I came to realize after hearing and watching Jonathan play that if I would have been a better student during my organ studies anything I have to offer would be "chop sticks" compared to Jonathan's simplest compositions. I remain in total awe every time I visit him on You-Tube.
My dads favourite "Adagio", was played at his funeral in Durham Cathedral, this bought a tear to my eye.... Thank you for an exemplary performance
A piece of Bach genius played as near to perfection as I'll ever hear. Jonathan, you are brilliant - as simple as that.
I'm just glad that I'm alive to hear and watch the greatest organist I've ever heard or seen perform. I only hope that Jonathan will bring his talent to the United States so I can hear and see him in person.
Couldn't agree more!! How are you, by the way?
Yes please come to Colorado!!!
I've been saying England is on my bucket list just to hear Jonathon play one of these magnificent organs but it appears unlikely that will happen with the sad affair of the world and covid. I believe he has played in Pennsylvania before and hope he returns. I'll be there!!
Good music is one of the hopes for improving the world. Thanks, Jonathan. 🥰🎼🎹
Nobody-NOBODY- plays these wonderful pieces by Bach like Jonathan. Not only with thrilling virtuosity, but with absolute, uplifting joy as well! Thanks inadequate, as usual!
Listen to Peter Hurford
Beautifully articulated, and German style: toes only on the pedals!
Visually: superb as well - hats off to MrJonathan and Dr Tom Scott!
*Es war hervorragend!*
A masterly performance by the master of the organ. Bravo!
The Scott brothers of the organ much cooler than the HGTV Scott brothers.
I am in awe! Such talent in both brothers. What a blessing.
Brilliant! My favourite Bach organ composition. Thank you.
I love this work! Just over fifty years ago I heard the Philadelphia Orchestra perform the Stokowski transcription.
I always enjoy a great playing of the fugue.
... and so yet another masterclass in musicality, technique, posture etc., etc. That hall is so unforgiving, but allows for awesome tempi. Loved it 👏👏👍
Impressively well played. Agile pedal solo in the tocatta, with much musical maturity expressed in the adagio. Crisp articulation helps breathe rhythmic life into the fugue.
I've only been listening to organ pieces for a few weeks now but have learned so much from Jonathan and others. Amazing that some organs have 10s of thousands of pipes and that the organ is over two-thousand years old. I grew up playing trumpet and trombone and then drums in the fife and drum corps. The one thing I loved was the booming sound and power of those collective drums. That is what got me into guitar and eventually electric guitar. I've always loved a good raucous sound. Now I've found the ultimate instrument, the organ that gives that same massive sound. So glad I ran into the Scott brothers. I've just begun the trip and it's a blast. Kudos!
Absolutely great! Well played Jonathan!😁👍👏👏👏👏👏
As good as it gets! Thank you for an amazing performance.
A wonderful performance. Thanks Jonathan, and also Tom for the film and sound.
My very favorite Bach organ fugue. Jon played it with unmatched command, flair and feeling. Truly a sight and sound to behold thanks to Tom’s artful and sensitive videography. God’s best to you both.
*Jonathan, thank you for another beautiful concert 👍🏻👏🏻! The music is unmistakably Bach.*
My favorite fugue, played with consummate skill and made all the more moving by spectacular visuals. You two provide a feast for both ears and eyes, uplifting my soul. Sincere thanks.
A magnificent performance of a magnificent composition on a magnificent instrument. Thank you, Scott brothers!
Just brilliant. More Bach please Johnathan. Believe it or not I am only just beginning to appreciate him.
If you talk of great composers there's Bach.....and the rest.
SO BRILLANT IN INTERPRETATION AS IN TRANSCRIPTION !!! THANKS A LOT TOM AND JONATHAN

How Exciting!!!!!
Truly Thanks again!!!!
Greetings.
Bravo! Bravíssimo! Um grande abraço daqui de Curitiba, Brasil! Muito obrigado por tão mágica interpretação!
Great music and fantastic musician !
Thank you for sharing the organ and Bach with the You Tube world.
absolutely brilliant as usual!
Loved this rendition. I just watched your performance at the Proms. How exciting. Good job. (as usual) .
Good playing, Jonathan, beatiful!
Exquisitely clean and beautiful performance!
Lovely pace and playing. Fugue is superb.
Fabulosa interpretacion. Como habitualmente sucede
Beautiful 🤩
I’ve found and enjoyed this fugue played by many talented organists on RUclips, but none surpasses the master of the organ, J. Scott. Bravo and thank you two extraordinary brothers.
Outstanding performance, Jonathan! Happy New Year! Will Ortiz
The depth of Bach‘s musical solemnity Ìs immeasurable, and beyond description, and unfathomable
I love your performance!
Good to hear an organ this big that still sounds clean.
There's an older performance of this on another instrument, and I can't decide which one I like more - I always end up listening to both back to back. Fantastic!
His performance with incomparable skill and exquisite technique is beyond description , and full of admiration , acclaim and deep emotion
This sound is the cradle melody gently cradled by God
Excelente
Nice to see the real console.
Nice :)
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much, Jonathan. May I know if you have been inspired by Helmut Walcha?
That fugue! Oh my God!
❤️❤️❤️
Would love to hear his interpretation of Bach's "Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor" BWV 582.
Beautiful! But I am curious.... When Jonathan is dreaming in his sleep does his feet bob and weave like he's playing the organ? Just curious....
The pedal solo is wonderfully articulated and projected. The camera view from the toe stud perspective on the right side is very innovative. The hall acoustic is very dry, I think the overall articulation could be a little more legato.
Hello, I would be interested in how many cameras do you record the videos with?
expecially in Toccata
The Adagio is used to strange effect in the old movie, "The Black Cat."
I remember that. Boris Karloff's servant played it as his master's followers entered for the black mass. Watched it on TV with an older brother. One of the first times I heard Bach. Of course it was many years before I knew it was Bach, let alone what piece. Ah, memories. From Chicago, U.S.A.
I'm confused, the setup here is completely different to the setup in toccata & fugue in D minor from March 2013. In the earlier video it's a completely different keyboard console that's sat all on it's own in the middle of a stage. What's going on?
The organ has two consoles - a mobile digital one and a fully mechanical one and this is taken from a recent concert (May 2021 program of all Bach music) this time using the mechanical console. If you watch the upload of the recent concert Jonathan explains why he chose to perform using that console. (starting at 7.50)
Wow, very impressive. The Fugue is to my taste a bit fast, not allowing the sophisticated twists and turns to be audible to well.
A fantastic organist but this really has absolutely no likeness to a traditional Bach registration for one of his larger pieces. That actually sounds like a 32ft bombard or a contre bombard at the start of the Toccata and it’s really not nice at all
There are plenty of purists like you who want to listen to, and many who play Bach as you imagine he did with the now historic organs avail to him of the day but then many more of us like hearing his work interpreted for another era and yes we love a 32" bombarde.
It's the same with hearing Bach's keyboard works on a modern piano which many great virtuoso pianists do and I for one love them - but Bach never saw such an instrument and wrote for harpsichord.
I just sent you 48 pounds
often he runs too fast so we lose the singing of contrapuntus
Mics too close to organ. Pedal overpowered other divisions in many parts and resonance of organ in the hall lost.
OK. You may score one point here.
But just one...
