      There's also @coganlollins these were wolves: or HEAPs (Hyper Evolved Accelerated Proteins) from the scifi show Sanctuary,werewolves from the show Being Human(one of the main characters were bitten when he was younger,and developed Lycanthropy/werewolf hybrid) sam only changed one time at full moon that's 12 times a year. you find out later the original pure blood werewolves are stronger than any Werewolf known in that series(I would say they could be more evolved than Gabriel,not as strong as Lucian/Uber Werewolf or Marius. However,they change every single night when there a full moon,and their kind get stronger as they get older(so their strength,healing factor,speed has no limits,they just get better)
      Than the Faye werewolves from Lost Girl(they are stupid strong) I have no clue where to place them

    The werewolf in Monster Squad definitely deserves a mention. When they say only a silver bullet can kill a werewolf in that movie, they meant it. It's also worth pointing out just how good 'Underworld: Rise of the Lycans' actually is. This is no gimmick-laden flick relying on telegraphed transformation scenes . I think it's probably the best in the genre. The gothic set design is superb. The story is engaging, and it works as a fine metaphor for class-struggle and suppression, and the decadences of privilege. Michael Sheen is awesome as a 'Spartacus'-like saviour of his species, whilst Bill Nighty plays the Machiavellian aristocrat leader of the vampires with audacious camp. Check it out!

      The only that I wish they would've done with the movie is actually show the Lycans and werewolves side by side in a shot. They show Lucian when he changes to stop them in the woods but they never show the pushed in snout Lycans right beside the longer muzzle of the Werewolves. It's assumed at the end that there's Lycans mixed in but it doesn't show then. Also all the Lycans in this movie have a shorter muzzle when they show Victor's daytime guards and the Lycan that was chained up changing the slaves into wolves.

    I like the Underworld Werewolves/Lycans. It should be treated like a curse but they also explain the anatomy and biology behind it. Alexander Corvinus body reacted differently when infected with a plague. He became the first immortal and had 3 sons. Two twins, 1 bit by Bat, 1 by a Wolf and one younger brother who lived amongst mortals. Being bit by a Werewolf will make you into a mindless monster for eternity. It would make sense that eventually a pregnant woman would get bit. A child being able to become a Wolf at will is awesome. Very interesting lore behind it I like stuff like that. How the origin that lead to a creation of a monster occurred and have it make sense. What if one of the brothers was bit by a pig. Would they turn into a pig? Lol

      There's actually 3 generations of werewolves in Underworld. Like you mentioned William any individual infected by him cannot return to their human form.
      Second generation started with Lucian. His mother was bitten while she was pregnant with him, when born he was human but could voluntarily transform while still be able to revert back to his human form. Any bitten by him also gained that ability if they survire. Older Lycan's have grown stronger over time no longer need the moon to trigger their transformation.
      Last are the Super Lycans from Awakening who are genetically enchanced (by Anti-gen) being twice the size of regular lycans as well greater strength and stamina.

    For the Underworld, I think the reason why Marius and Quint become massive while Michael and Eve remained the same is because of the Corvenus blood. Michael being from the 3rd child of Alexander and Eve from Serene's direct Alexander's blood. Michael and Eve were closely to human but when others were to take it in, they turn into massive monsters.

    • @nooneofimportance2110
      @nooneofimportance2110 Год назад +2

      Well Micheal was half vampire and half werewolf from the onset. He never truly was one or the other. Eve was actually mostly vampire, her father was a descendant of the 3rd Corvenus, and a half and half. Her mother was a vampire who was transformed by the "pure" Corvenus blood into something new. Marius and Quint were werewolves mutated by ingesting the blood of stronger beings, but only temporarily.

      Half werewolf and half vampire would've been Marcus (when he awoken by drinking werewolf blood) and Lucian's kid.
      Marius and Quint drank from Michael while the doctor drank Eve's blood (which is practically 100% Corvinus)

    • @nooneofimportance2110

      @@wanderingbufoon Michael wasn't a direct descendant of Corvinos, he was A descendant of the 3rd son of Corvinos (the MORTAL son), and he was lucky enough to have the genetic markers that enabled him to overcome the inherit lethality of the vampire/werewolf viruses. Selene herself talked about how lethal the viruses they carried were. But Michael WAS NOT a pure strain Corvinos.
      Marius was drinking ground up Michael. Quint was drinking Eve's blood.
      Eve was half vampire, a quarter werewolf, and a quarter Corvinos strain mutant immortal.
      I don't think even the filmmakers knew what the hell Marcus was. I'm pretty sure he was just the first vampire, and thus why he turned into a giant bat monster. Not actually sure he hybridized when he drank lycan blood. If he had been hybridized, he wouldn't have been so easily killed.

    • @wanderingbufoon
      @wanderingbufoon Год назад +2

      @@nooneofimportance2110 I think the issue was that Underworld 2 wasn't really fully fledge in the works and everything was more of a 1 off kind of film. Another thing is that the story arc of the 3 brothers didn't give Michael a lot of leeway to explain his powers.
      We know about Marcus and William. I think the 2nd film tried to do a Van Helsing route. In the story, the 2 brothers were bit while the remaining sibling remained pure.
      As far as we can tell, Michael or the 3rd lineage is special. Not because they can take in the 2 brothers' strain but because they are immortal.
      Michael is the only one that has ever come back to life from fully dead in the series. I don't think David and Selene count as they were assisted. David by Selene's Corvinus blood (making him hybrid) and Selene was brought back by Lena (Nordic ritual).
      Michael was killed and drained ever since he became a hybrid and he's gone back from the dead.
      So to say that his bloodline is normal is quite an understatement. I think there's a lot that was meant to be answered about the 3rd line through Michael. Unfortunately, Scott Speedman didn't want to reprise his role so we would never get to (at least in films, perhaps a show or game or visual novel).
      I do have a feeling that after Van Helsing, Underworld tried to give their own spin on that universe or give it a sequel using their own universe. Dracula for Marcus, Van Helsing for William/Lucian and Frankenstein's Monster for Michael.

    Werewolves were always my fav monster. Vampires typically seem the ...sophisticated, alluring types and normally have far more human forms. While they are also normally given hightened abilities...werewolves generally are always stronger and more durable. Plus a badass beast form. Hence why I love them, its a display of raw power and ferocity.

    A TV top 5 of werewolves would be really interesting because there have been so many.
    Have you watched werewolf by night yet? I really enjoyed the old monster movie vibe and the characters in it.
    Viking werewolf is another new one to check out. Its not the best, but not the worst werewolf film I have ever seen. Different take on the werewolf story worth a watch.

      If Werewolf By Night is based on the Marvel comic then it was totally based on the original Wolfman movies. Marvel changed later because of legal challenges from Universal, so they had to change the head design, but its totally inspired by Lon Chaney Jr.'s original Wolfman. Later it became more like the Lycans from Underworld and Jack Russel had control over his transformation. Even teamed up with Ghost Rider for a while I think.
      I read the marvel comic when it first came out (yes I am old LOL) and it had that same Wolfman vibe.

      @michaelpeele8558 you can really see it was inspired by the original wolf man movie ,was done really well and kinda up there with the wolf man from monster squad , yes I am also old just an 80s kid ha. But loved watching hammer horror and old monster movies back on a Saturday night in the 90s ,or horror movies on Friday the 13th. Don't know what genius put a stop to that but was a real pity. Loved tales from the crypt too.
      I sadly never got to read the comics but they all got inspired by something or someone else's work back then. Nasfuratu was inspired by Bram Stoker's Dacula but they changed it just enough, his wife still sued them tho. But it's a great creepy eerie movie on its on . I really liked how they made the wolfman look and the half show the transformation very nostalgic. But very well done especially for his first film I really would love to see a monster verse don't care who does it, once it's done right.

I know that the movies suck but the werewolves still have some pretty good feats, like easily overpowering vampires who are strong enough to uproot trees, and being able to outrun them when vampires move faster than humans can see. They also have some feats in human form, like Jakob easily picking up a dirt bike, or healing in less than a few hours from having his rip cage completely crushed (while his bones did grow together the wrong way, it's still impressive that it was faster than Carlisle could stabilize them in the right position). It's not clear how long it took for him to grow the bones together but depending on how long it takes to stabilize bones in a broken rip cage if it was faster than the healing in human form of the wolf man

So many who have seen them said they literally moved faster than they could see when they took off or was passing by them in the woods. My experience with them I did not get to see them, just seen the prints behind me, the woods had dry leaves everywhere yet they passed behind me without a sound, they were in the trees and dropped down to cross the path that cut between the trees making them have to come out of the trees to keep moving as the path cut a gap between the trees. They moved within 10-50 yards of me and I never heard them, there were at least 20 tracks about 10 feet wide with about 20+ tracks of paw prints larger than a dinner plate, I had a size 11 winter boot being over a foot long and I could put my foot inside the paw prints with inches on the end and back of my foot and about 5 inches or more to each side of my foot. They were HUGE. This happened at gourdneck state game area in portage Michigan around 2015-2016 fall bow hunting season.
