- What makes a 10/10 fragrance?
1. The scent is amazing to me.
2. The scent is a standout among like fragrances in my wardrobe.
3. That's it.
That's what I said for the most recent rendition of this series (niche).
Because the first designer rendition was so successful, we're back for more. This time around, I'm adding even more nuance.
One other element that makes a fragrance a 10/10 for me is that it gives me an inexplicable feeling when I wear it: my "fraghead" brain shuts off and I don't try to dissect what I'm smelling throughout the day. It simply captures my interest and affects me in a way that I can't put into words. But I'll try! It's an 'X' factor!

Haha. Yes!! I second this! Also, just another great video Justin. You are the man! What are your thoughts on Mancera Cedrat Boise? I got it the other day and I’m mixed on it. Smells great in the air but I put it on my skin and the scent disappears quickly to me, and smells like lemon pledge on my skin. At least to me anyway. I’m not sure what others in my presence would think or experience
Totally agree with D&G The One edp. I'd also give a perfect score to Dior Homme Parfum. Granted, I only wear it for special occasions but it's so full, rich, and smooth. I'm glad I grabbed it when I had the chance.

Valentino Uomo is so nice. In case you didn’t know, Olivier Polge perfumed the 2005 version of Dior Homme and that’s why they are quite similar!

Bleu Noir EDP is enormously underrated, IMO. A unique, beautiful fragrance with great performance, all at a very reasonable price.

Justin, for me Chanel Allure Homme EDT, the original, is criminally underrated. Also the following are 10/10 in my taste: Prada Luna Rossa Black, Versace Pour Homme, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Forever, Dior Homme Intense, Givenchy Gentleman EDP, and last Pasha de Cartier Parfum which is in my top 3 for life, is just immaculate!

My first frag haul was Valentino uomo og, Armani code absolu, and Issey miyake pulse of the night…. Best haul ever. I was a noob though so I bought it in the summer lol

@@jonritchey8653 or encens I ended up selling. I got it for around like $60-70 on FragBuy, but couldn’t never come around to giving it the proper wear. It felt too confound to specific situations.

Dior Homme is a masterpiece, a fragrance that will be remembered for ages. Need to get me a backup bottle.
Guilty Absolute is a fantastic scent too. Quite long lasting, gotta say. Definitely fits a “night at the pub” setting quite well.

Plan on getting Parfum and trying the original. Iris is truly an iconic note! It’s my obsession
D&G The One EDP is one of those fragrances that is deserving of the hype and truly one I would say ever guy needs to try. There’s no denying it’s popularity but it really is special at the same time
Man, you described The One perfectly. I will always have this one in my collection. How in the world have they not made a stronger version yet?
I think it’s personally as strong as it needs to be! For me, it’s a quintessential date night/intimate scent, and the tool for that “job” only needs to last 4-5 hours and does not need to scream. But it actually lasts a bit longer for me.
Dior Homme "Original" can be found in Europe I believe. It's very close (virtually the same as the previous non-2020 homme verions). Will definitely try it one day! Great video once again!
I was able to find it in Paris. It is sold under the moniker "Dior Homme Original". Same DNA as the 2011 reformulation, I'm sure.

Love Dior Homme never experienced the silver stem, but the 2011 is lovely.
Wonderful designer list Justin, I totally agree with you with regards to the Gucci Guilty Absolute, I love it and I am hunting for a back up bottle. The Declaration however I enjoy the Parfum Version, man this is one unique masterfully blended flanker. As well as the Valentino Uomo I enjoy the Intense flanker. Beau De Jour is nice but I still prefer my Davidoff Zino... This is a gem and Tom Ford did a nice re-imagining of it, but Zino it is for me... I am yet to get Narciso Rodriguez For Him Bleu Noir EDP and I have been sleeping on it, this will be my next purchase. Great video as always and keep up the great content bro...

Blue noir edp is 9/10 for me but I guess we can give it a 10/10 . It’s great and as I wear it more and more it gets even better to me.

I got the Gucci Gulity absolute as a gift from my brother, he wanted me to try it, when I sprayed it initially, I didn't like the opening because it seemed medicinal, I felt he could have done better so I chucked it somewhere in my collection. One evening, a friend asked that we visit a nearby bar and I figured since it's a bar, might as well just spray it till it finishes, I probably did about 5 or 6 sprays, seemed heavy initially but seconds later it was fine, while at the bar, I remember right in the middle of our conversation, I perceived some wonderful scent and I asked my friend if he could perceive that, and he was like yeah "you smell nice man, wanted to ask for the name of the fragrance later" I wasn't sure had to sniff myself and realized it was actually the guilty absolute, wow, I tried it on the next evening just to be sure and this time around, unconsciously I had mixed it up with a body spray, Hour by Riggs and the result was amazing, lasted for hours, needless to say, it is one perfume I definitely got a restock when I saw it, sadly it was 50ml, I couldn't get the 100.
I had also been meaning to try the Narciso Rodriguez bleu noir for a while, when I did, I was like yeaah! I do understand the appeal, it is definitely one that deserves to be in your collection, the dry down is so creamy and it stays on your skin well. Thanks Justin for this awesome review, I am glad I already have about four of these in my collection. Pardon my lengthy comment guys.🙏

What I like to say is, "You are allowed to have your wrong opinion" 😂😂😂. Speaking of iris, have you tried Iris Malikhan or Iris Ebene? I have tried both, and they are sort of growing on me, and just revisited my sample of Iris Ebene, and whoa, I think I need a decant to really give it a shot at a full wear. Really interesting, and I don't think I was ready for it when I first got my sample.

Spot on with declaration by Cartier. There’s nothing like it in the market now.
Accordingly to the reviews on Maxaroma, the Dior Homme is the 2020 version. No matterxwhat the description states.
I managed to pick up a bottle of Cartier Declaration EDT from ‘99 and this stuff is the TRUTH
Beau de Jour & G.G. Absolute are Amaazing ( you got me hooked on both). Not too crazy about the powdery nature of Dior Homme 2005, 2011 or even 2020. Sports 2020 is nice but just that. Valentino Uomo EDT is a bit too sweet for me. Have to visit Black Orchid EDP as I didn't care much for the edt. Declaration original is too cardamom heavy on the opening. I prefer Guerlain l'homme ideal l'intense that serves the same function but to me smells more interesting. I have yet to try Blue Noir as I don't care for other Narciso very cloying. The one EDP is fantabulous. I picked up a while ago when I was shopping for a gift over ALL other D&G perfumes including the then new release Intenso. Have to pick up one for myself one day. It reminds me of Gucci pour Homme (2003).

I was wondering why GG Absolute prices jumped. People recommended it to me but I don't see myself paying $110 for a Guilty flanker. The most palatable iris/cocoa I've smelled was in Gentlemen EDP Boisee. The notes blend well but stay in the background. The One I enjoyed when I first tried it, but I actually had the whole sample spill on me and I haven't been back to it.
Gentlemen is a good replacement for Dior. Dior was wrong to reuse a name. What a logistical mess

You put me on game re: TF Beau de jour! I think it's a notch or two better than Mefisto Gentiliomo. TB Black Orchid is on my Mount Rushmore of fragrances.
I agree with almost all fragrances on your list. I have tried them all and own some of them. It's one of those things that I can not explain....I do NOT like D&G The One. TF Black Orchid is also not for me, but you basically explained why somebody would not. The other ones are pure gold...or at least virtually there. Just one gripe (if I could call it that)...something I say probably every other video in which you feature it: I love Gucci Guilty Absolute, but I can not understand why people say it is hard to wear? Really don't 😅, am I the only one? Anybody?

Dr Copeland I had Valentino Uomo the first one, as soon as I sprayed it on me, 5 min later I sold it and took a shower. Is not my style or my taste, to me reminds me, when you cleaning a baby, smells something similar to Johnson and Johnson. I love Valentino Uomo born in Roma and Coral Fantasy

The Dior homme edt 2020 is that good for summer?
Bro, It's actually one of my favorites this Summer, I have about 65 fragrances in my collection. When it first dropped I was skeptical due to so many "fragrance heads" saying it was not that good (compared to the previous versions). But after sampling it at my local Macys I fell in love with it, bought shortly after. I wear it all the time!

Absolutely amazing. My friend recently had a sniff of it from my new bottle and she went gaga over it. She even wore it out to the bar we were heading to. Blind buy worthy.
If you don’t mind smelling very “woody” then there’s no reason you couldn’t wear it in the summer. Some people may prefer to wear something a bit “fresher”, but it’ll work just fine on warmer days imo.

Man, I wanted to like Beau de Jour, but I can't. My olfactory senses just don't interpret it the way others' do. It smells gross to me, which is really odd. The list of ingredients should make it fantastic.

It's quasi subjective. If it was truly, fully subjective then we would not get fragrances getting 4.5+ scores on fragrantica. The fact that such fragrances exist means that almost all people agree these are great fragrance. My sense is that most people would agree 2/3rds of the time on fragrances. That is any two random people would agree on 2/3rds of fragrances if a fragrance is either above average, average or below average. Any differences beyond that are probably just down to minor differences in taste(ie someone rating a fragrance with 4.5 vs another rating it a 4.2 etc etc).
Even minor taste differences validate subjectivity!
@@stayfreshproductions Don't get me wrong I'm not rejecting subjectivity altogether, just pointing out that what is deemed to be good vs average vs bad is more universal than it is subjective, even with fragrances. It probably has something primal to it that is deeply encoded in our DNA, like our preference for sweet and rejection of bitter as a way to avoid poisonous plants/fruits etc. Ultimately it is a matter of degrees, like somewhat subjective or highly subjective. Qualifiers are very important when dealing with subjectivity, nothing is ever entirely subjective. Sorry to get all philosophical on you, you do a great job in your presentation and I tend to agree with your choices.
