Today being Puccini's death exact centenary (November 29.th, 1924 - Nov. 29.th, 2024) I have listened to "Madama Butterfly", which might be my all-time favorite opera. If there's some tragic grandiousness into an opera heroine, Cho-Cho-San is the epythome of it: a teen girl which finds herself in the crossfire between her native country's traditions and a foreign superpower's imperialistic interests, and has to pay the ultimate price for it barely having became anagraphically an adult. Also admirable the effort to faithfully represent traditional Japanese culture and norms, for whose Puccini made Japanese ambassadors in Italy his advisors.

What's peculiar about the march is the unique mixture of gallantry and puerility.

Two pieces here in E-major, a key Mozart rarely used (as far as I know): 'Placido è il mar' and 'Zeffiretti, lusinghieri' - equally beautiful and both concerning weather elements (a calm sea, 'soave zeffiri', gentle breezes). He also used E-major in other instances where beautiful weather, sweet breezes and/or calm waves play a role: 'O selige Wonne!', the closing terzetto from act 1 of Zaide and of course 'Soave sia il vento' from Cosi fan tutte.

May I express my grateful appreciation of the educational notes in the description box? I learned quite a few things from those notes which I had never known before. Oh, and the music is simply sublime!

The organ should be a portable small one cause it´s chamber music. But this organist chose a big church organ which overpowers the other instruments. So this is not a good transparent recording.
