- Do you like making projects, but hate wasting money on lumber? This tool is for you!
The Air Locker AP700 Nail Remover is a pneumatic punch that literally will do all of the work for you --- no more hammers or prybars. Plug it into an air line, pull the trigger, and the nails go shooting out the other side of the board.
I bought this unit for $50 on Amazon & am amazed at how well it works (see links below to check it out!).
Most stores/businesses have piles of used pallets behind the building -- ask them if you can have some & get loads of FREE WOOD to create projects with -- all you have to do is haul them home & remove the nails!
Do you have one of these? How is it working out for you? Leave a comment below & let everyone know your thoughts --- as they are researching the AP700, your comment might really help them out!

I own one and love it. It has saved me sooooooo much time on wood (pallet) cleanup. I agree with everything that you said in this review except the punch hole. To avoid this simply don't hold the tool all the way down over the nail or let the tool kick back slightly so the push rod does not push so much into the wood. If you deal with nail removal you NEED this tool.
A couple of notes here. 1. The nails will come out at HIGH speed. Safety glasses (if not a face shield) are a must here. I have had nails rebound around and actually hit my face and I am sure it would have resulted in a trip to the emergency room without them... 2. place a bucket or a trash can below where you are shooting the nails out and put come paper, bubble rap or some trash in the bottom to reduce the bouncing around of the nails.
Can't say as that I have tried that. I have a pallet bar that I use to pull the boards off the runners then punch out the nails from the planks. It may drive the nail into the runners, but I use them in my woodworking so driving them deeper is not my goal.
With a nail in a 2 inch thick board would this still work to drive it through without being placed all the way flush against the wood? I'm concerned that with a stiff or rusty nail it could be prone to just bending the nail or breaking it if it weren't seated all the way flush to the board.
Price
Helpful tip if using this or even the cheaper ones on Amazon... take a paint stir stick and drill multiple 1/16”, 1/8” or other holes in it... slide that over the nail before using this and it won’t leave the punch mark in your wood.
I was wondering about that. Or taking one, and cutting a slit in it the width of the nail. So that way you don't have to fish the nail through the hole, just slide it up and into the slit you cut. But I don't own one, YET!!! Would this work?
I've been using this nail remover with great success. It's a super tool and works best when de ailing dry, not wet wood. For safety I followed another user's tip and place my boards over a five gallon bucket 3/4 full of water and punch the nails into this. The water cuts the velocity of the flying nail quickly and contains all the nails in one spot.
Brilliant, thank you.
that's a really good idea. 👍
i have owned this very tool for 4 years now its awsome cost little very light and easy to use i have driven many thousands of nails with no issues simply brilliant i well reccoment the air locker 11 out 0f 10.
My grenades are always falling over and laying around all over the place and are quite disorganized. I would have never thought that grenade organization could be made so simple out of PVC like you have at 3:07. Genius!
Ain't that the truth! Until I found that solution, my grenades were always falling off the counter, the drawers, the cabinets and what have you. Once, in the process of falling, a grenade caught itself on a hook sticking out of the wall and the pin came out thereby arming the grenade, Well you know what happened next. Talk about a mess!
I went back to see this. Lol
Finally! Someone on RUclips who has the same probs as me!
We are a throw away society. I just pull that little ring on the side and throw it out the window and get a fresh one.
it can even hold my RPGs too. Amazing life hack! XD
glad your back!
Been around tools all my life and this is one of the handiest I’ve ever seen for building or DIY projects 👍
just got mine today, can't wait for the weekend to give it a try.
I own one. I bought it to de-nail a deck I built for my in-laws 35 years ago. 2 x 6 nailed 24” OC. My 9 year old grandson hit the 3 1/2” ringshank nails I used to put the soaking wet wolmanized (CCA) decking and joists down and @ 90psi the AP700 airlocker was blowing 66% completely out. Those that would cling to the 2x stuff he easily Removed with an adjustable head crescent 18” prybar. Thanks T2.0.. Your help and your dads REALLY helped me out, Thank you both,
btw, I picked up an extra piston as well.
That is the coolest thing I have ever seen. Just bought one
This is a great tool. I’ve never seen it before. I’m looking into it and I like your modification suggestions
Thank you for this video. I just mine and it came with an extra piston. I like the modifications you made. Great video. Thanks for taking it apart and showing all the features.
Extremely detailed and very useful video. Thanks for posting.
Yay he’s back! This kind of reminds me of when I used an palm nailer to shoot knots across the room in building trades. Just me goofing off. I bet a palm nailer would work well too if you happened to have one.
I have one and it is a great addition to the toolbox.
I could DEFINITELY use one of these!!! Thank you for posting this video
when i watch your reviews I WANT THAT TOOL ALWAYS
GREAT REVIEW
Finally a new video
Could be a great asset I'm tired of bending and prying out nails
Oh heck yeah, I could totally use one of those!!!
I've owned one for 3 years, and driven out over 200 pounds of nails, I like your additions to the gun
Wow! Cool tool!
This review was top notch. Definitely helpful as I may be in the market.
Love the Humble Mechanic shirt!
Thanks for the video!
I'm going to purchase one. Never knew it existed. Thanks for the demo and video
Nice Humble Mechanic shirt!
Come on Milwaukee this be a great m12 tool
Great review thanks
I like seeing the tool work, and it gives me ideas .It does work GREAT.
Finally a new video! 👍🏼
We need more vids! Great tool review!
Great looking tool. Very useful
This looks like the tool to have for a person who reclaims pallet wood.
I hate having to pry the boards apart, and am glad to see that I'm not the only one using hand grenades for disassembly.
Just was breaking down some pallets today. Can't wait to try this tool
Great. Now I have to get that too. It's never ending.
Bought one a few months back. I use the hell out of it. Where it really shines is in processing pallets. No body is really shedding a tear over a pallet board having an enlarged nail hole in it. Most times I just use a circular saw and cut the outside runners off then use a Vergo Ind. Pallet buster to pop the slat off the center runner. If you're the type to go the reciprocating saw route by cutting the nails behind the slat, this lil guy is your best friend for punching the cut-off nail heads out of the slat. Because the punch extends beyond the end of the nail tube you just place the end of it on top the cut nail stub and It'll drive that leftover nail head right out or at the very least push it proud of the surface, which makes pulling it the rest of the way out as easy as swiping a flat bar over the other side to knock the heads off.
just got one in the mail today, thanks for the tips and tricks.
I bought one after watching this and it is GREAT.
Very good idea for cleaning lumber....will be getting one for sure. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for the review!
I de-nailed some crates with a hammer and crow bar and got frozen shoulder for my troubles. Put me off them completely. Now, however... I want this!!! Thanks for a GREAT review. You got right down to business and added all that helpful information at the end, also. Good job.
Glad to see new content. I’ve purchased a few items based on your reviews and I’ve been happy so far. I started watching after all the drama that is so prevalent in everything nowadays.
Hope to see more interesting videos!
I want one!!! Also those 360 degree fittings!!! 😍😍😍
Welcome back
On my to list, a definite Buy
Have a bunch of corrogated tin nailed to the inside my barn. This unit makes removal possible by punching the nails through the tin. Great tool.
This is awesome!! Great tool.
Worth the price on a single demolition project... No doubt. Great review man.
Awesome tool. I need one.
Fantastic tool,
I love it and can see one in my future after I save a few bills up
I have one of these. Works great, especially when tearing down pallets. One problem did arise but was easily fixed. A nail go jammed beside the plunger. I tool it apart and it fell right out. I haven't used mine for a while but I believe this unit requires oiling like a regular nail gun. I will read my manuel before I use it again. All in all, I was pleased how well it worked.
I like the fittings you custom it with
Excellent vid,thank you 👏
Man! I was watching another video and this guy just mentioned it in the passing and I had to back it up and listen again. I’ve been a weekend warrior for over 10 years and this is the first time I’ve ever heard of this tool. Now most of my nail removal involves 16ga nails so that wouldn’t work, but I’ve had some larger deck removal projects where this would’ve been great to remove a ton of nails before discarding all of the wood.
If you are dumping the wood, just hammer the nails flat.
Cool review of a tool I didn’t know existed….👍
Just got 1 and ready to use it.
interesting points, good review. It has actual content.
great wonderful tool for pallets
I bought one of these about six months ago. This has saved countless hours reclaiming pallet wood. The only problem I have had with this is occasionally a nail gets stuck in the nose of the gun. It's a minor nuisance at this time and I'll have to keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse. I've recommended this to several people that have bought one for themselves and they couldn't be happier.
Great video, well put together.
This is perfect! I'm building a shed/ workshop out of pallets and the ones I get are easy to tap the 3\4x3 planks off the 2x4s but it takes too much time to denail them with a hammer and pry bar and I'm too tired to put them up before I go to work. This will definitely speed things up and I have a lot more planks to harvest for the siding!
Did you finish the shed? What size is it? How many pallets did you use?
Great info! Thanks!
Great review, thanks!
I did not know that tool
I would love to see what it does with a spiral or ring shank since a lot of pallets seem to be put together with those. Looks like a great time saver!
Nice shirt and a nice tool to boot. I don't strip pallets down that often, but I could definitely use one of these drivers.
Need it NOW !
This tool is amazing
Clever invention 👍
That's awesome. I need one.
It’s kick ass!
I saw one of those hand punches on another video and then saw this tool after a google search. Had to find out if it's any good. This is definitely the next tool on my list as I source most of my wood for projects as reclaimed.
Keep an eye on the links I put in the description.....these pretty much sold out after I made this vid --- but they are all on backorder & will be back in stock soon if they get sold out. Don't waste $160 on one like some ripoff re-sellers are now charging on Amazon as a 3rd party seller! They are only $50 (or $62.50 with extra driver).
It is a fantastic tool and I use it several times a month - I dismantle pallets and work with pallet wood a lot. This tool took a lot of research (I have the silver/red 600 series, not the 700) but once I got it I have never regretted the purchase. Thanks for the good review video, you present very well.
If you don't put the nailer against the wood, I find that the hole it leaves will not be as wide - but personally don't mind the holes since pallet wood is already quite... holly
Hi guys, I just received mine 😊
But i don't know where to put the oil, can you please help me?
nico97412 in the air intake. Look in my videos, I show how to put air in mine.
Thanks 😊
Best reviewer on youtube!!
Thats actually a pretty cool tool. Would most certainly help anyone who does any type of wood working. :)
Informative video, I am going to get one from Amazon. Going to take pallets apart for pallet projects.
wow Great tool I will be buying one ty !
That is awesome!!! I want 4...
I used it to remove luan from the floor by just simply send in the nail further through ... Saved me 2 days were the work.. Unbelievable amount work to be completed with such a well priced tool !Silly not to have it on the job.
Just ordered from Amazon and it arrived today. Will put it to use in the next couple of days. Some of the videos I have seen suggest using alower pressure than 90 and also drive the nails into a five gallon bucket. I will give these try and see have it works for me.
Looks legit!
Badass....I’m gonna get me one a them.
this is a 10 out 10
Very cool.
That's awesome
I need to check out this tool! I do pallet wood projects all the time and it's either wasting time pulling nails or dulling blades hitting nails.
Hey nice video , nice tool and nice t-shirt 👍
Very cool tool - I think its awesome . A lot of people do use pallet wood . Like the gun hook idea - I'm using that one for sure .LOL
The hand grenade in your tool inventory was a nice touch.🤪
🤣🤣🤣
I like the tshirt!
That right angled fitting prevents hose wear at that joint. Very smart!
The gun costs $51 on Amazon. With a bundled extra driver it is $58. The driver by itself is $13. Good idea to get the kit.
I think it makes sense to also get the angled valve thingie and the belt clip - very ergonomic and will spare your air compressor hose fittings from getting a kink.
Good review, and very happy to have seen this tool. I need one for pallet work. I typically use a Sawzall to cut the nails off, because I like the embedded nails in the wood for texture. I 'sand' off the tops of nails with an angle grinder and metal grinding wheel, then sand the wood down, stain, oil, poly up the piece and done. However, it is very hard to cut the wood on the saw if nails are still in it. Some of the pallet ribs are thick and should be cut in half to be lighter for projects. Now I can do that, hurrah! Now to find a tool to pry off the pallet boards.
Gonna get me one of them!
Love it, need it.
‘bout time, always need cool new tools
Holly Shit !!! I am kicking my self for not inventing this myself 20 years ago. I have removed more than my fair share of nails....and would love to have this. I am going to order one today.......LOL .........Thanks for sharing.
Una herramienta muy útil!!! Saludos y gracias por mostrarla
Cool toy, good video idea, I had no clue this even existed.
"I also lay this down next to my grenade holder....."
Cool tool. I'm going to pick one up.
Have it, love it a must have if you reclaim wood. I havent noticed the larger hole for nails but i control my pressure and it wont punch as hard. Depends on wood size.
love it
Good idea
