Just went to Caracoles today. Was very happy to see Amadeo still patrolling his trench. Amazing man with great life advice. My spanish fluency is about 75%, but I was still able to understand everything he said, even if I didn't understand everything he said haha. Amazing man.

We just went to Amadeo's place. So far it was the best. We also tried the salt cod fritter place, our 2nd favorite. Amadeo is such a sweet man, brings it to another level. However, the snails were incredible. Thanks for sharing this info.

Alfonso, United has flights from Newark to Madrid for $275. From Central PA, you can take the train right to the airport and costs less than parking

I used to live within walking distance of el Rastro which was in my neighbourhood. I loved going to Los Caracoles for lunch the best tapas. I remember the friendly owner Antonio and his "salsa de la vida de chorizo" I remember him shouting orders to the staff. He was on the ball. I wonder if he is still working there?

Hi there! Casa Amadeo (the snail place) is but the sardine place closes on Mondays. Anyway, I'm going to Madrid end of April. I wonder, is it a bad idea to visit these bars on another day than Sunday? Crowded is nice, but sometimes it is a bit too difficult to order.
Hello James. Is the el rasto restaurants only open on sundays as well? We dont care so much about the fleemarket but want to do a foodwalk around el rasto. Have been trying to find this info online but cant find it.
Hi Niclas - the bars in the Rastro open on other days as well! Sometimes bars in Madrid close on Mondays or on Sunday nights though - so just be aware of that. They're most fun on Sundays though.
I was introduced to a a tapas bar near el rastto too, they sold only gambas. And the skin/shell were dropped on the floor too. It was delicious! I forgot its name, anybody knows?

I just commented on your channel about you doing a video about the Rastro. I was thinking you might have already done one in the past. The video looks like you really pulled it out of the archives. You look like you're 18yrs old in the video.
The video showed the other thing I remember about going into all the bars in Spain. Being told from the beginning, don't put your trash on top of the bar! Throw it on the floor dammit! Someone will come along with a broom and sweep it up. Eventually. Thanks James.

Worst travel show i've ever seen
Spanish food is overrated. A bit like the emperor's new clothes, waiting for people to call it out
Gotta say that the Santurce bar it's the most disgusting place in Madrid. Watch the the grill, do you really wanna eat foot cooked in there? I recommend that if you go to El Rastro just go into the bar and check it out for a couple of minutes. The dirt is all around, the waiters are dirty as well and the last surprise is the cooker's outfit, greasiness definition. Gotta mention that as their popularity has risen in the last years, their prices have risen too and they are waaaaaayyy above what you should pay. There's plenty of places around La Latina and Lavapiés which deserve to be visited, but not this one.
