@the1gladiator2 Yes sir, Thank you! Thank you for pointing that out about Imola as well. I definitely welcome anyone to correct me or educate me if I'm wrong. Information is always good. 👍
Max led more than twice as many laps than Lewis, more than the rest of the field combined, had the most wins, most podiums, most fastest laps, best average finish, all in spite of worse luck and a worse car. “Robbed” my butt.
Exactly this! I don't know how someone in good faith could argue that after Max led over double the amount of laps as every other driver combined, go onto say that he didn't deserve, or was "gifted" the title. AD was just all the bad luck Max had all season coming back to make things right.
@johnfox1580 Because most people are results fundamentalists that do not care to look at or understand context. Which is fine if you are casual or don’t have the time, but if you are going to claim to be an authority on it, is extremely irritating.
@@PolishEddie92 If Lewis had been comparable with Max on performance throughout the year, even with the better car, I might say there was a case for it, I’m fair. But he wasn’t. It’s similar to how people try to argue that Prost was the “worthy” champion in 1990 even though Senna outled him FIVE HUNDRED & FIFTY-SIX TO ONE-TEN (yes what Senna did in Japan was still wrong), and still had to worry about the championship because he hit a rock at Imola, blew a tire at Mexico, had an engine failure cost him a podium at Jerez, got taken out by a lapped car at Brazil, etc. As you can see, this makes me mad still lol.
It is pretty entertaining, but then when you sit there and actually pay attention to what they say when making a video about it, it gets really depressing and negative. It literally put you in such a weird mood it's no wonder why everybody that's on there is so toxic all the time.
About Silverstone and the red flag: Hamilton caused the red flag. There is no doubt in my mind that it was a deliberate action, because every driver knows that on dirt you don't have enough braking power to make the corner. Hamilton also ended up far outside the apex and almost on the opposite curbs. It was an emergency measure by Hammie because he saw that Verstappen would otherwise win HIS race. But what is even more significant is that Mercedes said that Hamilton would never have made it to the end of the race without the red flag - which he himself caused - because his car was too damaged for that. So they could just repair it. Also significant is that Hamilton once said "that a driver who takes out a competitor should never win the race". The hypocrite!
I don't think Hamilton knew he would win the race after the crash, but I have no doubt he knew he wasn't winning that race if Max got away after lap one. Lewis took a gamble and it hugely paid off.
Lol what a ridiculous take. Lewis 100% caused the crash but to say is was a purposeful murder attempt is outright silly. These conspiracies are crazy. So then jeddah or brazil 21 wasnt also on purpose too? Would those moves, had lewis been crashed out because of those wild moves by max, have changed ur mind? A purposeful crash would mean lewis just plain drove into max’s car with no attempt of turning. But lewis in fact did try to make the corner. Im not saying Lewis is in the clear, he went for the wrong move and ended up taking out max. Also, how easy do you think it is to articulate a move, at that speed, and in copse (of all corners) which can take out your rival without hindering yourself. Lewis obviously had an entire race to go, and no driver would risk ruining the entire race just to get past on lap 1.
Nice overview of the points lost by red flags. Sidenote on Baku, Verstappen lost all due to the suddenly exploding tyre, and Lewis at first won 3 points with the red flag and then threw 18 points away with his magic brake button. But you're correct that Lewis would have finished third with Max in first.
I actually explained what you're saying here, but unfortunately, my segment on Baku got blocked due to copyright. I squeezed in whatever I could get away with but was too lazy to re-do it LOL
Not to mention Max led the most laps by a large amount. He had 3 DNFs to Hamiltons 1 and Hamilton caused Monza and Silverstone by acting like Max wasn’t side by side with him. Other DNF Max had he was leading the race in Baku and yes Lewis lost points in that race too but Max would’ve gained more had he won and Lewis finished behind him. So basically all of Max’s DNFs came from factors out of his control. Mercedes had a faster car for the entire year that was clear. About 1/3 maybe 40% of the races Red Bull were quicker in the hands of Max but rarely did Checo out pace Bottas and many in the paddock at that time saw Checo as a borderline elite talent after 2020 with Racing Point and saw Bottas as simply the lucky guy driving a Merc. The last 4 races Lewis had a much faster car and in formula 1 if your teammate can’t compete or is told to finish behind that means 9 times out of 10 that driver will win those races. Not to say Brazil wasn’t impressive from Lewis but with his car looking back it surely wasn’t what Verstappen did in Brazil this year. Max drove better than Lewis in Jeddah holding him off for so many laps but was almost tainted from F1 memory for the penalties he got from that race that were probably deserved but certainly wasn’t as out of line as what he did to Norris in Mexico where he wasn’t even attempting to make the turn. Still, the general managers poll had Verstappen comfortable ahead of Hamilton from a skill level that year. I think even if Max didn’t win he’d still would’ve won that poll. 2021 really was Max’s season, he led the majority of the season. But Red Bull couldn’t challenge mercs new spicy engine and they didn’t even give poor Max a shot in the last 4 races with an old engine trying to fend off Lewis. I knew he would lose Abu Dhabi even if he was able to pass Lewis in the first lap had Lewis not cut the chicane. Of course he wasn’t even penalized for that despite British announcers saying he’s got to be penalized hasn’t he? So it was unfair and the hype around Lewis being robbed is the biggest joke. Yes he was robbed the last race if you want to dumb it down. But over the course of the season it was Max’s destiny
@ as I said Monza was Hamiltons fault by “acting” like he cleared Max. Max got a 3 place grid penalty for the race after that when they easily could’ve just put it down to an incident on track. Silverstone we all know that was hard racing and if there was blame it would be for Lewis but it was hard racing, Lewis knew that if he was gonna do that it would be risky. Looking at where he places his car in slow motion it clearly was his fault and yes he won and max didnt score any points that day but for me the real problem with that came from the people who celebrated Max’s crash when he went to the hospital and how Sky Sports used the crash for their Christmas ad which in my eyes was demonic from a media corp. He could’ve died from that crash the same way we lost Ayrton so that was a nasty move from them
Oh yeah, definitely. I was mainly sticking to the subject of red flag situations that had an impact on the championship, but yea I think that whole situation in Bahrain was not handled properly and either Hamilton should have been given a Time penalty for going off track so much or Max should not have been told to give that place back. Max completed the overtake before he went over the line. He was already in front of Hamilton, but it is what it is..
I think you were only allowed to update the engine for reliability, and not for more power. With all those engine changes, in the last races it was suddenly a rocket, suspicious.
That was an engine that was on steroids. Why would Mercedes not use an engine that strong from the start? How convenient that the engine popped up from nowhere when he needed the speed.
In 2021 it was the second year all used engines had to be the same spec. The sudden speed of only Hamilton's car didn't come from the engine. The engine was where the aero trickery was hidden behind. No English reporter asked questions, strange.
@@henkormel5610 They could do reliability upgrades, it still seems suspicious to me that Bottas had like 4 new engines in a row suddenly. I think they just tested on Bottas' car how far they could push the engine and when they found out they just gave Hamilton a new engine knowing where the limit was.
@Minifliek If I remember correctly in-seasons upgrades were banned already after 2019. The only-reliability-upgrades-rule came after the official engine freeze in 2022. Before that the whole season was used to develop the best possible engine to start the year with. In 2021 Mercedes had an aero trick that only was used on Lewis's car. This was hidden behind the common knowledge of the Mercedes rocketship engine. That trick made Brasil 2021 possible.

Hamilton also got lucky in Sochi with the rain, otherwise he would not have won that race. Max would've gained more if it wouldn't rain most likely. @tgcdt1193 looks like somebody already beat me to it but you can't say that Max got "lucky" in Spa because instead of getting 7 points more than Lewis, he got 5. If the race had gone forth, obviously Hamilton would get past George, and the best case scenario he would finish 2nd.
