- John discusses his new album "Whenever We Wanted," his new single "Get a Leg Up," his disdain for tattoos, and much more prior to performing "Love and Happiness" on this 1991 late-night talk show.
One of the most prolific songwriters ever. Mr. Mellencamp is a true artist, and I feel blessed he's been relevant for 45+ years of my life.
My gosh he had some bangers. He was so so young here
Another Indiana Legend
Love & Happiness is a killer, killer tune. Rock as rock can get.
That song rocks
One of my favourite Mellencamp albums 👍👍🎵🎶🎸🎸🎵
He and his aunt were ahead of the times with the tattoos. Pretty good performance of one of the harder songs off "Whenever We Wanted."
OMG he is so cute, honest, and humble here! God, why is he such *perfection*!?
Definitely one of the two most humble rock stars there are. Springsteen being the other...which one could argue that Springsteen is the most humble considering his sales, respect, and reputation. Of my entire life, John and Bruce are my two most listened to artists, so that's coming from nothing but respect.
Springsteen IS awesome. And I know he is very humble! But I'm a dieheard Mellencamp fan! Haha!!! If you wanna talk about humble "heartland rockers", I also believe Bob Seger is another insanely humble guy!!!
