    I agree with the recommendation to read the book 'Engineered to Win'. That was a book that I bought over 20 years ago and has remained one of my favourite references.

    Only been lifting regularly for a few weeks, was working squats around 185 thinking my max was around 225. Spotted for a guy who squatted 285, the next day I worked my way up to 285 .

    Informative and Hilarious. Even though Ripp would protest, they need to follow him around with a camera to capture some of his funny antics. Good to know about Canadian customs

      Canada is becoming a liberal communist country welcoming Muslims and rejecting others.

    406 on a hex bar for 6 reps, for a trained athlete, is nothing. I've been lifting for 9 months and just did 475 for 5 my last deadlift day. I don't take any supplements or "roids" lol. Eat lots of protein, drink a gallon of water, recover as needed and sleep 7.5 - 8 hours a night.. oh and I'm 48. Didn't lift for about 7 years prior to this.

    I don't know if I'm convinced about how people who are good with a stretch reflex can necessarily get stronger than someone who isn't as good. It seems to me that they'll be more efficient with an instantaneous contraction, but not necessarily a sustained effort. So like a one rep max versus a ten rep max.

      Hoe Ready Joe Rogan - Gorilla Kettlebell Mob Boss because there is a direct relationship between vertical jump height and the nervous system's ability to utilise the stretch reflex - loosely speaking, both are indicative of good genetics.

    Rip, we often say "suck it up, buttercup". Or we do a Arnold impression while saying "you can do it". Less name calling and more humor with women, from what I've noticed. Same effect, though. Fwiw.

    can you be powerful and endurant at the same time?
    i dont think so.
    my theory is that a guy with a high vertical jump is powerful from nature yes.
    but mayby not as endurant as other people.
    i think theres a difference in muscle fibers and body types.
    i dont think someone is just either weak or strong.
    i think there of course is weak and strong people. but i also think therre is someone who is better at endurance activites.

    • @Pazarvic
      @Pazarvic 7 лет назад

      Travis Christoff There are different types of musclefibers. Fast twitch musclefibers that can make an athlete fast and explosive, then there are slow twitch musclefibers that are more endurant.
