- "You're going to be in trouble." Police bodycam video shows an alleged scammer calling William Brock after he had just shot an innocent Uber driver believing Lo-Letha Hall was also a scammer. The caller told police he was an "officer" but ended the call as soon as the detective gave her name.

the most disturbing thing is in America, this is treated exactly as entertainment, despite your earnest expressions. Even more worrying, is that in that insularity, many still view the US as the 'greatest' country on earth, even though insanity like this happens. When the "right to bear arms" was made, it was as a rebellious act against the European standard that only the upper class gentry elite could carry swords and any one else could be punitively punished on the spot, as the gentry person saw fit. Though, no one in the USA seems to understand this anymore and the right to bear arms, seems to be, "the right to behave like a brainless moron".

Or only person not panicking, recently a ladie had a seizure by seafood bagels 🥯 her car was pinned under a truck at full throttle, I also didn’t know what to do but I reached in turned the car off , I was holding up traffic and knew police were in route , everyone asking if I called , of course lots people already did but no one wanted to intervene I actually asked the onlookers because I didn’t understand why they didn’t turn the car off . I think people are afraid of being liable

He waited for the person whom he believed was part of the extortion to show up for the package, taking the law into his own hands. The detective was investigating as if the woman was in on the scam, she was looking for a reason to justify the shooting. There was no reason to shoot! The murderer lied, she never tried to take $12,000 from him because he didn't have $12,000 for her to take. She was trying to get away from him during the entire assault. The only danger or threat came from the murderer. He chose to be Judge, Jury, and Executioner because she was black. There is no way he would've shot a white woman down like a wild animal.

An old man shot a white lady in front of her kid because he thought she was trying to steal his car. She was no where near it, btw. The car couldn't be driven, btw. Yet, that was the guy's defense. "Protecting" his property Relatives would later say they thought maybe he had "a little dementia". Another old guy shot his neighbor, also white, over some LEAVES, in the presence of the man's 8 year old.

They announced themselves as police because they didn’t view her as a victim. They came on the scene and saw a black woman and automatically assumed that she was in on it so they didn’t care to hide the fact that they were police to further investigate.

He was being told he and his family and anyone around him would be killed. It was not unreasonable for him to be brandishing a gun when someone threatening his life and the people around him showed up at his door to pick up the package. He should have assumed that they could have killed him on package pickup

At 21:40, as a 25 year police veteran the fact that he didn't call the police to meet the Uber driver is a problem. There is too much of this cowboy "good guy with a gun" crime fighter mentality going on in our country. Innocent people are being killed and otherwise good people have to go to prison for getting caught up in this wild west mentality. The fact that he was being scammed is a mitigating factor that will reduce his sentence. But at the end of the day he will have to spend time in prison for kidnapping and murdering that woman.
If he doesn't plea, I expect the prosecutors to hit him with the max. The man took matters into his own hands and killed a woman that was clearly over 60 who had trouble walking.

The scammer can literally see her through the app's GPS, so he knows her phone has been stationary for some time (assuming her phone stayed with the officers when she was life-flighted out, either way the dude knows something is up).
The Uber driver also already has the address to where the package is to be delivered, she gets this before she even accepts the trip.
Also, none of this explains why she's answering the old man's phone and not contacting him from her own.

A friend of mine received a call like that saying that his son was arrested and his bail was something like $3000, he asked where was being held he's going to get the money together, they called back but by that time his son was standing in front of him! Total scam, this guy handled this all wrong and he's guilty of murder.

I agree that the officer could've handled things differently. However, I think based on the information they had, which is that Lo-Letha was in on the scam (I don't think they knew at the time that she was sent by the scammer via Uber and had NO connection to them), the cop thought, if she told the scammer that their "accomplice" (Loletha) was hurt, that they would care and police can draw them in that way. I don't think the police realized she was not connected to them at all.
Still, they should've handled it differently and went along with the scam and draw them in that way.
The cops should have said, "Your delivery driver was in an accident, and we are trying to deliver your package. Where do I need to drop this package off? We are trying to complete the job."
At least they would have gotten one step closer to the scammer.

It seems pretty reasonable to me that the cops would think if the old man was telling the truth about the scammers, that the lady was in on it too. They’re still at the scene. They haven’t had time to do all the investigating yet to realize she had nothing to do with it.

I really hate she didn't pull more conversation before INSTANTLY revealing she's the police. OMG. Is this her first day on the job?? Sheesh. Police aren't trained well or supposed to be highly educated...we are lucky they even talked to the scammer at all. They normally say "can't do nothin"

International scammers is a job for the FBI to deal with, or a project for an ex-intel community member with too much time and money on their hands...not a simple cop who got hired to meet HR's diversity goal.

Proposed better handling:-
1. Act like a family member
2. Tell the scammer that the driver had an accident
He's gonna ask if she collected package or ask for the man being extorted.
The man should come on the phone and tell him that the woman has the package but is gonna be taken to hospital. He should ask the scammer if he should take back the package or have someone else get it.
If he says let her keep it and take it with her to hospital, then arrange surveillance while working with Uber to track call source.
If he says take package from the driver, then he'll try to send another driver. This gives Uber time to track caller source. They would have gained valuable info and leverage fairly early.
So much compassion and generosity given to someone who just killed this Black woman! Let’s play devil’s advocate and say she was in on the scam, she wasn’t a threat

Completely honest, I may say! This case is absolutely horrific, and how long did the police call for help after their arrival? Even though the encounter with the old man was completely caught on tape, in their eyes, his actions were justified. SMH...

I agree that the officer could've handled things differently. However, I think based on the information they had, which is that she was in on the scam (I don't think they knew at the time that she was sent by the scammer via Uber and had NO connection to them), the cop thought thought, if she told the scammer that their "accomplice" (Loletha) was hurt, that they would care and police can draw them in that way. I don't think the police realized she was not connected to them at all.
Still, they should've handled it differently and went along with the scam and draw them in that way.
That precious elder woman was delivering money to a scammer, whether she was an Uber driver or not. Did Uber create a service of delivering packages between people that I was unaware of? If not, then why would she do this? Maybe she was being extorted by the scammers too. If so, that's very unfortunate indeed.

He knew he was being scammed. He shot that woman because he was angry. How vile. Cops took one look at that woman and assumed she was in on it with the scammer. They tell the scammer his accomplice got hurt so he better come meet them. These detectives are so ridiculous.
Detective saw a black woman and assumed she was part of the scam... THAT is why they handled the caller like that... they assumed they knew each other and that they would show up because they cared about the victim... I blame Uber for allowing these scams, the Detective for assuming and the old man for not calling police when the first call happened.
