@@irieite9666 Yeah, it's a weird one.
@@irieite9666 yeah I feel you
@@irieite9666 I think it’s safe to say that everyone who has played keeper feels this way... great way to put it
A good keeper, with bad luck. Mistakes is part of the game. Wish him all the best!
If someone on England could have risen and put one in this might be a much-forgotten moment. He got to join Paul Robinson on an unfortunate list.
I listened to him talking and then went and watched the mistake and I felt genuinely sorry for him. He seems like a nice man. Pity this happened to him .
He is a chill person he came into my dads pizza shop about 10 years ago and I didn’t realise it was him until someone pointed him out just a genuine guy!
Doesn’t that make him unremarkable..?
English goalkeeper: *gets a call-up*
World Cup: I'm about to end this man's whole career
Made Jordan Pickford tbf
Godot i see you everywhere, we must have same reccomend and i always ask you if i can have some coffee
Pickford was class
Opposite for Pickford. He crashed after the WC
@@DricusDuPlessis185 Why coffee? I'm curious.
Really eloquent, amiable guy. Great insight.
Top man... He's punditry is also 1st class
What a great character Rob seems to be. I remember watching him in the EPL and he was a very solid keeper. Crazy thing is I actually remember being happy to see his name on the game sheet that day and I really wanted him to do well against the states. That mistake definitely didn’t represent who Rob was as a keeper but I also appreciate his perspective on the keepers on England by saying the were naturally more talented than him because they were. I think Capello picked him because he was the most level headed between the three of them and was still a very decent keeper/athlete. Was an intriguing video.
He always comes off as a lovely guy. Everyone makes mistakes and it was hardly a great tournament from the rest of the team ngl. He deserved forgiveness years back
If this was a black goalkeeper you’d be abusing him, just saying
Great guy. Loved his little stint at Chelsea. Also enjoyed seeing him lift the Europa league trophy in full gear even though he wasn't registered for the tournament. That smile was priceless
Highly intelligent chap
he was a mediocre keeper thrown into a shitty situation. Still not good enough. He was crap.
@@dizzydazed8055 he was a decent prem keeper for a very long time. He probably wasn't good enough to be an England number 1, but it's ridiculous to say he was crap.
@@zachgravatt5571 at that time Rob Green was our best keeper. He deserved support after that mistake. D.James was more prone to mistakes in his career
One of a few well-spoken footballers
@@tobimcballz9206 I think Joe Hart probably should have been first choice in 2010. Still my point was Green was a very decent keeper and certainly deserved some England caps
Damn rob’s laugh at 6:49 really felt pure. I love the lad and Jamie is a legend for saving him there.
Lloris made an equally devastating error in the World Cup FINAL. Muslera also made a bad error against France in the same WC. In 2010 it's the whole England squad that was bad. Just unlucky that he is not blessed with a good squad like France that can cushion the error.
Yes Lloris made a mistake, but give credit to Mandzukic. Crazy pressure punished Lloris for taking a touch. Lloris had to clear instantly, many goalies wouldve made the same mistake.
De Gea against Portugal
The way he talks about this whole experience and football in general makes me feel like he’d make a great manager
his little finger 😳
Common injury in sports where catching a ball is required.
@@DeCharlesFre no i think its polydactlyly
That’s also take my attention from the video
I would never of noticed without your comment... 😳😳😳
@@mohammedzaid9191 it's not, Rob Greene said in 2015 that is was just the result of 20 year of goalkeeping. Just accumulative injuries to a finger which hadn't properly healed.
I was 8 and remember my dad yelling at the TV so clearly.. wish he didn't now seems so honest n genuine
I bet he's glad social media wasn't as big back then as it is now
Wow what an honest and well spoken person Green is. Very impressed with Carra as well. Great panel!
Can't believe " Abbey road" from the Beatles wasn't even out yet the last time we won a trophy
Lmao
Fuckin' Revolver wasn't out
Strange measure for time that
depressing thought, man hadnt landed on the moon either
Even Revolver hadn’t come out let alone Abbey Road
Met Rob green in a cafe in York, he was studying for an exam for his degree later that day. Really nice bloke, it's awful how the media slate people for making mistakes. It's as if we've come to believe that humans aren't prone to making mistakes and learning their whole lives!
wow this was actually very intresting, keep it up 👍🏼
What a classy guy, graceful and nice humour too 👍
Never got the respect he deserved in my opinion was a solid keeper, seems nice humble bloke aswell
What a king. Insane amount of character. Hugely inspirational.
Shame on the presenter for that opening monologue poor opening statement
Exactly bro
This was a brilliant show - Rob Green is one of the best guests MNF's had for sure. Very engaging and even made everyone in my house shut up for a few minutes and listen which takes some doing. Great show guys - would like to see Green on more Sky shows.
He should spend more time on screen and people will start to get over it. This is the first time I've ever heard him speak
Already done a bigger job than KDB in that department
Been on 5 live for ages. Always talks a lot of sense
I really enjoyed Robs analysis and candid punditry last night. Takes a very brave individual to speak so eloquently of his own mistakes, I think Sky would benefit from him being on regularly, comes across as a really good bloke as well.
What a guy
American here-got to see him play in/with Leeds in 2016 which was cool and of course I will always love his mistake to help us in that World Cup but good for him he overcame the shame and had a career many would dream of and his positive outlook is inspiring.
From this, and Ben Foster's latest podcast appearance Fabio Capello seems like a right knob.
Can’t think of a player that played under him who actually has said they enjoyed it hahaha
Joe Cole couldn’t stand him either
Rob Green seems like a genuine down to earth nice bloke
Rob: I made a mistake
Roy Keane: it’s your job to save that
Great interview. Nice from Jamie to point out what Rob did for him and Rob is such a top bloke.
Remember when this happened... it was nice and hot outside, I was eating a chicken madras, pilau rice, chips, naan bread and a bottle of bud. Threw it all over the gaff. I knew from then it was another cursed World Cup for us
Proper refreshing seeing the human behind the footballer. GKs are the unsung heroes
The amount of comments feeling bad for him because of the abuse he got, remember this the next time England loses at a tournament! They are only human.
Yep...they are definitely bottling their opportunity for the title at the Euro 2021 championship so we should be prepared to not overreact.
At the end of the day, win or lose, it’s all down to how the team plays. In 2018 they still ultimately went home with nothing, and mistakes were made in that match against Croatia, but the vast majority of fans applauded them anyway.
The same can’t be said for recent tournaments like 2010 onwards.
I may set up camp here just in case

Rob Green, 219 appearances and six years as West Ham keeper. He was one of us and a very decent keeper. Hammers fans will always remember Rob with great affection. Very decent of Jamie Carragher.
He made an error. Seems like a nice guy. Capello was atrocious.
The second half save he made from Altidore was top drawer and the fact that he came out after the game and did the post match interview showed great character.
6:05 I wish someone had told Karius this.
Yeah amongst the worst mistakes ever. Karius really destroyed his career overnight
I was thinking exactly the same😂😂
Every time I hear Rob Green he comes across as class.
I remember when that moment happened, was I upset? Obviously, but I had no hate towards Rob Green, I understood it was a mistake that could have happened to anyone and I actually started to root for him after that. People forget that he did go on to have a good game afterwards, that shows an incredible amount of mental strength to keep your performance up. Top player, top bloke!
I was annoyed at rob green, but then I saw how the rest of the team played during the tournament and quickly got over the mistake
@@MrGidds91 😂😂😂 that 0-0 game against Slovenia was actually worse than the Germany game for me. Only England could make an easily winnable game painful and boring haha

Greeno was an absolutely super keeper at West Ham. Like all keepers, he made an error and it cost him dearly. Leeds, West Ham and Norwich supporters know just how good this man was between the sticks. Best wishes to you Greeno and many thanks for those wonderful saves throughout a very long career.

Capello was awful, made it a torrid time for our players in 2010
Really interesting to hear Rob, all these years later. Spoke really well and shined light on most difficult point of his career. Sometime you can just see and hear people's experiences in there voice and eyes.

Liverpool didn't treat him well. He was fantastic throughout the season. They made him walk alone.

🤣
The difference was it was Altidore turning him, a walking wardrobe.
Greeno had been great for West Ham for a couple of seasons before that and totally deserved to start that game IMO. It's a shame he's remembered for that by a lot of people as he kept us in so many games and that's what I will always remember from his career. I really felt for him at the time as I knew he was not a bad keeper. He was a very good goalkeeper who made one high profile mistake.
