my IELTS score to colleges i applied in CUNY i see only these, or i should find every college and send by one by? 1-CUNY Graduate Center 2-CUNY Undergraduate Admission all campuses
Hi! You can apply to six colleges as a freshman and four as a transfer student. If you applied for less than that but you already submitted your application, you'll have to call/email the CUNY welcome center and ask them if they'll let you add more colleges.
Hi Hanri, Yes, if you go to the TOEFL website you can request that your scores be sent to CUNY using their code 2950. Your CUNYFirst account should show when it's received and your apication has been updated. Good luck🙂
@@JourneyWithJordana much much appreciated 💜💜💜 sorry to bother but i have another question... now im having my TOEFL in march. but i might receive my GED in late june due to how the grading system in my country works. my question is, will it be too late to submit my H.S transcript? (i applied to john jay btw)
@@mansken48 Not a bother AT ALL❤ I'm curious- are you using GED & high school diploma interchangeably, because usually most seniors here in the U.S. don't have their diplomas/final transcript until May/June too. You'll have your school send your final transcript once you graduate. Colleges understand that you're still in school and make decisions based on what you have. So if that's the case, then no it won't be too late🙂
@@JourneyWithJordana my bad!! 😂😆 i actually meant to say my high school diploma and not my GED hehe. it was a typo, i don’t even think that GED exists in my country. 😂 well, unlike the US where the school submits official transcripts, in my country the ministry of higher education is the institution that is responsible of submitting official transcripts to colleges. thankkkk you so much for your reply you’re the sweeetest 💜. i was really anxious that they might reject me for submitting late but thanks to you the anxiety is gone now 🥺
I’m an international student and the soccer coach at Lehman reached out to me and decided that he want me to be a part of his team and that I should apply. He said to apply for fall 2022. I’m a bit unsure on what I want to major in. Would it be a problem if I decide to change major if I’m accepted?
Hi Jared, Congratulations! That sounds exciting! Changing majors later shouldn't be a problem unless you're interested in a specialized program that begins as soon as you enter. While you figure out your major, it might help to take core requirement courses that you can you use for most majors. Good luck!
Hi Afrina, Do you mean MS for masters? If so, different graduate programs have different deadlines. International students may have extra components to their applications (ie translated transcripts) but the deadlines are the same.

Hi I have a 2.9 GPa with one AP and two honors aiming for 3.0. But I also have a lot of leadership experience, lots of awards, and focus on theatre.

I am planning to transfer to 4-year college but before that, I'd like to take some classes to get more credits for a cheaper price per credit in one of CUNY schools, QCC in Queens.
Good luck!😀

Good luck!🙂

Yes i want but can plz tell me about fee and intial payments?
An application as a transfer student is $70 and that will allow you to apply to 4 colleges.
I sent in the application, it is showing processing but i did not pay the fee yet. So will that cause a problem? Do i have to pay the fee rightaway?
@@JourneyWithJordana got it i shall make an earlier deadline for myself. I appreciate the in depth response and video more than u think. thanks Jordana!

But when I put in my name and DOB and SSN and click ‘submit’, I am hit with a ‘user not found’ error, but I know for certain that the information I put in is correct. Please help, thank you.
Hi Mohammed, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. That has to be very frustrating. Try emailing & calling the help desk and tell them exactly what you just told me.
international students also part of same evaluation process in line with domestic applicants ? similar general admission high school GPA etc .. I meant same evaluation parameters are being used for International students ?
Yes, it's pretty similar (GPA, course rigor, extracurriculars, recommendations & essays if applicable) & a few additions- a transcript translated into English & evaluated for equivalency with U.S. standards using one of the CUNY approved companies, copy of diploma, proof of English proficiency (TOEFL/ IELTS/ Pearson/ Duolingo). It can take up to 3 months. If you contact the campus international student advisor & they can also walk you through the process & make sure you don't miss anything cuny.edu/academics/international-education/isss/advisors 646-664-8800 🙂

Hi,
how am I supposed to apply to CUNY for Master’s degree? should I apply individually via every University's website?
Hi Shamsun, How exciting! Attend a virtual event & they will help you get started: www.cuny.edu/admissions/graduate-studies/.
Here's info on programs: www.cuny.edu/admissions/graduate-studies/explore/.
Here's the steps to apply: www.cuny.edu/admissions/graduate-studies/prepare/#.
And here's contact info for the graduate programs: www.cuny.edu/admissions/apply-to-cuny/graduate-applicant/

Hi! It's hard for me to answer without seeing the email; but, I'm guessing they want you to "claim your CUNYFirst account," IF you haven't already.Try logging into your account: Go to home.cunyfirst.cuny.edu, on the login page and click new user. Congratulations!!!😄 When you committed did you accept their offer on your CUNYFirst account and submit the deposit to reserve your seat (link in your acceptance email)? If you did, you'll be invited to the New Student Portal sometime in May. If you plan to start taking classes in Aug/Sept through December choose Fall. If you plan to start in Jan/Feb- May choose Spring.
im applying as a freshman for fall 2022 and they gave me a to do list before my application can be fully completed. i already submitted my cuny app and theyre asking for immunization records and a section asks me to send a transcript from a university. i remember taking a college course for a suny school, so is that university transcript theyre asking for based on the suny school credit that i took?
Hi Jen, That would be my guess. You probably checked the box on your application that asked of you've taken any college classes. To get an official copy of your transcript, contact the registrar at the SUNY College you went to or there's probably an online form for requesting your transcript.🙂
After I submitted my application or do I submit my recommendation and transcript?
Yup, you make arrangements to have your school send them in. I just wrote you on the other video with more details😄
How soon can you take the test?
Hi i am a international student and i dont understand when i have to start the application colllege, im in 10th grade and i graduet in 2023 if i wanna start the college clases in August-September when i supposed to start the college admission?
Hi Jennifer, Great question! If you graduate in 2023 and want to start classes in Aug/Sept 2023, you can send in your applications in the Fall 2022 of senior year. But it's great that you're thinking about this stuff now! You can get a head start and it'll make things a lot easier. Hello. How long would it take for a response after your application status says completed and under review?
Hi! They will send updates to your CUNYFirst profile but decisions started going out in February on a rolling-basis, meaning as they came in (March 15 for Macaulay). It could take anywhere between 4-6 weeks for them to decide.
I loved your video. I am very curious about the software you use for your videos.
Thanks! Just Wonderware🤷🏽♀️, nothing fancy😂

GPA is in 4 scale in my daughter school. How to convert them into double digits? Please advise...

I,m 33 year old now :) and should I show the letter of which confirmation letter from selective service?
I'm sorry, I'm a little unclear on your question but it seems like you're asking about selective service. Men age 26 years or older that have not registered must submit a written request to the Selective Service System, General Counsel’s Office, Washington, D.C. 20435, for an advisory opinion stating why you failed to register. The phone # for selective service is 1-800-621-3308 but if you registered years ago, you're already set- just click "yes." The financial aid office can also help you if there are complications.
this video was super helpful !
I was wondering if international students are required to take an Sat to inter a cuny community college ?
Hi! Most community colleges don't require the SAT. But due to COVID many 4-year colleges aren't requiring it either. CUNY won't be looking at SAT scores this year.
@@JourneyWithJordana Will CUNY be accepting SAT Scores next year 2022
Hey, im an american citizen buttttttt ive always lived outside of the US, and now i want to apply to one of these colleges but im confused on whether i have to do an SAT exam, and if yes, how would i be able to?

@@JourneyWithJordana Thanks! So if I really want to get into Baruch for example, should I just apply generally in order to ensure my acceptance?
You don't have to do that. Go for it!😀 When you apply to Macaulay at Baruch, you will be considered for multiple programs (Macaulay Honors College, The Baruch Scholar's Program, Dean's Scholars annnd general admission to Baruch College). So applying for Macaulay won't harm your chances of getting into Baruch😀
If you can: attend (in-person/ virtually) an info session for Baruch honors, Macaulay or speak with a Baruch Honors Ambassador to get more info, meet people, and show them you're really interested too😉
Hey, one quick question
As an international student for undergrad freshman- can I send my IELTS score after deadline ( September 15 for spring)? Or must need to send before deadline? And is it part of application process? Please let me know
Thank you
Good luck!🙂
Hi, how do you apply back to CUNY as a graduate for prerequisite?
Hi, I'm so sorry. I'm unclear on your question.

Any advice for transfer students who plan to apply to a CUNY from a different state?
Hi, I'm so sorry I missed your question!!! The transfer application is a separate application from the freshman app. It's pretty similar but will allow you to apply to 4 colleges instead of 6 and you'll need to have all your former schools (HS/college) send your transcripts. If you're coming from another state, is it close like NJ or will you also be looking for housing in NYC?
@@JourneyWithJordana Hi there. Thanks for responding and apologies for my late reply. I’m from Maine but moved to NY late 2019.
Courses from non-accredited institutions that do not have a CUNY equivalent will not transfer."
You can also schedule an appointment with an Admissions Counselor through the Admissions Office web page.

@@JourneyWithJordana I got accepted into a 4years course (laboratory science) in my country (Nigeria) my high school GPA is 82.5
So my question now is, freshman application or transfer application (after my first year in the university) what application has higher chances of getting accepted at CUNY.
Good luck!!🙂

thank u so much , i found that email in which CUNY send me 4 digits and now i logged into mu CUNYfirst account, tomorrow I'll go to my high school and give them my documents to mail it to the mentioned address of CUNY for freshman applicants
Look at you getting it all done! ✔✔✔ Fabulous!! Good luck!!😀
How do i send my IELTS score to them? Just take a screenshot of the score or? Help me please
I wish! But in order for the test score to be "official" they want it directly from the testing center. So you have to go to the IELTS website and request they send your official scores to CUNY/UAPC and/or list their code 2950 when registering for exams.
@@JourneyWithJordana Same for transcript? I should mail to CUNY mail, right?
Yes, make your transcript official by having your high school send it to CUNY for you.
@@JourneyWithJordanaHello Jordana, for sending my IELTS score to colleges i applied in CUNY i see only these, or i should find every college and send by one by?
1-CUNY Graduate Center
2-CUNY Undergraduate Admission all campuses
So sorry just saw this! Did you send it CUNY Undergraduate Admissions (all campuses)/CUNY UAPC? I hope evrtything worked out for you!
I have submitted my application but now I have to add more college what can I do?
Please reply
Hi! You can apply to six colleges as a freshman and four as a transfer student. If you applied for less than that but you already submitted your application, you'll have to call/email the CUNY welcome center and ask them if they'll let you add more colleges.
as an international student, do i request my TOEFL scores by myself? and how would i know that they have received my scores?
😂 well, unlike the US where the school submits official transcripts, in my country the ministry of higher education is the institution that is responsible of submitting official transcripts to colleges. thankkkk you so much for your reply you’re the sweeetest 💜. i was really anxious that they might reject me for submitting late but thanks to you the anxiety is gone now 🥺
@@mansken48 That's so great!!😄 I wish you all the best!
I’m an international student and the soccer coach at Lehman reached out to me and decided that he want me to be a part of his team and that I should apply. He said to apply for fall 2022. I’m a bit unsure on what I want to major in. Would it be a problem if I decide to change major if I’m accepted?
Hlw! I was planning fo MS. I didn’t understand the deadline thing. For international students what is the deadline to apply for fall
