If that thing scares you and if you have nails bouncing around you don't really need to work with any tools without knowing safety
    1. Put a bucket under where the nails come out
    2. Don't put it on your body
    3. Put the damn wood on something hard like a table and a hole where the nail is coming out

There is also a Nail Puller air tool that pulls out nails by the Head.

Dude punch the nails out with the timber sitting on the rim of a bucket of water. That thing isn't dangerous at all. It's only dangerous because you are being unsafe with it. WTF are you thinking holding the timber in your hand?

It never ceases to amaze me how a nation that believes in the right of every tom dick and harry to carry a firearm, competent or not....and where virtually no one uses the safety guards on angle grinders people are concerned about the safety of a device like this. Every single tool in your shop has a safety risk and in general your safety is determined by your competence to operate the equipment.
All this being said, I think this would be a fantastic tool to add to my collection.

All of the tools you mentioned have a safety or an interlock to prevent accidental firing/activating. I’m not saying this should, just that extra caution should be used when using this.
