What a great job!! I learned more from you than I have with others. Great job of taking your time on the pointers of for us. I hope that other guitar instructors watch this. Thanks a million.
LOL $35.00 for 1 pick hahahahahahahaha... wait... hahahahahaha... wow, people are paying this? I'm sorry, wait... hahahahahahaha... that's it, that's all I got... well maybe some confusion as to why. Vpicks are as cool and reasonable... 35 bucks holy come on molly
35$ pick LMAO... Good vid though man.. Funny, about a month ago I discovered the same way to hold the pick and it also transformed my rhythm playing 110% so I agree with you.
This is so freaking addictive and enjoyable to play on the guitar. Actually it's such great enjoyment that I played this for 5 hours without a break. Is it common to play the eight notes straight or is it ok to play it slightly shuffled too sometimes? Thank you :)
Awesome, glad it helped out! Here's a link to my strumming course if you're interested countryguitaronline.com/classic-country-and-bluegrass-strumming-patterns-course-outline/ Have a good one! - Devin
Hi great vid..simple and to the point...your "pick U D U" explanation is great...I have to disagree with one of your viewers (pagen gods) who says he plays with his fingers so can't apply this....I "thumb and strum (with the back of my fingers) and this vid fits that to a tee...I "Pick" with my thumb " (All down strokes of course) use the back of my fingers for D and brush back with either nail or finger pad for U...as I also do a bit of Travis picking, for any other single notes in the patterns I just use my fingers as necessary...More strum patterns and connecting licks/runs please...great stuff
I did a quick listen...sounds like you could use DUDU-UDU...the "-" will be a down stroke where you pass over the strings and don't strum (or a light down stroke on muted strings would work there too). Pretty fast paced strumming pattern. Hope that helps...let me know if you have questions on it. I've got several lessons in the queue and wouldn't be able to do a video on it too soon, but I'll keep that song in mind for a future lesson. Thanks a lot for the comment!
@@countryguitaronline please give some lesson on this and also on another song of Lenny Smith- "Our God reigns". Please must help me on this. Thanking you in anticipation! Warm Regards Gideon.
hi I'm a country Vocalist and American songwriter from Oakdale CA Im 23 and getting alot of good ideas I use strum pattern six Alot And Four But I use alot of different types of strumming ,Each pattern Changes the feel of your songs and once you get around a drummer you can hear what the drums will sound like When your writing music This guy is Awsome I've learned lot started playing when I was 13 and writing in my late teens and I've learned more being professional and in the music industry then if I keep my music a hobby, Thanks for this video I've gotten more ideas to use for writing more songs I got a record coming out your video inspired me to write more songs Godbless
I had the same exact problem as you had in holding the pick for almost 10 years! It was so frustating, but I wasn't able to figure out where I was wrong, and being a soloist mostly plaing metal music made things even worst! I was asking to friends, trying to find videos on picking techniques, but nothing worked. Once I was quite down about that thing and I asked God to let me understand where the problem was, and suddenly I found a video of Paul Gilbert explaining few exercises, and in this video he explains that he had the same problem as me and you had! So I changed the way of holding the pick not to the tip of the index finger but to its side, and thank God I've improved rapidly from that day! And now I want to learn some country because it's amazing!
thank you for showing how to hold the pick! i just started playing and this really helped me a lot, i just tried it and it really made the sound a lot better.
I learned guitar from a metal guy and he taught me the correct way to hold the pick that you demonstrate here. When I see people holding the pick wrong and I try to correct them they look at me like I have lobsters crawling out of my ears.
One of the guys I sometimes play with , holds his pick with the " Before " method . But since he's been playing that way sucuessfully for about 75 years , nobody is going to tell him he's wrong .
what a great explanation! I really understood the basics of country and bluegrass strumming and looking forward to getting it up to the more advanced versions you show. Thanks for showing your tricks and explaining it so well and concise :)
I learned alot! Get a better "visual environment" and better camera and better lighting and you will have a million subscribers in no time! Your mic is a little too far away from both guitar and voice. Great job!
Shameful Content they do make a really big difference when you’re recording. Just don’t drop it :) somehow I’ve kept the same one for about five years and it has just about zero wear
Yep those are good too...a lot of people like the beveled Dunlop Primetone picks as well. Dollar for dollar, both of those would be better than BlueChip just because one BlueChip is $35 but the BlueChip picks are still nicer for my taste. Sound a bit better for recording and a little less "plasticky" tone.
I love this tutorial, it's exactly what I needed to improve! After watching this, I grabbed my guitar and picked up the strumming patterns pretty quickly, it's the difference I was looking for. Thank you!!!
WOAH, this lesson is very well structured! And what you did in the end I was able to do with a few weeks training (not quite there yet lol), seriously man thanks for being so awesome.
