I've watched many "Find Your Style" videos on RUclips over the last year. This Miss Queen is the best advice I've heard. Your best advice is put your 10 favs clothing pieces on the bed and see what I'm gravitating too. #running2myclosetnow!
I am so excited to have these wonderful ideas to help me become less afraid to delve into a closet makeover. I’ve been wanting to do this for ages but felt totally confused. I’ve been decluttering my entire house for over a year and love the feeling of it but kept procrastinating on my clothes closet…until now!!! Thank you for the breakthrough ✨
Yes, Yes, please share your weight loss journey. You look amazing and could help lots of your followers. I LOVE Lilly and wear mostly that brand. Thank you!!!
A saboteur is such a good way to describe it! I definitely have caught myself emulating a friend’s style or following current trends. I’ve realized you can like or appreciate a certain style without necessarily wearing it. For example, I really like the look of a bohemian style but I’ve tried it and realized it’s just not me. I can like it and appreciate it but I shouldn’t purchase those items if they don’t feel like “me,” because I never end up wearing them!
Kalyn, I also fall into that trap. I love the IDEA of dresses, and love seeing them on others, but the reality is that I don’t wear them much at all. The ones I do wear are simple knit dresses during the summer months. It’s important to not shop for our fantasy self. (Or even create a Pinterest board for that fantasy self!)
Thanks for your knowledge. I'm a smart casual I've found out so sorted my wardrobe. When I shop I have this in mind. I've saved money by buying stuff I will wear and I've never been as comfortable in my own skin let alone clothes. Thank you thank you thank you
Wow what a great video (again)! I had 12 years of "uniforms" and went totally crazy buying anything and everything when I graduated. So true about parents' opinions too...especially Moms. Between following your step by step decluttering and now this defining style video I will be on the right path (finally)! Thank you so much!!
I am just thrilled I found you! I am a preppy (play a lot of golf) and a classic. I usually shop at Talbots and if I can’t find it, I make and design it myself.
I'm so glad you discovered me, Allyson! Yay, to a fellow prep! I'm thrilled to hear you also sew and design your own clothes! What are your favorite garments to sew? 🤔
I am enjoying your voice and your way of speaking,it makes me smile every time I put a video of yours. And above that I really appreciate what you are creating here.I would like very much to see a video on seasonal colouring.Hugs 🤗😊
I was a nurse for 44 years, some in the military. Wore a uniform forever or so it seems. i love color and will look at my faves and start there. Thank you so much. Sent from different email.
And I lost 85 lb in the last year and I'm trying to find my style .I enjoy dressing in pinks and blues and light colored clothing and I like to show off my new body.My 65 years young and I like skinny jeans with a pink t-shirt and a pink Blaze.I love to dress younger than I am .Most of my friends dress in black .Black is not my color. Still have a hard time wearing skirt and some dresses .But I do want to try them.Thank you for your ideas 💡 😋
I have to shop on my own. The people I used to shop with not only pushed their own style, but denigrated mine when I found something I really loved. (I always went back and exchanged their picks for my own, getting exhausted by the struggle in the shops). No one knows your shape, coloring, or most importantly, your style preferences like you do. Trust your own taste! Brands and trends can overly influence our choices, too, all my life I’ve resisted buying black. This season, I will just the intense colors that are trending. I love classic/preppy style, too, but in more muted colors, brights don’t suit me as well.
That was very helpful! I've been going through my closet and working on defining my style for the last couple months. I'm taking my time, shopping my closet first, and enjoying the process! My closet has always been defined by my 9-5 job, time of life, or school, and now that I work from home I feel like I can finally figure out what I really like. I also have a ton of great clothes patterns and have started to sew exactly what I want!🙂 Also, congratulations on your weight loss, you look great!
Yes that's me I have beautiful clothes but now I'm retired and I work at home. Plus I'm slowly losing weight not by choice and I love my clothes. But after finding your channel I'm slowly getting rid of them. Thank you 😊
Great tips! I hope I can finally figure out my style! The problem is I like several styles and can’t seem to narrow down a look. I work from home and recently moved to a warm climate. Now I’m leaning towards “classic beachy casual” but then there’s boho, romantic, French girl…. so many styles that I love. Along with trying to define my color palette…. 😰
You should wear what you like. It is perfectly fine to feel romantic today and boho or classic tomorrow. This what makes it fun. You can mix and match. Play with it. Have fun. A wardrobe full of clothes of the same type and brand is boring.
Life style is for me the most important thing. Therefore, I have two main styles; 1.business- combinations of navy blue,, white, sand or other natural colours 2. Olive garden and woods-chain saw combo mode;)
Just discovered your channel and I love your presentations! I am living a retired life and live in Florida, so very casual (and HOT) around here. I am preparing myself to dive into my, maxed out (very small closet), uncoordinated, and needing a makeover closet! My problem is color. I get overwhelmed over narrowing down colors. I hope you will be doing (I know there are a million of them out there) a video on color. I love so many, that I can't narrow it down!
Hi Sharon, I'm so glad you found me! You actually bring up a very popular problem, so I will be doing a video on narrowing down colors in the near future so stay tuned!
Just subscribed and I love the great tips ! For the past two years; my position became remote with occasional trips to the corporate office. I moved from a state that was four season to a state that is warm all year long. I love clothes and I know had too much; but as time went on living in the warm state and working remote. I have started to be more realistic with my style that is very contemporary with a love for flowy tops and jeans and t shirts. The tips your provided will help taper down my clothes a bit more.
So glad I could help, Maria! About 15 years ago, I made the same move. I kept holding onto all my winter clothes and heavy coats for going back to visit. After holding onto them for a while, I realized I never even used them when I went back to visit...so I unloaded all of those heavy clothes and now I'm in light and airy clothes just like you. 😀
I'm finding shoes difficult to buy. I absolutely cannot wear heels now ( severe arthritis in one foot and ankle). I've seen so many shoes that I just don't like or are so uncomfortable. I see people wearing white tennis shoes for casual wear and all I see are the white shoes I wore as an RN when I worked in a hospital. I need to find something comfortable and attractive that fits MY style. Ironically I used to be known for my great shoes.
I have three styles. Work. Social. Home and Dog Walking. I really enjoy switching between them. The only thing which permeates them all is that they are very feminine. I think the preppy look works well for you!
I just found you. I looked in my closet and found 90% of my clothing is black. I love black and gravitate towards it whenever I shop. I am a retired teacher and find I am less sure of my style than ever before. I thrift a lot and black is always safe. Also, I love prints but none of them "go" with anything else. I am now silver haired with brown eyes and find that color is flattering but doesn't always feel right. A video on find your best colors would be great.
Oh oh! Number 1 was a sticking point! I only have 3 things in my wardrobe I love! And they are my tops I had for work. I’m now retired and with our covid time-I really don’t go to many places! Therefore wardrobe is mostly t shirts and yoga pants-comfortable and practical, but I don’t “love” them!
My main wardrobe is also now yoga pants & t-shirts. Lately, I’ve decided to treat myself to cute, colorful yoga pants & some longer tops I really like.
Never ask husbands what they think of your wardrobe choices. Mine only liked super-slutty boudoir attire and called everything else “comfortable-looking”. Men don’t wear uncomfortable clothes or shoes, ever, why should we?
Great video. I, too, “released” 60 plus pounds and am rebuilding a wardrobe. Thank you for you input about narrowing focus and staying with quality. Would you ever consider doing an episode on undergarments? I’m having a heck of a time finding the right bra for my new body.
Congratulations. I have losted 85 lbs in the last year also.Am 65 years young and want to show off my new body. I love pink t-shirt and skinny jeans. Starting to wear a Blazers and Mojo jackets
I lost 50 lbs over a few years. Make resale shops, ebay and poshmark your good friends for transitional items that won’t break your budget. A well-fitted pair of pants does wonders while you’re on your journey.
Well, if I had a different lifestyle, I know my style would change; however, I'm at home constantly. My style is very loose/casual but I do have to keep dressier clothing in case I have somewhere important to go. I believe that's where my closet is lacking...I need to add a few more pieces that can be worn to special events. Dinners, parties, weddings, Sunday service...just places like that but then again, these are the pieces that tend to hang in the closet. Maybe I should just rent a piece when I need it 🤔😊❤️
Hi Gina, You bring up a really important topic because I think that is how many of us feel about our current wardrobes! Adding this to my video topic list to cover! 😍
My problem is my constant yo-yoing weight, and I have a “fat” wardrobe and a “slimmer” wardrobe. Different styles suit me at different weights, too!☹️ I have also been influenced by other peoples styles that really don’t suit me. So confused! Your videos are superb though…I’m so glad I found you!
After all the 'find your style' videos I've watched, this has by far been the most eye opening and informative one! Thank you for giving us actual questions to ask ourselves instead of showing us pieces you prefer for yourself as I find it sways a lot of viewers. This was fantastic and really got me thinking! I'll be taking to my closet shortly and putting all your tips to good use! Thank you! :)
I am new to your videos. I am really enjoying them. I have always had weight issues up and down. I am 63 years old, a year ago I lost 95 lbs. I have low self esteem, always see myself as overweight, have the extra belly fat from c-sections, and extra skin making it difficult for me to find my style. I tend to not care what I wear usually leggings and oversized t-shirts. I also try to please my husband. I really need help. Any suggestions?
Would love to hear how you lost the weight. How did you dress on the way down? I’m exactly like you in that I love preppy but tend to cover up with dark colors for the slimming effect. If you have advice on preppy yet slimming, that would be something! Love your vids and style!💜
Thank you so much, Cindy! I'll be doing a video on this topic because I had the same problem...my entire closet used to be almost all black. Stay tuned! 😀
Hi Maureen, Yes, stores like Johnny Was: rstyle.me/+0bkRrG1tDjWRHpfW0hcYfg and Free People will have lots of outfit ideas for you. You can also shop vintage boutiques and street fairs for amazing pieces. Look for relaxed and flowy pieces and layer them up with beads and bracelets 😍
Yes! I am all over the board. I thought the more I got rid of, the more my style would appear. Did not happen, I still have a crappy uncoordinated mess with mostly black. My summer stuff looks like the cast from sesame street threw up all over. They don't make the clothes I'd like to wear yet. Something futuristic. The Jetsons style appeals to me. You walk in a room and presto! I don't change my accessories, the jewlery I'm wearing, I will die in.
Hi Linda, that's a great question! Well, Iris is called the "rare bird of fashion" because her style is so unique. I don't think I could put her in a style bucket because it's truly one-of-a-kind. She has collected pieces from all over the world, so it's definitely exotic. I'd also say it's eclectic and most of all, it's fun!
I had more style when I was wearing suits ever day because I dressed with purpose. No I don't really socialize anymore but I like to look fashionable when I leave the house. I like athleisure. I'm making progress.
I don’t have the money to go shopping , only once and awhile. So, I wear the same things most of the time. When I do go through my closet I take my used clothes to a reach out store. I am 72 and I like to stay updated on my clothes. I would like to find someone who has cleaned their closet and wants to give them away. I only go shopping mostly at thrift stores and wall mart. I think I’m goin to have to clean my closet like you suggest. Love your ideas. Congrats on weight loss.
Hi Sharon, Many of us love the treasures we find at thrift shops! If you clean out your closet, you may be able to sell some of your old clothes to your local consignment store or to one of the companies I mentioned in this video: ruclips.net/video/9sl1RGGJzLg/видео.html
Oh! oh! 😱Thanks!!! ❤this is the first time i understand that my aesthetic, my taste is towards country girl, just without a hat! 🤠I used to say I was just an eclectic/maximalist, but now I'm realizing that's not true
Also, my sister thinks she knows my style and is always trying to dress me. It so frustrating because what works for her doesn't for me... How do you politely tell someone who's trying to help to not do it?
Hello, Congratulations on your weight lost that is a great accomplishment. 🏅 I love fashion, but unfortunately my weight and apple shape limits me on finding my style. At present I am on a journey to lose weight, and you know by experience how difficult it can be trying to dress fashionable while losing weight. Also does a body shape limits you on a style. For example I am 5’1 and apple shape, but I like Jennifer Aniston classic dress style she being way much thinner and taller can an Apple shape dress in that style. Can you also do a Vlog on how to dress while losing weight? Thank you for sharing
Hi Dori, I'm also an apple shape so I understand your pain! I have lots of ideas on how to dress while losing weight so I'll add that to my video lineup coming soon! Thanks for your feedback and best wishes on your weight loss journey! 🥰
I have more than one style, I like classic (trousers, jackets), comfortable sport (tshirts, shoes, boots), romantic minimalist (dresses, long capes, hats) 😁 I've never dressed the way I am 😶 But now, that I'm sixty, won't listen to anyone about my own style 😁
You should wear what you like. It is perfectly fine to feel romantic today and boho or classic tomorrow. This what makes it fun. You can mix and match. Play with it. Have fun. A wardrobe full of clothes of the same type and brand is boring. Reply
I think some of us dress with what we can find that we think hides our imperfections and makes us blend in not to be noticed. Maybe I should say that is how I dress.....I'm overweight, and that is all that I think of when I purchase clothing....does it cover my tummy, does it hide my bat wings, does it hide my lower stomach....and on and on. I do have things that I think are more flattering than other things. Just wondering how you would deal with these issues----other than psychiatric help (just kidding)????
Hi Maw Maw Karen, as someone who struggled with my weight as well, I completely understand your frustration and focus on problem areas. I will be doing a video in the near future about how to dress for your figure no matter your size so that you look and feel good! 😍
I've always wanted to have my own classic signature style but honestly, it gets so boring. The things in my wardrobe that give me most pleasure are the things that make me change my style a little bit because I am always evolving and that's what makes dressing up so exciting. If your approach to dressing up is looking presentable and taking all the decisions out of the process, by all means go with this but if you get truly excited about dressing up, this is not for you.
I agree. We should wear what we like. It is perfectly fine to feel romantic today and boho or classic tomorrow. This what makes it fun. We can mix and match and develop our own style. Play with it. Have fun. A wardrobe full of clothes of the same type and brand is boring.
Being a 53 year old, short, chubby woman--I HATE SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES!!!! I want a department store called: "You're 53 YEARS OLD--DON'T DRESS LIKE YOUR MOTHER!"
Don't forget those of us who are in the retired years!! I do know my style but I just enjoy all your videos!!
Hi Nancy...I also have lost weight...18lbs...which has made me more aware of fashion...thank you for your ideas!!!xxx

@@pauline6521 Keep me posted on your progess - you can do this! 🤩
Stay tuned! 😀
I like gypsy style can you suggest clothes for me
Hi Maureen, Yes, stores like Johnny Was: rstyle.me/+0bkRrG1tDjWRHpfW0hcYfg and Free People will have lots of outfit ideas for you.
One easy way to incorporate colors into your wardrobe is to have black pants and skirts and colorful tops.
I too love Iris. What would YOU say is her style please?
Hi Linda, that's a great question! Well, Iris is called the "rare bird of fashion" because her style is so unique. I don't think I could put her in a style bucket because it's truly one-of-a-kind. She has collected pieces from all over the world, so it's definitely exotic. I'd also say it's eclectic and most of all, it's fun!
It depends what season it is and my mood how I get dressed in the morning.
I had more style when I was wearing suits ever day because I dressed with purpose. No I don't really socialize anymore but I like to look fashionable when I leave the house. I like athleisure. I'm making progress.
HI new subby here.great tips! so happy to have found you :) I'v always had a capsual woredrope and never new it! LOL connie
I love color and different styles but also like classic too, like your shirt :)
Can I do a preppy style even if u didn’t when to college I love this style …
Absolutely! Give it a try, Julie! 😍
Do u have to do evening preppy …in your life .. I seen it in few RUclipsr …
@@julieherrera886 No you don't have to do everything preppy. I love preppy style so I wear it all the time. 😀
@@shoppingonchampagne ok that’s good to here thanks you for clarifying it 💕
Have you done a video on loosing weight? And how to dress while loosing? Need help, I'm struggling ❣️
Hi Karol, I am going to be making that video very soon! 😀 Thanks for letting me know it's something you want to learn more about!
Also, my sister thinks she knows my style and is always trying to dress me. It so frustrating because what works for her doesn't for me...
How do you politely tell someone who's trying to help to not do it?
I love all your Lilly prints and white hangers. I’m really interested in how you lost 60 pounds and are successfully keeping it off.
Thank you so much, Leanne. I'll have to do a video on that! 🥰
Hello,
Congratulations on your weight lost that is a great accomplishment.
I have more than one style, I like classic (trousers, jackets), comfortable sport (tshirts, shoes, boots), romantic minimalist (dresses, long capes, hats) 😁
I've never dressed the way I am 😶
But now, that I'm sixty, won't listen to anyone about my own style 😁
You should wear what you like. It is perfectly fine to feel romantic today and boho or classic tomorrow. This what makes it fun. You can mix and match. Play with it. Have fun. A wardrobe full of clothes of the same type and brand is boring.

Does anyone have any good lists of styles?
My style is Thrift store chic, so I guess that my style is bohemian in my out of work style.
Leisure and work in Healthcare
My problem is I like fitted clothes, but am a bit too thick in the middle for them!
Lol, I get it! Check out my video on dressing for your body shape: ruclips.net/video/JutYb1yGO9A/видео.html
I always wear anything I like. Guess I need to learn my style if that is possible.
Aris, style isn’t Prepy..not the least
neat
Omg! I carry a ??
Shopping on your own is key. Do not bring a friend.
💯💯💯
Being a 53 year old, short, chubby woman--I HATE SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES!!!!
I want a department store called: "You're 53 YEARS OLD--DON'T DRESS LIKE YOUR MOTHER!"
👍
I just want to feel good, comfortable and not to childish for my age.
Wear what you love, I don't think you'll look childish! 😍
How did you loose all of that weight?!
I'll be making that video soon thanks to your comment! 😀
Also, finding your style in plus size can be challenging
Takes too long to get to the point
Instead of finding your style, shouldn't you be wearing clothes that fit your personality? Isn't that easier?
Hi Cathy, They really go hand in hand! Many women just need to be pointed in the right direction of what that is. 💕
You lost weight win but some of are the same. You bought a brand new wardrobe most of us can’t.
