  • Yakymenko was a Ukrainian composer, taught under Rimsky Korsakov. One certainly hears his teacher's harmonic influence in this simply gorgeous work. The piece is nothing more than a refrain stated twice, with a very haunting coda. But it contains some truly bizarre and deeply sensual modulations that words cannot describe.
I am sure that in a few years, I will be embarrassed by this very unimpactful video, but I simply wanted to make the world aware of Ukrainian art during this horrible time.

From another video on one of C. Boissier's channels, I gather that the conductor is Ihor Blazhkov but would you know which orchestra is playing? Is it the "Perpetuum Mobile" chamber orchestra of Lviv?
