  • The USA TV series "Night Flight" visits John on the set of the "Hurts So Good" video in the spring of 1982 to discuss his music career, his new album "American Fool," and get insights into all three of the album's singles, including "Jack & Diane" and "Hand To Hold On To."

This may be the best interview of a Rocker ever. Anyone who has ever wondered how John has sustained a life long career in music should watch this. From session players, to song writing, to staying true, and on and on he had figured out 37 years ago!

John Mellencamp (condescendingly): "I'm not like Elvis Costello." Not even in that little pipsqueak's dreams could he ever be..

"I wouldn't know what to do if I got off the road and had to go to Los Angeles and live and put up with the pretentiousness that goes on in that town...it's hard for me to deal with it..to be there two months straight to make a record because I can't put up with all of the..) So says the guy wearing a Glendale, California Harley Davidson t-shirt! (folks, you cannot make this stuff up)
