@@shoppingonchampagne Yes, please do some videos on tips and tricks for short legs, petite dressing. I am about to turn 74 and have always been short but now it's getting ridiculous - gravity happens.😁🙄
I really appreciate your help with this….shoulders-41”, bust-37”, waist-32”, hips-37”. I always thought that I’m an Apple, gaining any weight first in my stomach, but since menopause, most of the weight has gone below my belly button, which I believe adds to my hip size. I’m lost! Thank you for your expertise.
Nancy, such a good and helpful video! I have been doing my measurements all wrong. Also my measurements are identical to yours. ( I thought I was an apple, but I'm a rectangle!) Also, please do a video on each particular body shape and how to dress in the most flattering way. Thank you for all you do.
My measurements are 44.5, 42, 36, 42.5. I’ve always thought I was an apple (definitely gain more weight in midsection). Can you confirm if I’m apple or rectangular. Love to see videos dressing each style with links for women over 50. So many videos of this type have links for much younger age/styles.
I consider myself an hourglass, even though my hips are bigger than my bust. Shoulders 40" Bust 38" Waist 29" Hips 40" I know a lot of people think you have to be very busty to be an hourglass, but because I have broad shoulders, there is no other category that works. If I don't use waist emphasis in my outfits, I can look like a long rectangle. Your videos are very enjoyable! I like that you keep things fun! :)
I would say you are an hourglass like myself; my width is in my bust, my shoulders not so wide, but they ctually read as wide, because there is width in my top half. I was told by a stylist once (had my colours done) that its the visual effects that often mean more than the actual measurements. If your shoulders and hips are the same, and bust only slightly smaller, I would say you are an hourglass. Like you, I look like an strange extended rectangle if I don't emphasise the waist - we have one, so lets flaunt it!
I love this topic. I'm a pear and have followed these rules for years and have saved so much money since I figured it out. I also have a cool skin tone so never waste money on warm colored clothing either. Great video!
I’m 42.5, 42.5, 36.5 and 42.5. Seems rectangular like you! But my weight has increased in my tummy since menopause. I am definitely interested in individual videos for each type.

Hi Jane, I recommend going to one of your favorite shops and trying on clothes suited for a rectangle, pear, or apple shape and seeing which outfits suit you the best.
Great advice! I inherited my mothers hourglass figure, with waist 12" smaller than hips and bust, whatever weight I put on or off. AS I'm now 68 and living in the countryside, I find it difficult to get the right clothes. When younger, yes, went for figure skimming, (figure hugging made we feel I should be plying my trade on the street corner!). I totally agree about the streamlined cleans lines, how discovered that over time. I live in casual/smart seperates, as dresses are difficult, always the waist is too big, as well as shoulders (need one to two sizes smaller than hips and bust). Would love some help with choosing styles; despite what people often think, this is not an easy shape to dress - but then I am sure there are problems with every shape in reality.
Hi Dympna, It looks like you are a rectangle leaning to an inverted triangle shape. Keep the focus on accenting the waist and creating angles in the body. I'll be doing video in each body type so keep an eye out! 😍
I'm a 73 year old woman who has just retired. I am in the process of losing weight and am down 40 pounds so far. That's about half way to my goal. You have done such a great job describing how to measure, sharing your own, and depicting the various styles. Thank you. My measurements are Sh:44, B;41,W:34, H:40. Thank you!
Hi Robin, I would classify your body type as an inverted triangle leaning slightly to a rectangle body shape. You're going to want to focus on adding detail to your bottom half and keep thing sleek and minimal toward the top. You can also add details to help define the waistline. 😍

Hi Darlene, I agree with you! I think you're an Apple body shape and I will be doing videos on that topic. In the meantime, balance your figure by drawing attention to your hips including peplums, a-line skirts, or tops with accents at the hip. 😍
Based on your measurements, it sounds like you are an inverted triangle. This shape is characterized by shoulders that are broader than the hips and waist. Here are some styling tips for your body shape: 1. Balance Your Silhouette: To create a more balanced look, try styles that add more volume to your hips. A-line skirts or wide-leg pants can work beautifully to achieve this effect. 2. Highlight Your Waist: Fitted pieces that highlight your waist can be flattering. Think belted dresses and tailored jackets. 3. Soft Textures and Drapes: Soft textures and draping can soften the shoulder line, so you might enjoy trying tops and dresses with these features. 4. Emphasize Your Legs: Since your legs are a slimmer part of your frame, you can draw attention here with fun prints and colors.
I have a problem because I was a pear shape all my life and wore belts because my waist was so small. About 10 to 12 years ago they put me on a lot of steroids and I went through several rounds of cancer meds and my body changed. I still have the appearance of a pear but I now have this large stomach starting right under my breasts and going down right below my waist and I'm having a terrible time dressing. I was so comfortable until I was close to 70 years old dressing a pear shape and now it doesn't work for me. What would you suggest
Hi Diane, I understand your struggle! 🥰Let's focus on your favorite body parts and draw the eye away from the tummy. This video should help you quite a bit: ruclips.net/video/ue61Rx-Q5S0/видео.html
Hi Tangy! You are an hourglass leaning towards a pear. Focus on keeping clothes smooth and sleek. If you want to add attention anywhere on the body, always focus on the shoulders. 🥰 MISS YOU!
Thank you, Nancy. I just recently had double mastectomy and I'm not going to have reconstruction. I do plan to wear a smallish prosthesis..but what would your suggestions be for measuring? I have a pear shape body. Thank you!
Hi. Thank you. Very easy to understand. How about short torso and long torso. I'd like to see the combination of this with the body shapes. And which part should be dressed in a darker color or in a bright color or stripes and prints mixed with a plain (?dark?) color? Thank you.☀️

My measurements are shoulders 40, bust 41, waist 36, hips 45. That seems like a pear body shape to me but doesn’t take into account my very large post-menopausal tummy - the area under my waist, where most of my weight goes when I gain. I would love to see a video for dressing a pear shape with a large tummy. Thanks you for such informational and interesting videos!
Hi Nancy. What a great video! I’ve always been confused about my shape because I am 5’ tall (perhaps height doesn’t matter) … but here are my measurements: 40-35-30-1/2-36. Is that an hourglass? Thanks I’m advance!!
I am almost exactly the same measurements as you including height. I will see the response you get. I struggle trying to find clothes that fit and flatter me!
Hi Lowey, based on your height and measurements, you are an inverted triangle leaning towards an hourglass. That means you don't want to do anything to add volume to your shoulders. Focus on clean, smooth silhouettes that focus on your figure and accent your waist.
This was a very helpful video. Thank you for including the shoulder measurements! It's so logical that they should be included yet, they are so often ignored. Now....where is my tape measure? I must measure them.
So, I'm not close to 50, but I did enjoy your video! I'm coming in at 5'4" 170lb S:42.5, B: 40.5, W:33, H:42.5 Always considered myself an hourglass 🤷♀️
I'm a bit confused. I suit hourglass looks overall (your descriptions) Shoulders 40, bust 41.5, waist 37, hips 45 what do you think? (2 stone overweight)
Hi Laura, It sounds like you have a lovely figure! Since your hips are the largest measurement, I'd say you are a pear shape. Focus on drawing the eye upwards to your face, shoulders, and neckline. I'll be doing a video on your body shape in the near future! 😍
Thank-you! My bottom is all out the back! I will check out clothes for pear. My figure currently resembles a cartoon mom boobs out the front and bottom out the back!
Thank you I enjoyed this topic what do you think I'm a plus-size gal now after menopause and gaining weight in my midsection. large lower tummy, my measurements are Shoulders 51" Bust 47" under the Bust 38", Waist 41," Hips 52" near crotch and 57" full tummy Any information you can give me to know my body type, I'm now would be helpful thank you.
I am 5'2", my measurements are 40,35,30,40. I have a terrible time finding clothes that feel good. Not sure what my body type is. Would appreciate your advice! Thank you
I just recently came upon your videos. 😊 My problem is this: measurements 47, 43 1/2, 36 1/2, 43 1/2, which I guess is like you, rectangular. But part of the problem/reason for that is my left sided thoracolumbar scoliosis, which gives me a hump on the left side of my back, and causes one side of my waist (the left side where the hump is) to have no curve at all, the other side over compensates. Without the hump, the waist measurement would be smaller. It is both unsightly and painful. So would you suggest the same clothing style for rectangle? Would it 'disguise' the hump? I practically live in leggings and loose-fitting t-shirts because of the hump, and I suspect I'm wearing poorly fitting clothing for the same reason. I'm so tired of looking frumpy and shapeless as result.😢 So, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Hi Nancy! Thank you for the video. My measurements are: Shoulders- 43, Bust- 37, Waist- 31, Hips- 40. Does this qualify me as a rectangle? Thank you for all your help!
Hi Cynthia, based on your measurements, I'd say you're a pear shape. Focus on drawing the eye to the bustline and waist while keeping everything else (shoulders and hips) minimal. 🤩

Thank you, Nancy. I just recently had double mastectomy and I'm not going to have reconstruction. I do plan to wear a smallish prosthesis..but what would your suggestions be for measuring? I have a pear shape body. Thank you!
Hi 👋 how are you doing?
Yes, please do individual type videos
I really appreciate your help. my shoulders-41-bust-37-waist-31-hips-41. I think I am a rectangle, but would like to know for sure
Hi Lori, Our measurements are very similar. I'd say you're a rectangle leaning slightly to a pear shape. 🤩
Hi. Thank you. Very easy to understand. How about short torso and long torso. I'd like to see the combination of this with the body shapes.
And which part should be dressed in a darker color or in a bright color or stripes and prints mixed with a plain (?dark?) color? Thank you.☀️
Hi, just saw this. I have no idea! 41,36.5, 30, 40
Shoulder, bust, waist, hip.
Love your videos
Measurements are: Shoulder - 41”, Bust - 36”, Waist - 33”, Hips - 42”. I have always considered myself a pear, but greatly appreciate your input. Yes, I would like more specific dressing advice for a 74-year-old, 5’2” frame. Thank you so much!
Based on my measurements (46, 41, 38, 42) think I'm a rectangle. It would be great to see a video on how to dress each body shape.
I really appreciate yr help with this..my shoulder 39” bust 38” waist 32” hips 38”
Yes please! Apples!
My measurements are very close to yours and I have the same tummy issue. Dang that menopause!
Thank you - my measurements are shoulders-45”, bust-43”, waist-38”, hips-43”.
@@shoppingonchampagne wow. Thank you so much! This is very helpful!! 😘
Hi Nancy, great video. My measurements are shoulder 44 inch, bust 39 inch, waist 33 inch, hip 43 inch. I appreciate your help. 🙏
Hi everyone. Could you use a string and then measure the string? I think it would be easier for me Thanks
This was a very helpful video. Thank you for including the shoulder measurements! It's so logical that they should be included yet, they are so often ignored. Now....where is my tape measure? I must measure them.
So, I'm not close to 50, but I did enjoy your video! I'm coming in at 5'4" 170lb S:42.5, B: 40.5, W:33, H:42.5
Always considered myself an hourglass 🤷♀️
Hi there
My body measurements are
Shoulder-41”
Bust-36”
Waist-30”
Hips-42”
What should be my body shape ?
5'10", 190 lbs, shoulders - 39.5", bust - 40", waist - 34", hips - 44" 55 yrs female, post menopausal. Thanks for your help :)
I'm a bit confused. I suit hourglass looks overall (your descriptions)
Shoulders 40, bust 41.5, waist 37, hips 45 what do you think? (2 stone overweight)
Hi Laura, It sounds like you have a lovely figure! Since your hips are the largest measurement, I'd say you are a pear shape. Focus on drawing the eye upwards to your face, shoulders, and neckline. I'll be doing a video on your body shape in the near future! 😍
Thank-you! My bottom is all out the back! I will check out clothes for pear. My figure currently resembles a cartoon mom boobs out the front and bottom out the back!
Thank you I enjoyed this topic what do you think I'm a plus-size gal now after menopause and gaining weight in my midsection. large lower tummy, my measurements are
Shoulders 51" Bust 47" under the Bust 38", Waist 41," Hips 52" near crotch and 57" full tummy
Any information you can give me to know my body type, I'm now would be helpful thank you.
Hi, based on your measurements you're a pear shape. Focus on drawing attention to your upper body and shoulders. 🤩
I am 5'2", my measurements are 40,35,30,40. I have a terrible time finding clothes that feel good. Not sure what my body type is. Would appreciate your advice! Thank you
Yes, more on apple shapes!
I just recently came upon your videos. 😊
My problem is this: measurements 47, 43 1/2, 36 1/2, 43 1/2, which I guess is like you, rectangular.
Very informative video I am a pear shape,,,I would like to see outfits that would look best on me.
Sounds good - will be creating a video on that, Joan! 😍
Hi Nancy! Thank you for the video. My measurements are: Shoulders- 43, Bust- 37, Waist- 31, Hips- 40. Does this qualify me as a rectangle? Thank you for all your help!
My measurements were odd-shoulder 44, bust with bra 37-1/2, waist 34 and hip 48
Hi Cynthia, based on your measurements, I'd say you're a pear shape. Focus on drawing the eye to the bustline and waist while keeping everything else (shoulders and hips) minimal. 🤩
wow, I always thought I was a pear, but I'm a rectangle! Thanks
Hourglass here. I always thought it was supposed to be a 10 inch difference. I think 8 sounds better. 😊
Great video and yes please to more of the same. I always thought I was a pear but now I’m not sure. Measurements 43 38 32 (menopause tummy) 41. Thanks
