- hey everyone so here are my 2021 college decision reactions :)) i applied to 23 schools, including 6 ivies (Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Columbia, Yale, and UPenn), Stanford, MIT, UChicago, Rice, Northwestern, and more. i can’t even begin to tell you how relieved i am that the process is over because my stress the past three months 📈📈 and ESPECIALLY the day before ivy day

Don’t stress! If you know how to play the game you can get into any school. I mean, I got into Columbia with a 28 ACT and 3.8 GPA. Just gotta play the game

@@namratathakur161 You don’t need them, however if you do not have a GPA over 3.8, you need to do the SAT/ACT (if you want to get into a prestigious university)

your mom’s reaction made me cry lol. our parents work so hard for so many years, striving for the best for us, and in that moment it all paid off. nothing makes our parents happier than academic achievements (especially immigrant parents, considering a lot of them have never had the opportunity for education). best of wishes on your journey bro. thanks for sharing this video.

Tip; if you are waitlisted and you really want to go to the school, call (do not email) the admissions office. Happened to me. I was waitlisted and I called immediately and they admitted me before we got off the phone. Don't wait around.....they have space for you. Also, after you've been in the work force for 2-3 years no one cares where you went to school or what your GPA was. They care if you can get the job done.

@@robertgutierrez4696 If I remember correctly I just asked questions...like how long the wait list was, when I might hear something, etc. My goal in calling wasn't to actually get them to change their mind. I was seriously calling just to get more information about how the wait list process worked. I think my taking control and calling showed the admissions office I cared and wanted to go there.
It may not work for everyone (and I wouldn't expect Ivy League level schools to do it) but it's worth a try. Don't just give up.

This def is the truth for a lot of decent and average schools, but for the ivies they absolutely do not have space to offer you admission if you’re on the wait list

Keep in mind, 2021 was one of the hardest years to get into colleges while 2020 was one of the easiest (cause a lot of people took gap years). I don’t mean this as a way to downplay anyone who got into where they wanted in 2020, just pointing this out so you don’t feel so bad about the rejections. If you got accepted in 2020, you are more than brilliant enough to be there. Even if you wouldn’t have been accepted another year, the only reason is that there are just so many applicants and so few places. So don’t be hard on yourself either way!
I'm going to be applying for fall of 2022.. is it gonna be as bad as 2021 for us?

The two proudest days in an Asian mother's life, the day your son gets into a Ivy and the day he becomes doctor.
I'm joking obviously, anyone would be proud of getting into Princeton, it takes a lot of hard work. I know when my son got into MIT he didn't sleep for 3 straight and it was probably a feeling of uncontrollable pride I hadn't felt since the day I got my doctorate. I think pride just hits so much harder when it is your children who have made you proud, a different sensation that I just can't describe.
@Katie Ellen Tu I am Asian, what is your point? MIT is actually one of the least racist tops schools out there. Life isn't fair, that is just how it is, In the time that I grew up we couldn't afford to sit there and blame the system, we did everything and anything to get to the top despite everything that was stacked against us. Once you have power you can create change but without it your words will simply land of deaf ears. MIT not only provides you with a decently higher quality of education but more importantly acts as one form of a "ticket" to the networks that are most important in the industries that MIT is most known for research wise. Power is all about who you know, what you can do and what you can make others do.

I'm so glad to see you get excited over being waitlisted. I see so many reaction videos and everyone looks so disappointed and upset and I don't get it unless it was your dream school. If it were me I'd be so happy too! Especially with such difficult schools to get into!

Congrats on Princeton! I got into Columbia and my best friend got into Harvard and we always joke that we feel inferior to Princeton (because on the USNews colleges ranking, Princeton is 1, Harvard is 2, and Columbia is 3). So glad you ended up at the best university in the world 😎😎😎😎

@@von3689 @gigamonsters there are, that’s why you have to take a different route. Let me tell you something that helped me more than anything else. If you see a video or if someone is advertising a program to “get into any school” that is not the way to get into the school. You have to be unique take a unique approach and stand out. I’m not a genius by any means but I could of gotten into any ivy school I wanted!

Since middle school and an obsession with the research from the professors, Princeton has been my dream school. Though I am keeping in mind that the people I'd enjoy most are the kind of people that would accept me. So congrats!! This is awesome!!!

I was pretty bummed when I didn't get into mit or cornell, but ultimately I went to a private uni on a scholarship. I'm now working at my dream company as a bioengineer and couldn't be happier (about %5 hire rate). Sometimes the name of the school doesn't matter, but how you're able to leverage your knowledge and opportunities.

I'm quite late but the algorithm showed me this. It's so cool seeing people's university reactions and the success stories. I was rooting for you to get into Northwestern but I'm of course happy you went to Princeton! I'm UChicago class of '15 and I got my UChicago admission decision while I was in Vienna on a school orchestra trip. I logged into my email on a hotel computer and had to decide whether to check the admissions portal or not, knowing that if I did, the result would either make or break my trip. Safe to say the trip was made!
