This is such a good video! I am definitely struck with perfectionism - the tip where you start at the end though is so good and smart!! im definitely going to use that tip!!!
The real problem for piano beginners is having this will to practise bits you are bad at, such as that particular scale you're bad at and you hate or trilling in my case....They advise you to go straight to your weaknesses in piano, but no one likes to feel like a failure even if it is you practising alone in your room.
Very understandable! Learning piano is super difficult and many learners (particularly adults) understand HOW to get better but can’t get there hands to do the particular technique or phrasing etc.. I think that’s what leads to frustration or a feeling of failure. The key is to try not have expectations of yourself and don’t view problems as a failure but as a step towards success. Very much like completing a jigsaw, the fun is in finding the gaps and filling in another piece of the bigger picture, rather than looking at what you have already completed and being frustrated that there are holes in it. However, sometimes you might want to sit and play something without the intention of filling in another piece so you can appreciate how far you have come! 😃

Thank you! I’m glad you found the video useful, definitely give working backwards a go and let me know how you do with it! 😀
