I think the horizontal strip rule can be tossed if the garment fits well or you wear something over it. It's a classic print when only two colors are used
I really don't like those boxy, over sized jackets. Looks like a kid doing dress ups with Dad's blazer. Maybe I'm just too short to wear them. Love how you dost waste time with loads a preamble but just get down to the nitty gritty. Thanks for another great video.
Hi Gill, I totally get where you're coming from regarding the boxy, oversized jackets-they definitely aren't for everyone and can be a bit tricky to style, especially if you're on the shorter side. It's all about finding what works best for your body type and makes you feel confident! I'm glad to hear you appreciate the straightforward approach in my videos; I aim to provide valuable information without any fluff. Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 😍
I feel the horizontal stripes on top (never the bottom) are flattering as long as the stripes are thin and only in 2 colors. I also think fitted turtlenecks and mocks are slimming but not if they are billowy at the trunk.
Hi Jean, Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you find my content trustworthy and enjoyable. It means the world to me to have your support, and I'm here to help anytime you need it! 🤩
Nancy, you are always beautiful! I love the advice and tips you show us and I have admired you since day one of your You tube chanel. I battle weight gain at times and it's not easy, but for me my biggest motivator is weight loss ( I am gung-ho the first week of my healthy eating, then it's easy to fall back in my bad habits. So I tell myself, wait until the next meal, go for a walk and it changes my mind. I have kept 10 lbs off for a few yrs now. I do not want to go back to my previous weight as it's not easy to lose, so when I am up any more than 2 lbs, I eat much less. I do walk an hour every morning with my dog as part of my daily routine and never sit in one place for more than 15 mins. You are an inspiration to me and many others. TY for all you do.
You go girl! Your health and fitness is so important. You are a priority and “important life stuff” can derail us. You have inspired me to keep going❤️🇨🇦❤️
I really appreciate your videos. I'm short, and while I had lost weight, I managed to regain some of it. Disappointed in myself and I'm working on losing it again. I felt SO GOOD when I was slimmer. Your advice is so spot on. And you always look fab!
I very much enjoy your vlogs because your advice is alway so well considered and thoughtfully expressed. I especially like the list of content you provide as it makes it easier to think about what I just heard. Like you I lost quite a bit of weight last year but have started to put it on again so I am very tempted to try out the copilot!
Fashion designers don't create clothing for the average woman. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of options when shopping in retail stores. I look for clothing in thrift stores that are more classic and affordable. Have been able to find pure wool, high end blazers and edgy tops there. Have a Gabes discount store in my area where I can get good pants. On a budget, I need the biggest bang for my SS bucks.
Hi Katrina, You bring up such an important point about the challenges of finding fashion that suits the average woman in retail stores. It's fantastic that you've turned to thrift stores for more classic and unique finds - it's amazing what treasures you can uncover there, especially high-quality items like wool blazers. Also, making the most of discount stores like Gabes for essentials is a smart move. Staying stylish on a budget certainly requires creativity, and it sounds like you have a great strategy. Thanks for sharing your approach; it's inspiring for anyone looking to maximize their budget in fashion! 🥰
You are beautiful always 🥰 You & your videos always brighten my days. CoPilot sounds great, thanks for sharing! Thank you for your realistic, honest and helpful content! LOVE your leggings with pop of pink top! Remember that YOU ROCK! I'd love to see the pieces in your rack of black clothes that many of us are transitioning into for Fall!
I bought some mock neck sweaters. I’m going to have to turn those down like a turtleneck. They come up way too high on me. I normally don’t even wear turtlenecks because they bother me. I thought I might be able to handle the mock necks. But I’m not sure I can. I’ll wear a long necklace or something with them. If I wear them at all. I do have vertical striped shirts. And I do like them. But I like to wear v necks the best.
Pinstriped suiting is in. Also, Ralph Lauren always makes striped shirts. His cheaper line, Chaps, does too, but you have to size up. Some dept. stores carry it.
Hi Karin, Vertical lines aren't just stripes in garments. You can create vertical lines in lots of ways such as a longer necklace, an open cardigan with a contrasting or lighter top underneath, and long scarves. I hope this helps clarify for you! 😍
Hi Mikki, It sounds like you have a very clear sense of what you like and what you don't, which is great! Mary Janes and certain prints and styles definitely aren't for everyone, and it’s all about finding what makes you feel fabulous. I'm glad you're staying true to your personal style, and I hope you continue to find inspiration in my videos that align with your taste! 🥰
So, horizontal stripes are far more “flattering” than vertical stripes. A quick google of this would have changed your perspective and stopped you from passing along false, albeit much believed, information. 🤷♀️ I agree with the other things to an extent. Styling is everything regardless of your body size, height and shape.
I’ve seen that research also - various studies that used two dimensional images looking slimmer in horizontal stripes and wider in vertical. I’ve also seen where it has been put to the test on three dimensional images - actual people - and the horizontal stripes did indeed add width. 🤷🏻♀️ I suspect stripe width also factors in. It boils down to giving it a try and figure out for yourself if you like what you see in the mirror.

I agree
Great point, Mimzy! 🥰
I love the look of horizontal stripes on others but it never feels flattering when I wear them. Great video
Thanks so much, Jean! 💕

Thanks for sharing your fashion faves. I agree with you on turtlenecks and mocks being slimming if they aren't too billowy in the bodice.🤩
Thanks for helping me. I find you trustworthy and fun to listen to.

I’m glad you mentioned an exception to the dropped waist style, because it really works for me!
Same!! I am always on the hunt for them…short torso+inverted triangle 🤪
That's great to hear! 💕

Can you do a video on fit? Sometimes it's not easy to know if a garment fits well. Thanks!
Hi Leah, That's a great idea! Adding it to my video to-do list! 🥰
Very interesting, and I enjoyed.

A little difficult to find vertical lines, I' m afraid😮, thanks for the video

❤ well wishes as you continue on with your health journey...you are always looking gorgeous 🌹
The shirt you are wearing is flattering on you 👍
Amazing ❤❤
Thank you so much! 💕
The maryjane shoe so popular is just awful! I avoid prints, stripes and boho looks...Frumpy!
